I tried this method with fresh eggs today and it worked great! My wife had tried hard boiling some eggs from the same batch about a week before and they all stuck badly to the shells. This method resulted in the shells practically coming off by themselves. Thank you very much for posting this. Eric
A week old eggs are not fresh anymore. If they are not fresh you don't need to go through all this trouble, after boiling just put them in cold water until they cool enough, no ice needed. The issue is with same day or day old eggs. I was looking into this for Easter eggs but unfortunately cracks in the shell are not allowed (Orthodox type of Easter).
I learned the push pin trick from a Julia Child cookbook many years ago. Have used one of her suggested methods from some GA government board. No green auroras, ever.
Omg thank you. I always wanted to boil the eggs more than any other method but was disappointed when I lost half the eggs when peeling them. Can't wait to try this. 👍
Ok kid, homerun! I've tried the egg piercer you buy in the store-- near impossible to clean. Now i'll try your thumb tack me those.... More of these tips please....
Going to try this... Have tried so many methods with no success! (steaming, salting, baking soda, various times, etc) How are your centers at 15 minutes (sounds like a little longer than I generally let them go for with steaming, usually around 12 minutes) Thanks!
Wish you make another video so we can see what the egg looks like when you cut one in twu. Is it too cooked or not. And the color white os blackish ? Thank you
Eggs don't need 15 minutes to cook. After the water comes to a boil, they need 8 minutes to be perfectly boiled. 7 minutes if you want the yolk to be slightly running.
:)) for me hard boiled eggs need to be cold by definition. It's the soft yolk ones that need to be hot. But yeah if you want warm hard boiled eggs, it's a bummer.

You ROCK!!! I've tried every other method and some worked partially, your way I came out with perfectly peeled eggs on them all 🙌

Did I see you turn the heat down so they are at a slower boil?

This worked amazingly! Thank you!

I noticed that if you cool the egg in cold water for a few minutes it peels easier - but then you have a cold egg.

Thank you, my niece just gave me 3 dozen of fresh eggs.
Mine still don’t peel. I am now going to try putting them in room temperature water and start the cook 20 minutes
Very helpful.
Thank You for the information!
