I remember when i was a kid, some 50 years ago, you could simply boil an egg and peel it perfectly with no problems. I wonder what has happened with egg production methods that folks are having to make videos about something that was never an issue in the good old days. Anyway, thanks for your video. Oh, what if i need to boil a dozen eggs and not process one at a time?
Why do you think the eggs changed? What about, for example, the water? Are you living in the same place and getting the same sourced eggs? I do not remember any difference...sometimes easy, sometimes hard.
We’re so attached to our idea of expiration dates these days that we probably cook eggs up that are too fresh (not to mention too cold) to break down properly like a normal, unrushed, older egg. I believe older eggs peel easier anyway. But awesome question to ponder! My Mom just bought some chickens, and now I’m gonna have to experiment with peelability! 🤓
I watched this and went directly to the kitchen. Grabbed an egg that had been purchased the previous day and this worked just as discribed! Amazing! Thank you!!!
OMG!! How did I not know this!! Just tried it and it worked like a dream. I still can’t believe it. Thank you from someone who had pretty much given up on all things involving hard boiled eggs 😂😂
Tried it and it definitely worked, thank you and finally! I knew there was an effective way, I just couldn’t find one. I can finally eat 100% of the egg instead of 50% of it, lol.

Amazing!I have got to try this. I have partial arthritis and have the hardest time trying to peel eggs. I'm going to try this the next time I buy eggs... probably this week. Thanks for the tip!
My husband has a quick hack for this. He dents the bottom of the cooked egg, cups it in hands, put it to his lips and with one quick blow the egg shell comes loose. Blows it right off.
I just boiled 8 eggs for potato salad and I added about a heaping tablespoon of baking soda to the water while boiling. They peeled very easy. Give it a try.
Dude, m coming back to comment again. And guess wat i tried this today and it worked flawlessly. Instead of cracking egg bottom, i have used board pin to punch hole in the egg bottom. 15 min boiling, then immediately removed from heat and used tap water 3-4 times to reduce temperature and then kept them in the refrigerator for 15-20 min. Then used glass mug with lid to remove cover and Voila! Perfectly peeled eggs, wish i can share pic with u. Thank you sooooo much 🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@GoodFoodsGoodMood board pin 📌 which we use to pin any notice on notice boards in school /offices. Trust me it is way easier than cracking the bottom.
Hi what's a board pin and do u think the eggs would've just as easily peeled by hand after the refrigerator? Just wondering if I can skip the shake method in the sealed container
Oh yes bulletin board that's great everyone has that we could even get more exact and cut the length of that pin so it doesn't go through the membrane and the handle section makes it easy 😂😂
I started buying organic pastured raised eggs. Those were the hardest to peel. It was frustrating. I found a video that showed put eggs in after the water is boiling. I put two eggs in a big spoon and lowered them into the boiling water. I first tried without the spoon and just dropped them in the water and they cracked. It was the easiest peel i have ever had. I have been doing it for a while now and it has never failed me. I do it now with any egg that I am boiling.
That is remarkable. 👌😎 I usually just stick an egg under cold water and peel, and mostly it works OK, but not always - not sure why. I'm weary of cracking eggs before boiling cause I'm afraid the inside will come out. But it didn't seem in your video, so I'm gonna try this method.
I was so excited to test this method I immediately grabbed a few eggs. I was a little too eager because I forgot to boil them. The shells came off very quickly, though. Great omelette.

Question: This is a really great way to remove the shell from a hot boiled egg. I like to cook my eggs and place them back into the container and then into the fridge, Will this method work just as good on cold eggs or do they have to be right out of the pot? Thanks -- Buck
I find hard boiled eggs none the worse for wear when I peel them all right away and store in a glass jar "naked." It's been a while since I did it - I think I filled the jar with water after placing the eggs in it. Edit: I looked it up so I wouldn't give bad info, and for every 10 sites you find, you'll get 10 opinions.
