Great car ❤️ I have an 05 C2S . Still drives and feels like new every time I drive it. There's nothing you can compare a 911 to. And I've drove a few fast cars in my time. Porsche had it spot on with the 997.

Well said. Speaking of electric cars a few local 996 TT and 997 S owners admitted to me they are selling to get a Model 3. Gas prices are skyrocketing in BC Canada that is pushing some to go electric.
997.2 Carrera S is amazing. My good friend has one and it’s such a great and quick car. Added the DSC controller for a nice dynamic suspension upgrade. Great car for the money. 2009+ has the good engine.
@@alsatch_ Hi. sorry for the late reply, only three years later! I still have it and am not going to shift it. It’s garaged every night and is virtually flawless in Arctic Silver. The wheels are stock lobster claws and were professionally refurbed recently and a brand new set of pilot N2’s. It’s a completely stock 997. Talking of home maintenance I changed out the vacuum valves for the sports exhaust recently as one of them failed. Porsche said it was a complete exhaust system to fix! The phone module has failed, that’s the only issue I have with it although not bothered. Its only service it at a specialist nowadays and am going to be driving the same car when I’m retired in about 15 years. Like you say,it’ll be a bit special then. Cheers.

I just emailed a deposit to a guy today and am driving to Calgary tomorrow with my brother-in-law to pick up a 911 Carrera 4S 997. Will be a big day. I have wanted one for 38 years now so I am finally getting it. It has all the sport options too seemingly so I am getting quite excited. Thanks for the video. I subscribed to your channel. I just did a video in which I show the different depreciation curves for the 997 model. As you mention, they are not yet at the point of the 996 in terms of depreciation. Give it a few more years and they will be a steal. The spec on the car is btw perfect!
Liked and subscribed. Having owned a 911SC, a 993 Targa and currently a 997 Gen 2 Targa 4S I appreciate exactly what you are saying about the Porsche marque and the 997 in particular. The appreciation in my 993 enabled me to buy the 997 and whilst I miss the 993, the 997 is much easier to live with and I have no desire for the bulkier 991 and 992 models. Regardless of which Porsche model you aspire to or which you currently own I think the Porsche "family" that you will belong to is an enthusiasts family that won't judge you for the particular car you have but rather for having the good taste to buy into the marque in the first place.
Great video. Currently saving for a 997 myself. I love the speed yellow, but I would love to see the updated tail lights on your car! They look loads better than the 996 style tail lights
Great video. I’ve had many Porsches including 3 997 models, one was a 2007 Turbo, with mods! Still regret selling it. I’m older now and my 991S with PDK is a good fit but the 997 is a special car for sure!
I agree I have a 997.2 4S and you are right there are faster cars now on paper but so what the car I own is way too fast as it is but the drive really engaging and raw. The car is also very small by comparison to new 911's and made in a much less high production way. I have been tempted a few times to sell and re buy a later model but I really won't anytime soon
Good Video, I just bought my 997.2 GTS Coupe Manual Transmission. The only Manual GTS Coupe RWD nationwide, and I love it more than the 992 T Manual, perhaps because I like Mechanical analog stuff.
I’ve had a Gards red 997 turbo trip, then after a couple of years got a 997 triple black carbon convertible also trip. I love the 997! Now I’ve got a 997 gen 2 turbo s. It’s white with red leather with stitching . This is a car I will keep . I don’t belong to a club but will love to hook up to share the love of Porsche. Mind bending performance . Ah there's the 911 we love to see! Such a beautiful car and something to be proud of for sure. You hit the 10 point spot on, I agree the 997 will become a desirable classic.Nice video mate.
Roger Bailey thanks Roger. These cars need to be driven otherwise it’s pointless even owning in my opinion. Life is short. Enjoy it. Thanks for watching 👍👌
So funny that you mention space in the car. I have a 2006 997.1 and I've used it to bring my gear to gigs (bass player). I can get a small amplifier in the back seat, my instrument in the passenger seat, and my other random bits in the boot if I need to. It's really pretty amazing.
