    I really like this video, just super informative and entertaining. I think for your damage section, one key difference between damage and threat in multiplayer is you NEED much less damage every turn (outside of a few minion-heavy encounters). An aggression player in 4 player will routinely be able to keep a board clear of minions (for a typical encounter) if they build for it, but a justice player can need help thwarting even with a deck built for multiplayer. So a character like Ms. Marvel isn't punished as much for having low damage because you might see 1-2 minions on a typical villain turn, and therefore she may not even need to contribute anything to help with that. Meanwhile, the justice player in a 4 player game needs to thwart at least 4 per turn, plus more for side schemes and people flipping to alter ego, and the justice player needs to do that every turn.

      @VillainTheory  Місяць тому +1

      Great point. I did try to convey that threat removal was the thing most-needed for multiplayer, that it scaled up a lot, but I didn't spell it out this precisely. Everyone's gotta chip in with the thwarting when it gets bad!

    I thought the best ones were this, in this order:
    1. Cyclops
    2. Phoenix
    3. Wolverine
    4. Colossus
    Excited to unpause and see how close I was!

    Another great analysis. I think that the deck building principles and priorities for solo play are the same in multiplayer, just spread over 2 or more decks so balancing the heroes becomes important. I look forward to hearing you explore more of the paired hero synergies.

    Where is the 2 thumbs up option? AWESOME guide dude!
    Yay, this is the first time I've actually heard others talk "properly" about (most) Enc-SS scaling factor for MPer as such! Love the call out! Being saying it myself for ages too.
    Comparing apples to apples: 1P vs 4P; assuming EACH player drawing a single Enc card that is same/equivalent "2+hinder2" SS
    1P game: 4 threat hits table on 1 SS = 4/player
    4P game: 4 SS, Each SS has 10 threat = 40 threat = 10/player {yeah 4 vs 10 using 'the same' SS entering comparison}
    Sure, I'll admit "some" SS are fixed threat but that just means they all get that same fixed for those SS reveals and result in no variance if EACH player draws same equivalent.
    It's those SS that come with some form of "hinder X" effect.

    Loved this video, and I'm super excited for the next pairing video.
    Obviously Cyclops pairs well and Colossus not so much. I think personally I would choose Wolverine over Phoenix. Phoenix does cover Spider-man's two main weaknesses, but she kind of just covers one or the other (restrained or unleashed). I would find her a lot harder to pilot for that reason. Wolverine covers the minion issue easily, so with him you would just need to make sure one player runs justice or leadership to cover the thwart.

I try to make my deck the board and threat manager whilst she bashes the villain. I loved the quiz at the end with Spiderman and potential team mates.

    With your point on power, I run a lot of Marvel Champions game (being a president of board game club) and the strength of the hero does not matter. Each time I see people underperforming is because of terrible deck (precon) or slight misplay. Because a misplay can mean a person can play an extra cards or do more threat.

    • @VillainTheory
      @VillainTheory  Місяць тому

      Hm! I suppose this video was more built from the perspective of everyone having a custom deck and so on, I mostly play multiplayer myself these days. But I'm sure it varies a lot everywhere. From my experience power does make a notable difference.