I really wish I would’ve seen this video an hour and a half ago when I had to boil 50 eggs. I peeled off 35% of each egg. 😢 I will totally try this next time!! Thank you ❤
Having boiled a large quantity of eggs, put them all into straight into an empty saucepan and shake the living daylights out of it. Easiest is just sliding it back and forth on the counter. Then hold each egg under a slow running tap and the shell will pretty much wash off though, I suspect this little trick of crushing the bottom first will make it even easier. I do them 3 dozen at a time and by the time I've peeled the first batch, the next batch is cooked and ready.
You can also tap that same spot lightly with a metal spoon a few times until you hear a pop. That inner translucent skin breaks open. Instead of cracking the bottom try the spooon method.
I cracked the bottom of eggs as described. I pressure cooked for 5 minutes with 5 minutes natural release. I put the eggs in room temperature water to make them easier to handle. By accident I discovered that gently squeezing an egg made the shell fall off easily. No need to shake in a jar. Perfect smooth eggs.
Thank you a Decillion times. You have made me very very very happy with this video. I really do appreciate it. I will just add that I hit the ___bottom___ of the egg in a small plate so you can practice if you break any (I broke small holes in just 2 out of 24 of them). It does not matter if the water is hot or cold when you put the eggs in it. Also I used a small container with Faust water and shock it few times to any direction you like. I did boil the 12 eggs for UNTILL THE WATER started boiling then I took them off and left in __same__ hot water for 10 minutes after that take them out to a container with water ___1/2___ way not covering the entire eggs so the eggs can move and have space to hit the side of the container. I assure your the reader that it does work 100% or do not give me a good thought. Of course give the egg a tiny help to peel them in no time. Now I make my boiled eggs 12 of them at a time not even in a cooking pot but in a coffee kettle just the exact steps you saw in the video. Thank you for this video.
@@billvojtech5686I usually pop a small hole or sometimes 2 in the bottom where the air sack is with a sewing needle, but being extra careful not to pierce the eggs membrane, this allows any built up steam to escape easily from the egg, just the same as what is on the glass lids of most saucepans & frying pans & skillets & I usually steam them most of the time, I also do this, even when I do boil them too, by doing this, whether I steam them or boil them, I've never had an egg crack on Me while I am cooking them yet, & adding a pinch or 2 of salt to the water helps & it brings it to the boil a lot quicker too, also the egg shell itself acts like a little mini pressure cooker & it retains a lot of heat so it keeps on cooking even when it is taken out of the boiling water or the steamer, I run them under cold running water for about 20 to 30 seconds or so, You can use a colander to do them all at once, then I let them sit in a bowl of cold water from the fridge for about 3 minutes, all this stops the cooking process immediately, then I peel them, I've seen some People let them cool down by themselves but with the process of them still cooking off the heat & trying to cool down both at the same time, it causes a little reaction inside the eggs & that's what causes that grey mushy substance to form between the egg whites & the yolks so You have to stop the cooking process straight away, I usually cook them for about 5 & a half to 6 minutes for soft boiled eggs, 7 to 8 minutes for medium boiled eggs & 8 to 9 minutes for hard boiled eggs, I usually crack them all the way around on a hard surface like a cutting board or a counter top, or You could also hit them all around the egg with a meat mallett or a wooden rolling pin, then I peel them, here's another little tip that I use whenever I am boiling water & don't want to use a lid, if You place a dry wooden spoon, a dry wooden spatula or a dry wooden rolling pin across the top of the saucepan it won't boil over, when the water gets to full boil & tries to boil over the little bubbles hit the dry wooden surfaces & pop & the water dissipates & drops back into the saucepan, occasionally You just might have to top the water up from time to time, so keep Your eye on that as well, I've never seen this no peel method before so I'm definitely going to give it a go, it looks like it'll save a lot of time & it looks like it could be a lot of fun too.
I grew up on a farm in the 1940s. We had yard hens and caged hens. The yard hens were not fed the bagged feed that the caged hens were fed. We did not refrigerate any eggs. The yard hens ate from the ground. Yard eggs were the best tasting and easiest to peel. We sold the cage eggs to a guy that came by in a truck and delivered stores we needed like day old bread, 100 pounds feed bags etc. I never ate a caged egg until 1959. We moved to Southern California in 1955 and the dairy farms went extinct around 1959.