Sorry to hear you may be leaving YT. I have a 986 and some of your tips or things no to do really x2 did help the french enthusiast I am. Whatever you decide your videos where 👍🏻👍🏻. May be you should ignore the haters ? But I understand the trouble (letters to neighbors, police, etc. unbelievable stupidity). With all my support and regards. yves, from Paris 🇫🇷
I own a 997.2 GTS 2012, this is as special car, was the last year 997 production, and was the last 911 that was produced by Porsche, after 991 the productions was made by Volkswagen, ill keep my 997 forever.
Great video. Hadn't had a 911 for a few years, back in 2000, because I didn't care for the 996- too big, far too much over steer. In 2006 I stopped into the local dealer and drove a Carrera S, 6 speed, Cabrio. I bought it on the spot. I am with you, the 991 and 992 are too large for me- they feel like sedans. Even though my car is now 14 years old, I love to drive it today as much as the first time. Can't see that I will ever sell it.
Beautiful, drop dead gorgeous car. And that’s from someone who would probably have never otherwise been interested in yellow as a car color. Gotta hand it to you.
My dad bought a 2007 997 C4S Cabriolet in Atlas Grey with grey seats and a manual transmission a couple years ago (early 2017). The car had about 23,000 miles on it and we've put another 10K on it since, but we want to keep driving it and enjoying it. My dad keeps it garaged and details it pretty often so it'll be in good condition for years to come 🙂
I bought last week a 997.2 GTS PDK cabrio and I love it. I would have prefer a manual gearbox, but I think manual gearbox is not compatible with cabrio concept, and cabrio for me was a need for pleasure. The engine is a beast: the sport plus mode acceleration literally breaks my neck.
jlredo great to hear you will live the car & no doubt already do. The pdk/Tiptronic was a very popular option for cabrio owners so there are a lot of them around. I can very much see the appeal of a pdk on a cabrio. Thanks for watching please subscribe if you haven’t already. 👌👍
Enjoyed your video. The yellow is stunning. The looks, size, sounds, NA power are just right. I sold my 993 C4S a few years back and have driven a couple 2005 997.1 S manual in the last 12 months. Soon I will get one! (And do IMS immediately) For a price example here in BC: 2005 C2S 120km $33k USD ($44k CAD) IMS not done. GT silver on stone grey with adaptive sport seats no accidents.
My wife and I also have a 997 4S in BRG. I loved your list, but one point made me smile: the utility of the 997, including “camping.” Apparently camping in the UK is much different than the American West. Great video though 👊🏼
Closing on a house May 1st, then buying a 997! I’ve been researching models, features and pricing and it’s all very encouraging to get such a loved car for a reasonable price. I’ve enjoyed watching your videos and opinions about your Porsches.
Greg Kinton thanks Greg you will not regret buying a 997, so many options and variations to look out for. Good luck with the house hope it all goes smoothly. 👌
Jake B always loved the C63, but for the money I think the appeal of a brand like Porsche would win a lot of people over. Glad your enjoying your 997. 👌👍
I bought my 997S with a 6 speed box (manual is the only way to go for a sports car) a few years ago. When I was looking for my 911, I drove the 991. I found the car was too big, the steering was numb and the gear box had 1 too many gears. It's a nice car but it's not my idea of a sports car. When I drove the 997 it felt so analog in comparison. The 6 gears are the right pattern and the feel of the hydraulic steering is sooo good. I unplugged the flaps (to open position) on the sports exhaust and installed stiffer motor mounts. It's perfection. Puts a cheshire cat size smile on my face everytime I drive it.
Totally agree, my 991.1 Turbo was very fast, but it was quite boring after the first few weeks. I like the manual gearbox, the sound, and analog feel of my 7.2 GT3. ALWAYS makes me grin like a kid!
I've owned my 997.1 for 5 years, and i absolutely love it. Problem free, and tons of fun. It keeps going up in value :) ......at least here in the U.S. Good video.. Thanks.
