Walt Disney productions is not Animation is a shell of what it used to be in the touchstone days but sometimes companies are interested in diversifying their products
None of them look distinct anymore because the producers want the lowest risk, the most consistent setup, and everything "well lit", not creatively lit. Look at Pirates, every scene has a strong choice in the lighting in terms of color, direction or brightness. All the new Disney movies (cough, Marvel) have a single style setting
70% of this movie's theme is literally bonded with my imagination, and it's pretty a pity that this movie is that much underrated. It truly deserves more attention.
I dunno it's a pretty forgettable movie really, and the ending is so ludicrous...how Olivia Wildes character somehow becomes a real person? Wtf? How again? Also the Clu de-ageing tech was way too beta to be anything but a massive distraction. The score and the visual aesthetics though....wow.
@@FiveSigma72welll if you really paid attention to the movie you would have known that the ISO DNA is a mix between digital and physical attributes. But Flynn never knew exactly what caused this which kind of opens up for the next movie to explain but for all I know tron 3 has nothing to do with this plot so idek
crazy this movie is one of the reasons I got a degree in film and even in school, when my work reflected anything cyberpunk it was heavily looked down on
CLU was a noble effort to make him "younger" version but the tech just isnt/wasnt there then. Uncanny Valley is a phrase that comes to mind. People 'forget' this was Kozinski's 1st picture. This (obviously) and "Oblivion" are absolutely gorgeous visually and his choices of using M83 and Daft Punk for music puts him in my top 2 directors just behind Kubrick.
I think it actually works quite well. It makes him feel a bit more artificial to me, which obviously fits with his background. Edit: I agree with you so much on the soundtrack and visuals. It's like honey for the ears and eyes.
I saw this movie in 3D when I was 6 years old. It was one of the first movies I had ever seen in the theaters and it was the one that made me fall in love with cinema and created the passion I have for it. This movie will always have a very special place in my heart till the day I die.
This movie has such a simple yet amazing story, the amount of parallels that could be created in the bridge scene alone is off the charts! Amazing work of all the people involved
I just want to put this out there. If you are a wandering spirit who absolutely loved the stylization of this movie and want to see something with the personality that is in someway similar I cannot further recommend the manga Blame! Tron and blame share a similarity in the fact that they are world driven world created first and character second. Blame was written by a man who is originally an architect. And the actual manga has very little words to speak of. Anyway I do think you all would enjoy it. Check it out
I remember when those EL panels were the cutting edge thing when this movie came out, and now they're just available to just any Joe Schmo who wants to order them off Amazon or something. Technology is just insane.
0:10 I've always wonder why CLU killed off Castor. It seemed kind of random. This explains why; Castor failed to take care of his end, and simply presumed it was sorted out. That presumption would later cause CLU no end of problems.
One unique and special film, that should have third part immediately. We , the "customers users" we are left with more desire to watch that vaste empire that the Grid offers. What a waste oportunities to exploit that digital universe.
I hope someday they start selling authentic light suits, not cosplay or cheap stuff, the most authentic you can get, maybe even dry clean only yet waterproof in case of emergency situations but enough to bring yourself into the world of Tron, without having to travel to The Grid (tho if they make the ability to go there that would be nice as well)
The irony of the original film's set just being a black studio space where everything was add in post, to the new one where most of the sets are real and enhanced in post. It's like they did it backwards, lol.
A pretty good effort with stunning visuals and musical score. The de-aging wasn't quite ready, and the second half drags, but the biggest distraction for me was Garret Hedlund. I felt that roll could have been cast better.
It's a tragedy how much this movie was thrashed by critics...thankfully, it's now recognized as the masterpiece it is. Like Blade Runner and Shawshank before it.
Continuity goofed. When Bridges says, “Of course you’re right.”, he isn’t wearing his head comp or whatever. Then, he says, “Enjoy your drink.”, he’s wearing it.
This movie is a masterpiece!!! But there are some rather strange moments: 1. Why do they eat human food and drink drinks in the system? This is absolutely not necessary in the system, because... it consists only of information, zeros and ones. This looks like complete nonsense. 2. Why are there different types of surfaces in the system on which different vehicles drive? This is also complete nonsense. 3. Why does a flying vehicle produce exhaust gases in the system? This is also complete absurdity. 4. And the main question: why couldn’t Kevin Flynn, who created the system itself, change anything at any time? He could easily have erased Clu, he could have saved the isomorphs and Quora, but he just sat and did nothing for 20 years.
The biggest mistake is that disney did not finish what they started and pulled the plug on a movie they were already working on, quess they went too woke and lost track of time
A grand mistake made by all. The Tron universe ISN'T supposed to look and feel like our own. We don't arrive in our street clothes. They don't have night clubs and cocktails there. Everyone doesn't walk around wearing wetsuits with glow tape stuck on them. I loved watching this sequel and am glad that any sequel was made at all. But it will never hold even a candle to the design and execution of the original which made the Tron universe a mystical and mysterious place. I thought using practical effects would bring a humanity to the design like the original did. I was wrong. 😞
You're right, Legacy's world felt a lot smaller somehow, in terms of the lore of the Grid...maybe it's to do with the fact the original had to be so much more hand-crafted, only 15 mins were fully cgi rendered. It also had a far more mystical atmosphere...maybe a little too philosophical for its intended audience. I kind of file it somewhere near Lynch's Dune....a beautiful, unique mess of a film.
The mistake you had is not seeing the obvious difference between the two is the original Tron world just always existed in cyberspace, this one is Flynn's cyberspace construct. And ey...let's not fkn pretend the orginal was any sort of masterpiece of a script, a lot of people think it was a product of it's era....very 80's and goofy in aspects. The only thing it's noteworthy is they had to come up with ways to actually make the world's first rendered film without the luxury of today's computing technology.
It's definitely one of scifi cinemas biggest missed opportunities. It has some lovely component parts though...just not enough to make it a good movie. Personally one of my biggest turn-offs was the charisma vacuum playing the lead role....I pretty much wanted him to fail in whatever it even was his task entailed...can't even remember. Also the end lol, he made a real life Olivia Wilde somehow? What was that bullshit? At least when Weird Science did that it was sposed to be funny.
Iconic, yea sure. Beautiful? Lmao to your "ma feelings" moment. Ey let not pretend the fact that people didn't actually even remember what that weird 80's fever dream was untill this movie happened. The original was just banking on the era when computers was the new fascinating topic for people & made something ridiculous out of it. But sure you can cope being edgy because internet made these movies become hot topic LoL.
I like when a Disney movie doesn't look like something done by Disney
Too bad that’s super rare these days.
not only that, but the difference was clystal clear to me the moment I read 'WALT DISNEY PRODUCTION' on the end credits.
What does that even mean?

This movie is so fucking underrated how one even pulls off making a movie like this is beyond me
True, and it was robbed at the Oscars for best music Score, how to train your dragon was nominated over Daft Punk is laughable
Agreed. It's heartbreaking how it was treated when originally released.

I love tron legacy!❤️

There's a way to do it cheaper, but you have to do research and make it yourself.