That's cool! ...I poke the bottom of the egg with a stick pin. ...boil egg ...put in ice water for 5 minutes ...tap egg with blunt end of butter knife handle all around the egg. Peeling comes off easily.
Tuna salad herre I come! and chicken salad too! Been using the Russian technique; where you crack and peel the large end and tap teh small end to pinch a hole in the top then blow air into the egg to remove the top half of the shell. It works pretty good once you get the hang of it but you can en up with bits of shell in your mouth. So gonna try this No-Peel method Sunday.
It works.. but water is not needed (in the bowl) as it may mash / spoil the egg if bowl is shaken hard. Also, it works with one egg at a time.. Though not tried with more than one egg in a bowl.
Start in cool water, bring to a boil, boil for 1 minute. Turn off the heat and cover the pot. Let sit for 10 minutes and then drain. No green yolks and easy peeling with this method.
The best method I've found is: bring water to medium simmer, place COLD eggs into water using a spoon, cook 13 minutes, place eggs in ice water for 15 minutes. Perfect every time.
Fresh eggs won't peel very well when boiled, that's how you know they are fresh. The fresh ones are best used for omelettes, etc. Older eggs that have been in the fridge for a week or two will peel much better. I learned that secret from an egg farmer, lol.
Many thanks but im wondering to just try peeling the egg at that point and avoid the whole second step? I have never heard of collapsing the air chamber thanks !!
Many thanks for sharing this invaluable post. I have had so many problems peeling boiled eggs; especially the newly laid eggs, that it ends up with 75% of the newly laid egg still in the shell and the only part of the egg I got was the yolk. Cheers mate and may thanks again!
Goodness gracious. I didn't know anybody having a problem peeling boiled eggs! Eggs with cracked shells will leak out when boiling. The best is crack it on the air cell side after boiling. You have a convenient depression from where you can start peeling.
I didn't think this would work because it's so simple compared to the other videos, but it worked! Only thing is I just rolled the boiled egg on a flat surface like a plate instead of shaking it in a container, peels right off afterwards.
I remember when I was younger we would go on whole family picnics, cousins aunts and uncles. Each family would prepare part of the food to take. Peeling eggs was a job of the kids, I don’t remember us having an issue, now being 67 it is an issue. I have tried new eggs, older eggs, softer / harder boiled. Cold plunging, running water , cracking and letting the water penetrate between the shell membrane and egg, shaking singly, doubly Plus more in a container. My best guess is the longer you keep them prior to boiling is the key. Just my opinion. I will give this method a go,😊.
A similar trick is to boil 2-4 eggs, pour off part of the water, lower into sink and shake the pot (carefully); then put cracked eggs immediately into cold bowl of water, and shells slip off. Usually works- the results shown in this video look more consistent.
I think when you boil the eggs directly from the fridge, that's what makes the shell difficult to peel. I would leave the eggs on the counter for an hour or two before boiling, can even leave them out the night before. Also if you pour cold water over the hot eggs to stop them from overcooking, that will also make the shells sticky.
But by what method do you boil the eggs? Do you simmer it for a certain length of time? It looks like you actually have a rapid boil going. For how long do you boil? These are important questions to answer.
As kids our grandmother would place hard boiled egg still hot from the pot into canning jar a third to half full of cold water from the frig, add 2 to 3 ice cubes, place the lid and ring on it, and hand a jar to each of us kids to shake while she shook one of her own.
UA-cam for the win !!!! Just made eggs for ham salad, this worked like a charm. Of course doesn’t work for Easter Eggs, but otherwise never going back. Am surprised the whites weren’t even damaged, so should even work fine for deviled eggs.
