- VIDEO DESCRIPTION & SIGNAL CHAIN INFORMATION
First introduced in 1977, the MXR Phase 100 is an extremely versatile 6-stage phaser developed for players who desired a broader range of sounds and a more pronounced modulation than what the Phase 90 (4-stage) or Phase 45 (2-stage) could provide.
As with other members of the legacy MXR line, the current Phase 100 stays true to its beginnings by being made with the same vintage-style photo resistors that were present in the original models. For each pedal, these components are all hand-selected and matched at Dunlop's Benicia, California factory to insure the most lush and musical modulation.
The most signature feature of the MXR Phase 100 is the rotary "INTENSITY" control that lets the user select between four forms of phasing modulation. The settings allow for various combinations of differing modulation depths (expressed by the "circles" graphic) and widths of the frequency sweep heard in the modulation (as expressed by the "arrow" graphic.) An equally easily-to-operate "SPEED" knob allows for a wide spectrum of phasing rates; from a subtle and slowly developing "swoosh" all the way to fast stuttering and psychedelic undulations.
Through the years the Phase 100 has proved to be a wildly successful and useful effect for not only the guitar but also bass, keys, vocals, and electrified acoustic instruments.
One hundred percent analog circuitry, hardwire bypass, an LED status light, and a 9-volt adapter/battery powering options round out this amazing pedal. Used by itself or in tandem with other pedals to enrich those effects, the MXR Phase 100 delivers a wealth of tonal options while still retaining the straightforward, no-nonsense operation and organic analog sound of MXR.

What a beautiful video! It's so nice to actually hear someone playing music on a guitar and not just a pile of dreadful noise. I can hear what the pedal truly sounds like. Thank you!!!!!
Thats what I thought. I may buy one now.
The Phase 100 is under-appreciated and something you don't see on many pedal boards, despite it being readily available. Funny how things go sometimes.
Seriously, every MXR pedal needs to be done like this on the new videos
Damn....fantastic player and great sounding pedal too.
Thanks for the great outside playing too❤cool pedal❤
This one is my favorite. I like a more intense depth for clean tones & less depth than the Phase 90 for distorted tones. With less depth, I can get pretty close to Robin Trower's Univibe tone. It's a swiss army knife of modulation effects.
Incredible phaser, I loved my Phase 90 to death but it was a close call between these two for sure,
I don't think I've ever actually really liked the music on one of these demo/ review vids but this was great. Some really cool stuff.
Yeah this dude's selling this pedal on the basis of his juicy licks alone
very good video......a big like .... i had learn a lot .. thanxxx
Ahh so this is what Genesis used on guitars and the synths in the late 70s😍
nice sounds !!
I will never understand people who don’t cut the ends of their guitar strings.
LOL Me neither. A buddy once came to my house to jam acoustics and all the strings were like this. So I thought he did not have clippers so I wacked them off for him. I'll never forget the look on his face. LOL.
they just want to be edgy ;)
they’ve progressed past the need for trimmed strings
@@jtukbb well i face them down instead of up and it’s just not necessary except for most floyd-style bridges
Because those damn strings are expensive LOL
It helps the guitar stay in tune better straight after you've restrung
It's been up for a long time, dude.
Sounds great
The modulation you hear Travers/Thrall use in Go for What You Know is the A/DA Flanger.
That's cold:)
Phase 100 is Show!
I always have them like that. It's not stupid
I see they used Egnater amps for this demo!!! Good times
Plug in a minimoog model d for instant gary numan....
Sounds like he has 3 John McLaughlin licks learned so far!
So I have the phase 90. Does anyone know which of those four Intensity settings is most similar to the phase 90?
Skyler Wells - (Sorry I'm late to the show but someone may find this useful). Depends on which Phase 90 you have. I have a Phase 100 and I modded a friend's "block" Phase 90 and it produced the "script" sound. He was delighted... so much so that he sold his Dunlop Univibe. The Phase 100 probably has something similar to the "block" Phase 90 but nothing like the original "script" 90 or modded "block" 90. I'm on the look out for a cheap "block" 90 to mod so that I have the whole gamut of MXR Phase sounds... hence my visit here.
