    Thank you for this video. My 99k Singer just would not pick up the bobbin thread, and I tried everything; tension, needle seating, looked at several threading videos, perused old manuals, etc.
    When I watched your video I found the timing marks, and learned that my hook was about 1/4" late.
    I adjusted it according to your instructions, and now it picks up the bobbin thread every time, as it should. Much appreciated; thanks.

    Thank you! I just set the timing on a 66-1 Red Eye SN = Feb 23, 1916. As you said, no timing marks. Your instructions were dead one. First try... picked up the bobbin thread and the stitches look good. A member of my family will be pleased to learn her treasure (head was frozen when I said I'd TRY....) is now operational. Again, thank you for sharing.

    Hi can you make or repeat the video making it a bit stable to see well. And the explanation on adjusting the timing can you focus more on that and make it slow on explanation and illustration so it can be understood well. Thanks

    This is all new to me on a Singer red eye 66-1 treadle.Im trying to follow video .my first question is after the bobbin is taken out how do you get the bobbin casing out? I tried to clean yesterday a lil on it and now the bobbin cover that slides just slides right off! Did I break it also if so can it be fixed! My 2 featherweights were a breeze but this. ...I’m gonna do it no matter how long it takes and then learn to use it!thanks for any help, it’s appreciated!

    I don't mean to sound mean but the camera was jumping around so much It is hard to see what you were trying to show. When the needle is at it's lowest point is it the hook that is just coming through past the eye of the book that is about to go in the return direction as the needle starts back up ?????

    • @TheTreasureCellar
      @TheTreasureCellar  4 роки тому +1

      at the needles lowest point the hook is just before the needle, as the needle starts its upswing the hook will pass around the needle while the hook is still above the thread hole. This is because the thread is slightly relaxed and the hook catches the thread at this point. sorry if its hard to see in the video.

    Hi, Your videos are great and, So i bought a singer 503A in ebay and the stitch indicator lever came wrong and the cam discs don't work right they only make zigzags is it cause of the stitch indicator lever or should i return it or get someone to fix it cause I only have a couple days to return it ,Can you please answer as soon as possible and i would like it a lot

    • @TheTreasureCellar

      Return it and buy from a seller who services machines. You will pay more, but save money in the long run because it wont require post sale servicing. The are so many "flippers" out there who have no clue what they are selling or how to properly test it or check for electrical safety hazards. If you bought through eBay you are protected by eBay and PayPal buyer protection program. Make the seller pay for return shipping if you can. I wish I had a 503 I could sell you, but Im all out.

    i followed your video on timing the 66 model and i got it sewing but the stitches are kind of slanted instead of straight. can that be the timing as well.

    • @TheTreasureCellar
      @TheTreasureCellar  7 років тому +2

      no, the stitch pattern has a slight slant, that is normal

    My hook timing needs adjusted on my 66-1 lotus(which is the same as a red eye) but the screw on the bottom of the machine to adjust it is stuck. Do you have any suggestions on getting it out?

    • @TheTreasureCellar
      @TheTreasureCellar  5 років тому +1

      some screws just require the correct size screwdriver and muscle. Sorry, no tricks.

    Noob question but on my 66 red eye it looks like a hook on both sides, which side am I going by if I'm facing the front of the machine? Left or right? Thanks!

    What are symptoms of timing being off in a sewing machine?

    • @TheTreasureCellar
      @TheTreasureCellar  8 років тому

      +Wiyan Wakan When your timing is off, your machine will skip stitches. This is seen more often when sewing through thick or multiple layers of fabric. Make sure you are using the correct needle for your fabric. Incorrect needles can also skip stitches. Also make sure your needle is not bent. That can also cause skipped stitches. If you suspect the timing is off it is very simple to verify. You only have to remove the plates, but you dont have to touch the timing screw unless its necessary. I hope that helps.

    I appreciate the effort but I am seasick from your camera gyrations in just the first two minutes. I hope you have a different camera setup now.
