phil. i lived in a graveyard ive never seen a ghost. orbs arent real what would you call this. one day out my fathers front window i seen a light quite large shooting in a z patern like something out of this planet. there was then videos on youtube of orbs moving slow which people sayed were lanterns by what they seen in the video as they were moving slow. it was in the papet the next dsy aswell im from scotland fife it was seen. well what i seen defenetly was a orb or what i will class a orb to be and it was clear as day infront of me. i wouldnt say orbs werent real at that time thats when the jerusalem ufo videos were on youtube after what i seen. which to me from a distance and not far looks like the same object and the way it was shooting across the sky as the jerusalem video. i dont know what it was but i defenetly wouldnt say it wasnt real id say a orbs a probe but thats my opinion. and i guess you have never seen one thats doesnt meen there not reel. guess to much people work to notice these things. just like you in your work space you say its not a orb. mebe not but id never say never
Thanks! Delighted you got it sorted. Also great to see you say thanks when a company does the right thing. Hopefully, it will influence other companies to do the right thing. Credit where credit is due.
Your work is so important, especially regarding long term usage of PS5s (>10 years) - those SSDs will fail and to know thats already fixable in 2023 gives me a a good feeling on my physical PS5 game collection, which I want to be able to play in 15-20 years (like with PS1/2/3/4 games). Thanks for your videos, keep it up!
That was an interesting way of using solder balls , most people leave the stencil in place when heating , I think most would be scared of the solder balls being blown away but as you said , you do it your way and what works for you works and gets the job done
You are a genius sir! I've grew up bad with ADHD , and electronics always was great for helping me focus , I absolutely love fixing consoles and small electronics. I'm definitely no professional, but I've been learning a ton more watching you!! You're a master of this. Thank you man!
I really felt this. Grew up with everyone knowing I had "something", I now know that thing is ADHD. I found repairs and skating, two things that are said to attract people with ADHD, they really help to put my mind at ease.
Didn't know i could like a prime account to Twitch. You taught me something just now. I will go link it to your channel after this video. I love the content and have learned so much from watching. Keep up the great work, brother.
Bro, you are fucking good!! I worked 6 years in Diagnostics for a PCB manufacturing company, I would x-ray PCBs and diagnose resistors, capacitors, ICD's . you are impressive mate
Hate to do this but the single chip was probably not containing a vital part of the boot config. Reset to factory defaults implies that the OS considered part of the SSD corrupt. You are going to need to replace all chips to 100% prove there is not a vital partition married to the hardware.
I dont think this is the case. Each nand splits data between eachotger for faster read and write speeds. So it's like a RAID setup. If one goes out, the rest go with it and no data can be read until the faulty one is fixed.
This is good news relating to repairing your own things. Although I'm really not a fan of soldered on SSD, at least these can be replaced, even though it's not a simple job. PS5 and Mac with M chips even with soldered on SSD are repairable. Meanwhile Microsoft's Xbox Series (with an internal M.2 SSD) is far worse than manufactures who solder the SSD.
The Chip you were pointing to at 31:47 and have not tried to replace should be easily replaceable. The reason for why I think that: its a DRAM Chip. 512Meg DDR3 SDRAM... The SIE CXD90061GG (north of the SSD, towards HDMI Ports) would be my worry, as well as the 16Mb Flash next to it.
Stellar job, Phil ... Many thanks for sharing the footage ... Let's just hope Sony doesn't "buckle-up" on this & lock the SSD chips on any future updates ... Cheers & all the best for 2023
You actual legend, well done mate! Not that I'd probably ever get to do this, but couple of questions. 1. Would it be safer to still replace all of them though because we cant check the TBW? If one chip had died because it were close to its max TBW, then maybe the others would be close too. Would save warranty returns. 2. How would you know which chip has died? Thanks!
I guess those are really the questions we need to find answers to. This was more just proof of concept but does leave a lot of unanswered questions 😵💫 I guess we will find out in time lol. In terms of faulty chips, a lot of the time memory will get hot when it goes bad. Sometimes you may have other signs though like strange readings on surrounding components. Other signs could be for example if one of the chips doesn't turn on when the others do (by using a thermal camera)
I have no idea why I find your videos so interesting....come across the ps5 one that u recorded on Xmas day n been down a bit of a rabbit hole....I know very little about this kind of stuff but would love to have your knowledge and skill
Great job, Phil! If I was a Sony developer, I would spread CoreOS with keys among all SSD chips, to provide higher availability. But who knows what was in their heads while they were in RND cycle. I believe they treat 6 chips as RAID5 or 5+1 array. Next step is to check 2 and 3 chips replacement
Well just a theory but what if the ssd is actually paired to the ps5 basically the same way as an xbox series x/s. What if there is some kind of 1GB (or something) partition on the ssd as on xbox? When you replaced just the ssd controller it worked because it was able to pull out that partition, when you replaced just 1 nand chip it was still able to pull it out (or atleast partially enough so it allowed new software to be installed), but when you replaced all the nand chips it wasnt able to? If that is the case how many nand chips are you able to replace? Again just a theory, maybe your first two attempts failed for entirely different reason.
g`day phil congratulations mate a world first by some bloke in his shed good on ya .. we will have to call this the phil procedure or maneuver your the louis rossman of ps 5 consoles what he has done for mac laptops you have done for the ps5..... nice work mate
This is great news well done on the swap mate and to confirm it works. Can you now confirm if u swap all 6 SSD IC's with known good ones will it still work?
Just joined the channel, mate. Hope it helps. Where do you get the soldier balls and stencils for chips? Also, what flux do you use? And what is the paste you spread out before you reball? Also, how do you know what ball size to use on chips?
Hi buddy! I have a PS5 with that SSD controller problem. According to the technician who did the diagnosis, he told me that it had a short circuit. My question is whether to change only the SSD controller IC or also the 6 black chips that are near the SSD controller or is it only necessary to replace that one that you shown in the video?
It's awesome that the ssd is proven to be replaceable. However to say that ps4 is fixed is kind of premature because you only replaced one os the 6 SSD chips and so any or even all of the others could be faulty too. If there was a way to test exactly which ssd is bad it would save you replacing all 6
When you say nothing is married to the apu? Wouldn't it be possible for sony to implement that in future updates so they can stop you from doing it? Like how they did with the ps4 when the disc drive busted. They stopped you from updating the console
Hey everyone. Check out this video if you want to see the SSD controller being replaced