+Geoff Lowther I found it useful :)
I think it is the first one: 0:26
I've been a luthier 1980. And a road going tech from '80-'90. Pat lives a short distance away & I see him pretty often. I've worked on his gear & I have seen his live rig the last 20 yrs. I saw his backline in Seattle in 1980, six months before Pat Thrall left to for Hughes Thrall. I stood right over his rig. No Leslie, no blue box. A phase 90 that his tech said was turned on for 2 songs. I always do my homework. If I don't know, I know who to call. Genius
time to get my billy corgan tone on
Sold!
thats sorta the ultimate pedal for the siamese dream tone, except maybe the muff
It's a sound simillar to chorus convinated with tremolo in one pedal. do you think so? would it work that way?
Can anyone tell me what hz it is at at the lowest speed????
Good ol' Egnater Tweaker
Can it do a two stage, Phase 45 sound? Considering adding a phaser to my rig, and am torn between this and the 45.
your playing reminds me of Tangerine Dream's Stratosfear
i want to know what kind of camera they used wow
just waiting for Fullbore Metal's demo
I have one of these. I like it, but I wish MXR /Dunlop would make it sound more like the original script version, if not an outright reissue. I've compared this to a script version, and the script has a lot more clarity.
What the differences in SOUND between the old one and this new one? Best wishes from ITALY.
The 100 can adjust the intensity and speed, but the 90 can only adjust the speed.
U betcha
Dunlop rotovibe next please
You get some sounds out of phase 100 that sound similar to the Boss Super Phaser.
An old bass playin freind used 1 all the time w his rig in the 80;s..So did Pat Travers!! Go 4 what you know(live) album, and Heat in the Street-its all over the place! chech out back issues of Guitar Player Mag w/Pat on cover.."79ish"..He allows a bunch of tone secrets? ..out......
Джейк И Ли такой использует. Хочу и себе заиметь)
10.
the mxr phase 100 schematic said it was a 10 stage phaser
Yeah, I hate that too. It's not like it's hard to cut the strings.
But no in this format, is it?
Nice pedal what's the price.
3:19 HAL 9000
2:52 pink floyd breathe
yeah and ive already got a big muff
Eh, not *exactly,* no. But the produciton is high. I sent it to you in a PM.
I guess phase 90 is my jam, this one sounds fine but I couldn’t relate to it.
So the Guitar Player Mag from 1980 is B.S.? The 1 with Pat on the cover? He talks extensively about FX order..With the blubox/phase100 in front of the wah.Its a cool long article, perhaps his tech pulled the secret stuff out as soon as you left,LOL! The Leslie is all over GFWYK album swirling like a motherfucker! Ive tried the setup he describes with the pedals & settings..they're pretty spot on. Im just relaying what I read & tried so,How dare u call ME, Pat Travers & Guitar Magazine Liars!
Long toenaiLs too!
@Riley Noonan not even close . it just looks stupid.
(analoG)
not a bad sounding pedal but i'm more interested in fuzz and reverb pedals at the momeant
No! Phase 100,MXR Blue Box,Crybaby Wah,ADA Flanger ,50 & 100 Watt Marshalls & a Leslie...Do ur homework before u say something genius.....I told u where to read it!
Its stupid to have he strings hang of like that. It takes 1 minute to cut em
Please don't cry, I hate when gtr players cry. They lie to the rags. I had to do it for my Boss. Everyone was secretive.. I'm not calling you a liar, you're just getting your info from a 30 yr old mag. Listen to the intro to Gettin Betta. That's all A/DA Flanger.
EVH's 1st ech Rudy Lieran told the rags that EVH's Marshall was modded by Jose Arrendondo. In reality, EVH felt sorry for the guy. To help his business, he said Jose modded his amp. It helped Jose & put people off his trail.
nice fake leslies!
What is it with you guys that won't trim your string ends off the headstock? It just looks amateurish. Come on, five minutes with a wire clipper and you're done. Sloppy.
Que acordes más feos todo el rato
