It's not. I sell it in smaller quantities because the average person doesn't need 1lb of solder. It's actually a loss leader. I don't make any profit on it after tax and postage
@@TheCod3r Well i don't agree with the assessment, but i do appreciate you didn't just delete the comment; others can check our claims if they want so it shows you have nothing you are trying to hide. So all is good.
@@shambleslongplay3566 I do let it be known Kester can be bought for around £45 on Amazon US if people have it imported. But what I'm doing is providing a smaller quantity to people who either don't want to wait 3 weeks for imports or don't want a full reel. I'm happy to give the math on the entire reel 453g on each reel so 9 x 50g @ £13.50 per pack = £121.50. Take 2% for payment fees and that's £119.07 - £45 cost is £74.07. It costs me £1.45 for RM first class, 30p for additional packaging (printing, internal packaging etc) plus 80p for a bubble pack and that's £2.55 postage per pack. Multiply that by the 9 packs and that's £22.95 in post and packaging. Deduct that from the £74.07 and then take 20% off for tax and it leaves £40.89. So essentially I'm hand reeling 450g (or more specifically 450m as 1g is 1m on this specific size kester) for £40.89 profit. So not quite a loss leader, but it doesn't really make much profit all things considered. It takes a few hours to hand reel that much solder off a reel, weigh it, bag it and package it up. So when you think about it, I'm probably working for about £15 per hour. Yes it's a good wage but I'm definitely not getting rich from it. It's more just an option to provide quality solder to people who need it. Hopefully those numbers are understandable. There's a lot there but they're accurate numbers 😉
If you only charge £50 plus parts then you are robbing yourself. You should charge more just for being a celebrity fixer! Add a "repaired by the Cod3r" sticker for good measure.. To be fair though, I don't know the going rate of any competitors out there, but you do such a thorough job you should charge appropriately
I'm definitely not a celebrity lol. That said, I'd only charge £50 on this job as a discounted rate because otherwise its not economical to do. The problem is any more and they're better off sending it to Sony as they charge £240 as a flat fee. In this case it's either I charge a little less or don't get paid, so I'd rather have something over nothing lol
@@TheCod3r you obviously know your business better, we just want you to get the best for what you do. We love watching and hopefully UA-cam keeps growing to a point that it can supplement the lower fee. One thing you have to remember is, I'm experienced. I can do certain things because I'm aware of what's going on. To some, probing 240v isn't perceived as dangerous and those people should never do something like that, because they have no awareness at all. Personally I know where I can and can not touch. I personally know and trust the equipment I use, and I'm always aware of what the limitations are
@@TheCod3r In the same video you have a cup of coffee on your workbench, right by exposed mains powered equipment and what looks like a low level mains supply. But what I'm doing is providing a smaller quantity to people who either don't want to wait 3 weeks for imports or don't want a full reel. I'm happy to give the math on the entire reel
453g on each reel so 9 x 50g @ £13.50 per pack = £121.50.
I win 😆
I win cuz I get it anyway lmao 🤣

@@TheCod3r ohh right ok sorry bud didn't know ....i look forward to seeing more content when your back
If you only charge £50 plus parts then you are robbing yourself.
You should charge more just for being a celebrity fixer! Add a "repaired by the Cod3r" sticker for good measure..
To be fair though, I don't know the going rate of any competitors out there, but you do such a thorough job you should charge appropriately
For sure. As a self employed person I only started charging what I should about 8 years in. £50 is way too cheap.
That way customers get a better price than sending to Sony and you get the financial reward you deserve.
Ps5 is the worst engineering design for a console ever
you make me laugh ;p our farting PS5 fixer ;p
Haha I played my trump card 🤣
@@TheCod3r Donald trump as nothing on you 😂😂
"Never do this"
Does this.
One day a dopey UA-camr will fry themselves on a livestream
One thing you have to remember is, I'm experienced. I can do certain things because I'm aware of what's going on. To some, probing 240v isn't perceived as dangerous and those people should never do something like that, because they have no awareness at all. Personally I know where I can and can not touch. I personally know and trust the equipment I use, and I'm always aware of what the limitations are
@@TheCod3r In the same video you have a cup of coffee on your workbench, right by exposed mains powered equipment and what looks like a low level mains supply. A healthy dose of over confidence, tiredness and knocked over cup of coffee is all it needs to experience the full joy of 240v at 12 amps. For your own safety stop and have a think about the safety of your work environment, then you might live long enough to appreciate a small bit of friendly advice. Good luck.
i win lol
It came into your possetion is what happened.
You weren't very gentle putting it on table.
How can I be gentle when it fell apart in my hand unexpectedly? The case isn't designed to slip off in your hand dude
You are good repairguy but PLEASE u are not good singer so just left singing out plz
Haha but my mom said I could sing 🤣 😂
Why 90% of UA-cam fixes, are PS5 (are they really that bad quality of consoles?)
They’re not bad quality at all, had one since launch day and only had one problem which went away on it’s own.
I think it's just the amount of consoles in circulation to be honest
@@Owen01 congratulations you one of the few lucky ppl. The rest are not so much.
@@lucassol7418 the rest ? You are making out like 90% of PS5s fail which isn’t the case you are just seeing the faulty ones on here not the ones that are perfectly fine they have sold almost 33 million units already you are bound to see duds
@@CH-bn7qb (the REST of UNLUCKY ppl) i never said 90% of ps5's (i said the fix shops business) are mainly ps5 with few thisng on side here and there, and not all repair shops are on UA-cam (same as my shop,/in less than 2 years) we got more business from ps5 than entire ps4 time. My question wasnt much of a question its just simply what we see.
This guy has been to prison!!! Be careful you shouldn't support this guy an ex jail bird!!