Although I'm very late to the party, just wanted to echo your thoughts. I'm in the States with a 2006 Carrera 4, manual trans. It's been meticulously maintained and has 110,000 miles on it. I'm the original owner and I think it's the best car I've ever owned and have no plans to part with it. .
I almost bought a 997.2 GTS last year. Took a test drive expecting to be blown away but compared to my previous Cayman 981 S it was a bit disappointing. A bit too big and too much road noise. Found a fantastic Cayman 981 GTS 6 speed manual. Cost me £10K more than the 997 but absolutely no regrets. Had a 991 loan car for 2 days last week. Way too big, power isn’t everything. Couldn’t wait to get my Cayman back. 981 Cayman for me is the perfect road going, modern Porsche. 😎
Your Cars looks really fantastic, the Kit makes the best looking front of all times. I own a 997.1 c2s Standard, and it makes a lot of fun for me. Maybe i upgrade the front and back sometime
I missed a 997.2 gts cab by a couple of days, sick about it. Instead, I got a 997 S cab yesterday from the original owner, pretty happy about it. Saved myself about $16,000 over the GTS.
There are many saloons , as you say in the UK, and sports cars way less expensive, that will out perform the 997, even the 991. I think the most unique attribute of the 911 which make so amazing is it is well SO UNIQUE, it is special.
I knew this car would be a future classic car. it has that timeless design. Especially the GT2 RS. The sound, the style, the speed. It's way out of my budget though haha, but it's such a great car.
If I don't pick my son up I'm my 997.1 he complains. You kinda of touched on it, maybe I'm just saying this in another way, but this car connects the driver to the car to the road like few others.
Ronald VanRoekel completely agree Ronald. I do think the 991 is a good car don’t get me wrong, but it doesn’t quite engage like the 997 does (in my opinion) thanks for watching 👌👍
John Howell so long as it all checks out I have no problems with buying used 911’s. For a lot of people it’s the only way into Porsche ownership, and that’s how I got into Porsche ownership by buying an 11k 996 911, loved that car. Good luck with your search. Treat yourself. You only live onceZ
Driver 81 Porsche If I had a choice between a low mileage 986 or a higher mileage 987, what would be the better choice? Same thing goes for the 996 and 997. Thanks for your help.
John Howell I would personally go for the higher mileage 987 or 997. If there have been any issues with these engines the chances are it has been sorted out, and a used car is one that is less likely to go wrong. In a less used car, it means they have been sitting, and this is more likely to cause a problem especially for the IMS.
Sash your car is stunning. Lovely lovely wheels and body kit. So right about drivers feeling and steering The new ones look lovely but you could be driving something else - no distinctive Porsche feeling.
Took mine camping in France once and the look on the people’s faces when they saw the amount of kit that came out of it was mega. Then when I had finished putting up the tent and we were having tea a Dutch guy came over and said we are all amazed at what you can get in a 911. I said yes but that’s not the best part, I said this is the best camping vehicle because now it’s empty look what we now have to power round the region in..... he laughed and agreed. Happy days
Buck McAntlerson cheers Buck. I do love it but at times I think I need to make the step upto GT3. My problem is that I want a GT3 and I want to keep this car 🤔
Buck McAntlerson I’ve actually looked at that haha. Catch 22 though. Buy a warehouse then have to save up again for a Gt3. Then the wife will no doubt want a new kitchen 😭😭
I agree with every point. Have been looking for a 997.2 and unfortunately a 2012 991.1 is currently a better value. I may end up defaulting to the next generation (991) for perceived value and just enjoy the nicer interior and electronics. Hopefully a manual 2011 white 997 2s will appear soon for me. Cheers!
FoesFlyDennis there is no doubt the 991.1 is a good car. It is all down to personal preference. They are starting to grow on me a bit again to be honest. A white gen 2 997, good luck with that there can’t be too many of those around. Thanks for watching 👍
Bought a White GTS last February. Just got her down from her winter (Iowa/U.S.) slumber and it was pure joy again to take her out. Zero regrets. Love your Speed Yellow. I get enough looks now, that would be over the top :). My son loves the car too. It will be his some day as I don’t long for a GT3. Hoping to “go crazy” with grandkids in the back listening to her howl....and BOOM another Porsche lover is born.
