As you all know, boiling and peeling farm fresh chicken eggs is a headache. I've tried everything and I mean everything until my brother-in-law shared this bit of advice he got from an old timer.
Great idea. I buy the organic brown eggs and they definitely have a heavier shell than the regular store bought white eggs. However I find the brown eggs have a deeper orange color yoke. Thanks for the tip!👍🏻
Thank God. Finally a way to peel eggs easy and not lose my religion. The other day when I made pickled eggs I started peeling an egg which took me about 5 minutes to get about half of it peeled and my patience was at its limit. Into the garbage can it flew. My wife bailed me out and she peeled the rest of the eggs. God I love that woman. LOL. Thank you Melissa for the great advise.
This is wonderful! I am sure grateful for this new tip! I recently learned of steaming freshly laid eggs to prevent the same problem, unpeelable smooth eggs. I am so glad this problem is being addressed with solutions. Please give that brother in law a big hug for all of us deviled egg lovers!
Every since we got chickens my boiled eggs wont peel for nothing. I just tried this and the sky opened up and angels started singing! This method really works!!!! Only thing i did different was use instapot but that little whack is magic!
Hi thank you so much, been boiling my fresh farm eggs all morning in different ways, wanted perfectly peeled eggs to make pickled eggs and this is the only way I've found that works. I really appreciate you sharing this❤
I am literally in shock!! It's works. WOW WOW WOW. I am 64 years old and have tried everything to peel eggs, down to the ice baths. Just tapping the end works. I cooked 17 eggs just now and everyone of them was an easy peel. I wasn't sure it would work for store bought eggs but it does. I can't thank you enough!! YOU ROCK!!!
I will sure give this a try,why not. I have read all your recipes that I can find on UA-cam. You are an excellent cook. You cook the kind of food that I was raised up on. And so does Joe. Joe loves his potatoes and so do I. Lol. You and Joe go together like bacon and eggs. Keep making your videos for us and God bless you.
I just wanted to send a thank you. This was the best thing ever. My wife said it is a game changer. I have t had any issues peeling the eggs since this video came out. Thank you.
Just this morning got a post to the FB page: Sandi Cook to Central Oregon Chickens 101 17 mins · It worked! That tip posted here by Mary about slightly cracking eggs first, before boiling, worked like a dream! All my hours of frustration trying to present a decent looking platter of deviled eggs but essentially ending up with shredded white with yolk...are OVER! Thank you so much for that tip!!! ....
thank you for the great tip i tried it this morning and it works awesome. My husband and I are great fans of Northern Seclusion and love this channel as well.
A spoon can be used to peel them also. When the eggs are finished boiling, run cold water over them and make a crack in the shell, slide the spoon in between the egg white and the membrane, slide spoon around the egg and the shell will come very easy.
Melissa thanks for the new way on how to boil eggs & how to get them to peel easily!! We have chickens also but would not boil them until at least 20 days old or older then boil them rinse with very very cold water until cooled down!! The quieter I could get them to cool down the better!! Then put one in a glass jar with about 1/4 full of water put lid on & shack up to break shell then take out & peel the eggs! This was probably the best way that I found but that also was for older eggs!! It will definitely be nice to try out some very fresh eggs out & see if it works for me also?? I can see how it would work!! By cracking the egg before boiling the eggs it gives the water a chance to get in between the eggs & their shell with the water helping to separate the egg from the eggs membrane & shell while boiling the eggs!! Awesome how to video!! Keep up all the hard work Melissa!!
Melissa ..thank you, thank you, thank you!! For over 60 yeas I've been making hard boiled eggs the WRONG WAY...My cooking times have been perfect..from start to finish, cold water to boiling..18 minutes total time for about 4-6 eggs. I've always had a hard getting those shells off...NOW...NOW no more your method really works...gracias, dziekuje (Polish), thank you.
Robert give this a try, when your water comes to a boil turn off the heat put a lid on the pot and set a timer for 12 min they are perfect not to mention an energy saver..
Thank you Melissa..i love boiled eggs and have had so many frustrating experiences trying to peel fresh eggs (usually ending up with pieces picking off bits of shell)..you make it look easy, thanks for sharing!
Greetings from the sweetest place on Earth. Hershey, PA!... Wow, what a great tip! I have also done all the things like salt, baking soda, etc. and nothing has worked. Nothing worse than peeling eggs and having most of the egg white come off with the shell. Now I'm hungry for a hard boiled egg sandwich on toast with mayo! Yum!
When I make pickled eggs, I boil twelve dozen at a time. If there's one thing that I've learned, its to let the eggs age a week or two in the refrigerator before I boil them and they will peel a lot easier! Fresh eggs don't have that little air bubble on the fat end of the egg that an aged egg will develop with a little time.
i've done about every trick out there to get fresh eggs to peel. have a little luck with some of the methods, but not a lot of luck. going to try this method. will get back to you and let you know the results. thanks for the info.
I do it your way except, always no more than a dozen eggs, exactly 13 minutes boiling and I put the eggs in an ice bath directly after boiling and peal them after 5-10 minutes. Never fails.
Melissa, just have to say, thank you! This really works! First time in my entire life I had an easy time peeling hard boiled eggs. Told my 3 daughters about this too! Again, thank you :)
Isn't it just a sigh of relief??? A simple little tap, no vinegar, no baking soda, no ice water bath, etc. Something so simple can make life so much less frustrating. Thank you for commenting and letting me know it worked for you too! :)
Missy, my old friend...... I have to tell you, after seeing your "cajun" seasoning video I was a little skeptical about this one. But I have to say, I made about 10lbs of potato salad this weekend and boiled a dozen and a half eggs using your technique. That was the easiest peeling eggs I've ever seen. Thank you for the tip!!! Hope you're doing well up there in the great white north......
I can tell you live in Minnesota with that liquid gold (water) running freely down the drain. Unfortunately, I live in California where we conserve water and its at a premium cost. My heart started palpitating, lol! Great tip on the hard boils, thanks!
Well we haven’t tried that. Funny listening to your list of things that didn’t work. I’m sure everyone was saying ‘yup’ to each one. Worth giving a try!! Hugs to fur babies. Guess you can give Joe one too. Nah, just give him a hard time....hide his cap.
Holy HARD BOILED EGGS! I'm trying this for SURE! I'm also sharing it with my Facebook group Central Oregon Chickens 101 .. thank you so so much for the tip!
just tried the pressure cooker again and dented the eggs on the fat end and so far that worked out great. i just collected the eggs last night. all of them peeled perfectly. except one. i cracked it too much, but it blew off the egg shell and was salvageable. thanks for the info
Great tip. Thanks for sharing :) I use my instant pot and they come out great every time. I used the 5-5-5 method. Use the trivet that comes with the instant pot or you can find a special egg holder made for the instant pot. Then add one cup water. Use the manual or pressure cook button set to 5 minutes. When the cycle is done let it set for 5 minutes then you can quick release. Then put the eggs in ice water for 5 minutes. My farm fresh peel easy every time. Take care, see ya :)
I'll try this. I usually make hard-boiled eggs out of the oldest eggs in the fridge. Any fresh egg will be hard to peel but if they are a couple weeks old they are easy to peel.
@@3611136111 do I detect a little 'Salty'? I actually have almost no counter space at all. That's why I love the instant pot. You don't need to set it on the counter. All you need is an outlet.
When I boil eggs, I boil them for five minutes and then turn the burner off and leave them on the stove and they will finish cooking on their own. I peel mine in cold water and have no problem at all.
Thanks for the tip Malisa I will give it a try!! Oh by the way I won't ever tease you on your channel I'll only tease Joe because he's always so serious!!
