Honestly the softish front end of the 997 didn't do a whole lot for me. But after having had the chance to drive one with the 6spd, that all went out the window. Such a fun pure sports driving car 🔥👌
The 997 2 is where it's at! The DFI engine on it has super quick throttle response and pulls so hard! They have sky rocket in price but worth every penny.
Maintenance is not that bad on these as well, especially if you have an example without any bore score or coolant issues. Frequent replacement of the serpentine belt and thermostats are definitely a must though.
It's also the easiest car to do an oil change on. I do mine by driving the rear wheels over two 2x6 boards. You can reach the drain plug and filter without getting under the car. I also fit a whole hockey bag in the frunk.
Agreed. Needs new center caps. And they need to be lined up with the tire valve stem. That little attention to detail completes the rest of the tasteful stuff that’s been done.
I'm actually going to buy my first 997.2 in PDK, soon..My last 2 911's were 997.1's in Manual. I agree with this generation (the .1) you can't get auto b/c it the tiptronic, but for the .2's, I the PDK or manual are good.
Honestly, they both have their time and place. If you had to get any automatic transmission, PDK is definitely the one I'd want, by far. We recently filmed a 992 Turbo S and the PDK gearbox is right at home there. Keep an eye out for that review coming soon. Congrats on the new 911!
Great video, these do feel well under priced here in the UK. The difference between the .1 and .2 here is about double the price. I'm contemplating buying a 2006 for £25k and then taking it on a £20k 'touring' modifcation journey....
Thank you! If there's any time to get one of these 997's we feel it's now, great value and fun for the price. Your touring modification journey also sounds like something we can definitely get behind and would love to follow along with. All the best to you on that journey if you decide to go for it, We personally hope you do!
@@2fast2nick Yes, they are a small number, but the repair is expensive. It also happens more commonly up north. Don't get me wrong, this potential problem does not put me off, but I need a borescope to ensure the example is good. In my case, when I called the dealer, it was already sold.
@@Octane.Vision I’ve been doing my research and it seems that most ppl prefer the center muffler delete since deleting the side mufflers are too loud. So as of now I’m leaning to the shark werks exhaust. I still have made up my mind yet though.
I bring a silk handkerchief to wipe the gas nozzle before it can drip and dirty the car. I then throw away the handkerchief. I joke! That's ridiculous. My butler does that!
Great car, just put the spoiler down when driving slowly! Porsche went to great lengths to keep it down for astatic reasons. Respect that. Also the PDK is great, rowing gears is overrated. Especially in a 997.
You're preaching to the choir about the spoiler. We think it's funny when people park their cars in the sport mode with the wing up! PDK is fantastic, however we really enjoyed the manual in this 997. You'll have to check back next week when we review a 992 Turbo S. Thanks for watching! 👍
Hey Andrew, you've got keen ears. That noise you're hearing is actually the optional speed warning that the owner of this car setup. It's hard to stay under the limit in a car like this :) Thanks for watching!
Own a 2006 Boxster S and can confirm the doors are solid. The worst part about them is how long the doors are. Even if you park 3 feet away from the next car you still risk dinging them just to get out. They are absurd.
A Doug DeMuro x Octane Vision collab coming soon 😂 Lets get this video to 100 likes!
Enjoyed your video. I’m picking up my 997 S2 this weekend and can’t wait
Glad you enjoyed it! That's amazing, congrats! What colour is it? Stoked for you, you're going to love it.
Love my 2014. 991.1… I have owned 104 cars in 42 years, but none compare to a Porsche 911… amazing and solid built car like no other.
Wow. 104 cars?! That's incredible.. I love that you come back to a 911 after all that. Really shows how amazing these cars are. Cheers!
2006 is the best year too because IMS was nearly worked out by then before going to direct injection.
Dude you need more views. Liked this vid a lot
Appreciate that dude! Glad you enjoyed it. Spread the word and we'll keep creating the content!!
Manual 997.1. Love the sound. What a great car that’s underrated. Loads of fun without crazy price tag!
We had so much fun reviewing this car. It truly is an underdog in the 911 line up! Cheers 👍

Not to mention the engine in the .2 is much more reliable than the .1. I agree though, definitely worth it!
It’s sounds shit though! 997.1 has small % with issues but superb cars! And sound way better, like water cooled air cooled engine.
@@stevewatson4978 The 997.2 has a middle 3rd muffler which can be easily deleted with a straight X pipe to make it sound awesome!
We like the sounds of that....
@@713vinh My friend has done that, sounds better but nothing like my 997.1 with Milltek exhaust!
Bought a 997.1 C2s manual for 24k rebuilt title but it's a cherry. 42k miles. I don't think I'll ever sell it.
Amazing. Continue to enjoy it and don't sell it if you can! Such a fun car.

You had me at double cup holders. The pop out was so satisfying.
As satisfying as the door close? 😉
You want to know what's more German? You can flip out just one and then push the flap back in to hide the access panel. My son figured that out lol.

Bro the way you described that upshift sound at 10:01 is literally the reason I bought a Porsche 😂
Lmao that's amazing. We thought we may be the only ones who understood! Probably one of the best noises ever.
Maintenance is not that bad on these as well, especially if you have an example without any bore score or coolant issues. Frequent replacement of the serpentine belt and thermostats are definitely a must though.
Good to know! From what the owner told me, he's only ever needed to do 1 or 2 small maintenance jobs the whole time since owning. I'll take it!
It's also the easiest car to do an oil change on. I do mine by driving the rear wheels over two 2x6 boards. You can reach the drain plug and filter without getting under the car. I also fit a whole hockey bag in the frunk.
Well, that's a great way to save some money. Oil changes from the dealer definitely wouldn't be cheap! 👌
Got my 997.1 for under 30k, worth much more in my opinion! The lower purchase price left plenty of budget for a Fabspeed exhaust, couldn't be happier
Unreal! We agree, there is so much more value in these 997's. I bet yours sounds incredible!
Hi any details about the Rims ?
What is your filming setup mate? TYIA
At the time of making this video we were using a Sony A7SII with Sony 35mm F1.8 (we still use it as a "B" camera today)
Agreed. Needs new center caps. And they need to be lined up with the tire valve stem. That little attention to detail completes the rest of the tasteful stuff that’s been done.
It's the small details that really add up. I'll see if I can convince the owner to source black center caps. Thanks for watching!