I sold my 997 2s and bought a 991 4s with aerokit, ceramic brakes and more options than you can shake a stick at plus it's a manual with carbon bucket seats, they are out there but you have to search as I did, and the reason I bought this one, well its an ending, the last of the pure normally aspirated big porsches.
@@ianrivers3955 that is encouraging to hear. And I feel the same about what you said, the 991.1 is the last, larger displacement engine which I assume should require less maintenance. And although I really like the proportions of the 997 and its pre-Volkswagon pedigree, I sure like the 991 interior. Also more HP with less weight. Both are beautiful and classic.
I paid $26,000 for my 81 930 back in 19861 Now they are worth over $100,000 in fair condition! Close to $150,000 in excellent condition or restored! So just because Im leaning toward the GTR, does not mean Im down on Porsche 911's! I wish I could find a reasonably priced 1995 993 Turbo! But now you taking $200,000 Plus!
I love my 997.2...but I’m a little nervous owning this car out of warranty. I just read that PDK replacement cost $24k! Can’t be fixed. Go on Rennlist and search. Thinking of selling mine and buying a Lotus...Toyota engine and transmission.
Hi... love the show and adore the 997 is there key things you would look for and to avoid in the 997.. i want to spend 25 to 30k as a budget... I had a 987 so wondering if I should stick with the 987 or venture to the 997 . Thanks
Great Video. I would love to buy a 997 GTS someday too. I remember you mentioning a 991 GT3 on a previous video, have you thought about a 981 GT4? Cheaper, Smaller, Manual ;)
Nathan Runciman the Gt3 has been in the pipeline for a while yeah, the problem is there has always been something that has got in the way. Still working towards it but don’t have a clear date on when it will happen yet. Thanks for watching Nathan 👍👌
mihneah_i thanks for watching mate nice to see a POSITIVE comment. Amazing how many people watch the videos and then pick a single negative bit and comment on that.
Hi I’ve owned a 2007 c2s for 9 years now and I’m just thinking of doing the major service for the first time the cars has done 34000 do you think this is advisable ,the service record show independent Porsche specialist to date Do you service yours ? Great vid ,997s rock!
I would be interested to know how many 997 owners have replaced the IMS bearing and how may might have had to replace the the engine due to IMS bearing failure,
PDK IS THE BEST ....I love the PDK on my 911 Turbos S 2017 ....I am tired of noise can not hear the passenger chatting in your car but mine is perfect and can eat your car for breakfast ..... so do not put down the PDK system ... I had manual cars all my life but PDK is the best for me ...good luck to you
I own a racing yellow 2014 911.1........but I went out today to look at a 997.1 in speed yellow, and what an awesome looking car. I wonder if my wife would understand me having two yellow 911’s 😂😂 hey I just bought her a Tesla Model 3.....so I’m going for it 😂😂
997 so much better looking than the 996 fried egg lights. I still prefer the interior and rear lights of the 991 than the 997 but other than that the 997 would be my choice for a 911. Classic status beckons.
Steve Cade agree to an extent that the 991 has a good interior. It’s very comfortable but just a smidgen too big for my liking (for a sports car) thanks for watching 👍👌
Driver 81 Porsche exactly, I own a 997 C2S convertible, I many times drove the 991.1 and .2 (about 3000km) and yes they are more comfortable, a little bit faster and with more fancy technology (and have front parking sensors and auto lighting :D) BUT for me the 997 is just more pure driving, its nimble and sometimes raw compared to modern cars, it doesnt have the nonsense of too many systems which it will make it horrific during its aging.

I have 997.1S silver, it s a true sportscar with a classic look.
991 and 992 are clearly GT, bigger and more comfortable.
Love your 997 speed yellow.
