All I know for me that is, the original Tron was a grade A story, I mean I watched the whole thing just to see if Flyn was going to get out. The second one was good about to halfway then it took a dive bomb just like those flying planes did. It just slowed way too much. What would have been better is instead of flying to that place they had to go, why not check out the city more while driving along the way. That city scape was epic. I mean the Tron Legacy trailer had me hyped up so much.
Clu was technically the Master Control of the Flynn Grid since he was the Systems Administrator. That's why he asked Flynn if he was still supposed to create the perfect system. Flynn basically clicked Yes. Flynn basically gave him permission to do everything he did.
Im half and half with the plot. While im with most and perfer the movie take place in the grid, but im open to the idea of augmented reality. This is definitely a "wait and see" kind of movie.

The story was already bad enough because the book it was adapted from was rubbish (I have read it, and yes, I have a copy of it as well), the CG was a whole decade behind, and the literal only good part about the film I could quantifyably state was good? Mechagodzilla and The Iron Giant. Everything else was bad.

one of the things that the fans scared of is that can they top the visual from legacy.. tron ares just wrap months ago and they still early in post pro but what they show in D23 was incredible, it really look like we continue right on from legacy world, and knowing the fact that this is still early and rough gives me hope and knowing that okay these are in good hands. can’t wait to see the final version of it in full glory it’s gonna be fantastic to see and oh NIN new scoring of TRON… 🥂

Seeing the cybertruck from Tesla made me recently reminisce about Tron and why it never got another follow up movie. Now hearing about this makes me really excited.
Thoughts: - While I like NIN I'm not exactly happy with the choice. Daft Punk's style was perfect for what Tron is. I'd prefer another fusion of synth and instrumental like Legacy had. - I'm going let the Eve Kim thing sit on the back burner for now ... but what little she gave away does not inspire much hope for me. - Leto's work in recent years hasn't given me much confidence in him leading the project. - This taking place in a secondary grid would explain the more triangular object where the ID disc should be ... going through different system evolutions vs. Flynn's grid. - I really hope the real world stuff is limited like a part of act 3 only.

I was tracking the updates from D23 in real time this past weekend as well! I'm feeling more hopeful about everything after taking a day or so to digest everything and how it all ties in to known lore. The different grids being in play is definitely more interesting than just 'programs coming to the real world' and I hope we see a significant amount of grid hopping for whatever reason (maybe item fetching or finding Kevin again?) Obviously, I hope that Sam, Quorra, or Tron make an appearance, but I'm not banking on it to make or break the movie for me. NIN are going to be great composing for Ares, I have no doubts about that. I'm hoping that we get a little more horror-esque theming to match the musical tones they usually go for. That would be neat to lean into with TRON. I could see some unforeseen cyber-horror going on with the whole jumping between grids and the real world
Hope there’s a cohesive and pure vision when it comes to the art direction that doesn’t try to favour nostalgia and clashes aesthetics. Love nine inch nails so very optimistic about the ost. Maybe we will hear something similar to year zero which I think could fit well. Cast looks really good too.

Somehow I feel like this movie will have some relationship or resemblance to the fan made "tr3n" movie, where a hacker girl steals the plans for the laser and creates her own, then extracts a bike, by the end of the short movie a program escapes the grid into the real world without anyone's knowledge

While TRON (1982) was a pioneer for CGI in the film industry, it wasn't the first ever film to feature it, however. This title goes to Westworld (1973).

My concern is seeing Jodie Turner-Smith there. She has been in some proper woke shit. The last bomb she was in was the Acolyte as a lesbian force witch. That said, she was in the Last Ship series which was pretty darn good, so fingers crossed. People are worried about Jared Leto. I think as long as he doesn't go overboard its okay, but in Tron the villains are pretty overboard anyway, so I don't think it will matter that much. Clue was essentially a program clone of Flynn. It would be good to have an actual villain this time. Shame that Cillian, Olivia and Garret couldn't be brought back. But I do like Evan Peters a lot and it'll be cool seeing this from a Dillinger redemption arch, his relative was the creator of Master Control Program (MCP) in the original Tron.
My main problem is it not taking place in the grid but the real world itself.

TRON Legacy was one of the best sequels to the original story ever made. I'm excited for more news about Ares but not having too much expectations.