Thank you for uploading this video clip, I have no problem getting the shells off. However, some my family members and friends lol do. I will share this information to them. I've try over to show my method to no Advil. Thanks again Florida USA 😊Rainbow 🌈Chef 😊🙏🙏👍👍👍👍👍

If I hadn't seen this, I would never have believed it was so easily done. Does it work for soft boiled eggs too?
Did you ever try a teaspoon of vinegar in the water since the eggs peel comes off fast and easy since it kind of make the peel softer.
Amazing!!! I’ll try this!!
It works.. but water is not needed (in the bowl) as it may mash / spoil the egg if bowl is shaken hard. Also, it works with one egg at a time.. Though not tried with more than one egg in a bowl.
Start in what temp water? How long boiling?
Cold water, bring to light boil and simmer 5 minutes.
Start in cool water, bring to a boil, boil for 1 minute. Turn off the heat and cover the pot. Let sit for 10 minutes and then drain. No green yolks and easy peeling with this method.
I’m gonna try it! Thanks!
Whattttt. This is too cool. How long do you boil your eggs?
The best method I've found is: bring water to medium simmer, place COLD eggs into water using a spoon, cook 13 minutes, place eggs in ice water for 15 minutes. Perfect every time.
Do you put the egg in the water BEFORE it boils? How long do I cook it for?
I'll try that, thanks. Removing eggshells is always a frustrating chore.
Does this work for soft boiled eggs as well?
🤷♀️ WOW ! 👍 Interesting !👌 That's a Cool Technique to shell the boiled 🥚's. Tkx 🤩 🇮🇳
Looks like a great way to insure you can eggs to cut in half for Devil Eggs❗️👍
Many thanks for sharing this invaluable post. I have had so many problems peeling boiled eggs; especially the newly laid eggs, that it ends up with 75% of the newly laid egg still in the shell and the only part of the egg I got was the yolk. Cheers mate and may thanks again!
Goodness gracious. I didn't know anybody having a problem peeling boiled eggs! Eggs with cracked shells will leak out when boiling. The best is crack it on the air cell side after boiling. You have a convenient depression from where you can start peeling.
This is Genius ❤️👍🏼
I didn't think this would work because it's so simple compared to the other videos, but it worked! Only thing is I just rolled the boiled egg on a flat surface like a plate instead of shaking it in a container, peels right off afterwards.
How good is that! Thanks ❤
Ty for the letting me know this hack ❤
Thank You! Game changer!!
This is just amazing!!
AMAZING! THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!
Finally a good hard boiled egg video bro❤ thanks
I remember when I was younger we would go on whole family picnics, cousins aunts and uncles.
Each family would prepare part of the food to take. Peeling eggs was a job of the kids, I don’t remember us having an issue, now being 67 it is an issue. I have tried new eggs, older eggs, softer / harder boiled. Cold plunging, running water , cracking and letting the water penetrate between the shell membrane and egg, shaking singly, doubly Plus more in a container.
My best guess is the longer you keep them prior to boiling is the key. Just my opinion.
I will give this method a go,😊.
Super ! Did you think of it ?
A similar trick is to boil 2-4 eggs, pour off part of the water, lower into sink and shake the pot (carefully); then put cracked eggs immediately into cold bowl of water, and shells slip off. Usually works- the results shown in this video look more consistent.
Without a doubt, if I crack an egg before boiling it, it WILL leak. Either before I cook it or during. I'll give it a try though. Thank you!
You, Sir, deserve the Nobel prize
You’re a Genius it works!😊thanks
Amazing hack! Bless you for sharing it.
You mean to tell me for 60 years I have been peeling egg shells the wrong way?
😄
Wow this is so cool! Thanks so much. I will definitely try this!
I'll try it. How old is the egg?
Now I'm gona have to try it.
As kids our grandmother would place hard boiled egg still hot from the pot into canning jar a third to half full of cold water from the frig, add 2 to 3 ice cubes, place the lid and ring on it, and hand a jar to each of us kids to shake while she shook one of her own.
In the winter I use snow and water.
Thank you king!! Salute Salute!
That's brilliant!!! Thnx for the tip 👍