I Love this car, i have one too a 997 Turbo (2008) for 3 years and i‘m going to keep this 🤤
Afro Gamers great stuff. I bet the turbo is rapid yeah? Thanks for watching 👍👌
I'm leaning towards the 2010 cabriolet Porsche 911 turbo all black what are your thoughts? Please let me know asap
Let us know what you are smoking. Got to be be good stuff!
@@inikkor61I don't smoke, sorry, I drive only.
@@inikkor61 Good one lol
Great video. Hadn't had a 911 for a few years, back in 2000, because I didn't care for the 996- too big, far too much over steer. In 2006 I stopped into the local dealer and drove a Carrera S, 6 speed, Cabrio. I bought it on the spot. I am with you, the 991 and 992 are too large for me- they feel like sedans. Even though my car is now 14 years old, I love to drive it today as much as the first time. Can't see that I will ever sell it.
Excellent review video sir.. Straightforward, no nonsense and all the info an enthusiast needs.. 👍
Mother Hen thanks for watching appreciate your comment 👍👌
Beautiful, drop dead gorgeous car. And that’s from someone who would probably have never otherwise been interested in yellow as a car color.
Gotta hand it to you.
Rayhand. I have to agree. I hate yellow on cars but it kind looks right on the Porsche.
jlredo congrats. Cabrio are lovely cars indeed
Really looking at getting a 997 and just looking for the right one. Great video and good to hear your views. Yours looks stunning 👍🏼
Buy mine 😀 Got to say the 997 is a phenomenal car. I came from an AMG C63 with no regrets 👍🏻
Jake B always loved the C63, but for the money I think the appeal of a brand like Porsche would win a lot of people over. Glad your enjoying your 997. 👌👍
I’m partial to the Cayman but the 911 is lovely. Nice to see it again.
Nate Mallory yeah still love the cayman but need to mix up the content now & again my friend. Thanks for watching. 👌
I love my 2007 911 Carrera 4S Six Speed!
Agreed, 997 is a stunning looking car.
100% agree Davon. Thanks for watching again my friend.
You are spot on. One of or maybe the best reviews I have seen.
@@pdds1I'm sure it's a blast........ I'm going for a drive!
Agreed. When I drove a 991.1S I thought it felt more like my Mk7 GTI than my 997.1 C2 (but obviously way more capable). Very different driving feel.
Glad to see the drone back in action. good to see another video out.
Coyote Vapor Works thank you sir. Always striving to make the videos better, just finding the time is my biggest problem. Love making them though. 👌
Great vid - I bought a 997.2 C4S PDK with sport chrono and PSE in January and it’s definitely a keeper 👍
I have a 2009 C4S PDK. it’s an amazing car.
I've owned my 997.1 for 5 years, and i absolutely love it. Problem free, and tons of fun. It keeps going up in value :) ......at least here in the U.S. Good video.. Thanks.
Always had BMWs mainly M3 still own f80 M3 but purchased a 997 gen1 4s on Boxing Day. Eagerly waiting delivery 😊
Although I'm very late to the party, just wanted to echo your thoughts. I'm in the States with a 2006 Carrera 4, manual trans. It's been meticulously maintained and has 110,000 miles on it. I'm the original owner and I think it's the best car I've ever owned and have no plans to part with it. .
Love my 997s. Bought it new in 2005
I almost bought a 997.2 GTS last year.
Very interesting opinion, it’s widely known that the Cayman is the better car but the 911 has the history and for me it looks better.
Thank you for the info Picking up my 2006 911 s this week can't wait
I have officially fallen in love with the 997, I will go find one
Sold my 997...miss it. 👍👍👍 Great size. Drove a 991, hour right pretty big.
Cracking film Satch, as ever. Love the drone work.
Simon Mayes thanks Simon. Love these naughty drone shots I have to say. Thanks for watching 👍👌
That car is absolutely stunning! And with the look of the 911, you could paint it any color you wanted, and it would still be magnificent!
John Howell completely agree john. Any colour would do the car justice in my opinion. Thanks for watching 👍👌
Driver 81 Porsche I'm still looking for a Porsche that I can afford. Maybe a used 911 would be a good option.
So right about drivers feeling and steering The new ones look lovely but you could be driving something else - no distinctive Porsche feeling.
nice video....I watch all of your uploads. I have a 2015 981 GTS simply like the way a Porsche can give you pure driving pleasure....
Happy days
You should make a video on how the Porsche Cayman R is one of the most over looked rare Porsche
This car is just about perfection IMO. And I mean YOUR car.
Buck McAntlerson cheers Buck. I do love it but at times I think I need to make the step upto GT3. My problem is that I want a GT3 and I want to keep this car 🤔
@@alsatch_ Solution - Buy a warehouse. Keep them all. Problem solved.
You're welcome, Sir. 😉
Buck McAntlerson I’ve actually looked at that haha. Catch 22 though. Buy a warehouse then have to save up again for a Gt3. Then the wife will no doubt want a new kitchen 😭😭
2013 -- 991.1 C4S is the best to collect 50th Anniversary ...maybe not the badged 50th, but GREAT 911
On my 3rd 997.... love them..
Watched alot of your vids. #subscribed
Never get tired of seeing that beauty!!
K1dPhresh1 thanks there will be plenty more content on the 997 this summer. Thanks for watching 👌👌
I used to own a 1981 930 911! No one loves Porsches more than me! It had 300HP and was a bullet back then!
michael parham I wish u kept it. Very sought after now
This is Ray in California. I have a 2019 Cayenne with the turbo six. Plenty of torque and speed, thank you very much. Want to get a 911 down the road.
Lovely 997 definitely on my list of potential next cars. Great videos as well keep it up!
P W thanks P W. You would not regret buying a 997 I can 100% assure you of that. Thanks for watching. Plenty more 997 content coming soon.
@@alsatch_ My 987 Cayman S is still keeping me happy for now. Great Cayman videos as well!
P W thanks. Plenty more cayman stuff coming soon also. 👌
Love the fact that it is yellow, beside the fact that it’s a Porsche!
mihneah_i thanks for watching mate nice to see a POSITIVE comment. Amazing how many people watch the videos and then pick a single negative bit and comment on that.
Driver 81 Porsche trolls that have nothing better to do...
Glenn Pickin can you just message me when my MOT’s, tax, insurance is due mate? Would make my life a lot easier. Thanks 👌
Great video and attitude. Thank you!
I still like the 991.1 over the 997.2
both are awsome cars, but 991 interior is much better and exterior is equally appealing.
Hi I’ve owned a 2007 c2s for 9 years now and I’m just thinking of doing the major service for the first time the cars has done 34000 do you think this is advisable ,the service record show independent Porsche specialist to date
Do you service yours ?
Great vid ,997s rock!
Luv my 06 Carrera S, going on 11 years now !!!
james s great to hear have you owned from new?
The thing is, with a 911 the experience is unique at ANY price. Rear engine unique, looks unique
The camera shots are outstanding
I would be interested to know how many 997 owners have replaced the IMS bearing and how may might have had to replace the the engine due to IMS bearing failure,
bought a 997.2 for 30K NZ,, engine was buggered, 28K NZ for a full rebuild, fantastic car,, even with 160K klm's on the clock.
I wonder if my wife would understand me having two yellow 911’s 😂😂 hey I just bought her a Tesla Model 3.....so I’m going for it 😂😂
I bought a new 718, which handles better than my 987 did by a long way and has a fold down roof.
I know 3 paramedics who regularly see serious head injuries to crashed convertible cars. They wouldn’t take one if it was given free to them!
Biggest issue with the 997.1, especially the 3.8L S and 4S, is bore scoring. Any ppi must include a bore scope.
I have a '07 997 Carrera 4 Cabrio and it's really wonderful.
I've just seen your latest video where you talk of closing the channel, please don't let a small minority ruin it for the rest of us. Also... Wtaf is wrong with people, posting letters in a hate campaign to your neighbours, that's fn mental!