You are making seriously impressive progress on all PS5 repair options Phil, you're a credit to the repair community !! Keep up the fantastic work !
Only a matter of time, mate, and you will be huge on UA-cam and you deserve every bit of it
Or in prison for slagging off poor Sony! 😝
This is LEG..... whait for it........ GENDARY ! Awsome work mate ! The happiness on your face is the best part of this film !
How this video doesn't have a million views, it is beyond me. This is ground breaking.
Thanks! Delighted you got it sorted. Also great to see you say thanks when a company does the right thing. Hopefully, it will influence other companies to do the right thing. Credit where credit is due.
Thanks for the tip buddy, much appreciated! Yeah definitely make it known when a company does something right, it might influence them to do it again
Excellent, the major defect of the console was fixed. With this method, more will be found in the future to repair and upgrade console
You forgot to mention reason #3 for changing the ssd controller m8. TO try out the new stencils! GJ m8
Ah yep haha, that's true 🤣
My PS5 is saved because of you my guy. Love you dude

Maybe the os can be run at a memory expansion
What a relief i know soon when the ps5 internal dies there’s a good technician like you bro keep up the good work

Well done mate!!!! Wow!! That is ducking fantastic!!!
Lol thanks buddy
Sony watching this video
“We fucked up again these are meant to be paired”
New console revision comes out that pairs the controller to the ssd.
Why would Sony think that lol. They've Never locked them to the motherboard there's no reason to do it. No Idea why Microsoft has always did it
Wow! You made me a believer mate. Good job sticking through all the frustration. That board was wicked.
You sir have a fan for life.

yay enjoyed this, can you explain each step of reballing, please more the cleaning process before the reball
I keep forgetting not everyone has seen my past videos lol. I'll try and explain better in the next video
It is R&D what you're doing, your research is developing knowledge for other technicians.
Congrats man!
The Chip you were pointing to at 31:47 and have not tried to replace should be easily replaceable.

you remind me of a younger version of myself with one exception...you can actually fix things
Congratulations on another discovery. 🎉
Man you have some serious skills, I wish I knew half as much as you do
Getting good phil 👌 👍 🙌 👏
The Philanderer of Flux, The Pastor of Paste, The Viking of the Volt Meter, The HighKing of HotAir
Holy crap, does that mean that the PS5 constantly recording gameplay for sharing is speeding up its death?
Well done!
Leading the way!
congrats!
Thanks so much dude
Mate you are Huge...great work
You made history right there mate
Stellar job, Phil ... Many thanks for sharing the footage ... Let's just hope Sony doesn't "buckle-up" on this & lock the SSD chips on any future updates ... Cheers & all the best for 2023
Great videos bro keep up the great work allway look forward your upload

So to keep your ps5 ssd living for longer run your games off the m.2 ssd instead.
You actual legend, well done mate! Not that I'd probably ever get to do this, but couple of questions.

@@TheCod3r legend, thanks!
Awesome job mate as usual !!!
I believe we'll soon be able to read the syscon, so that would be super handy!
AMAZING WORK!!!!!!!
but if the internal SSD goes bad you can not have PS5 game save data on the M.2 SSD
Just saw this your the man!
Lol, you need to eat. Heard your belly growl at 29:18 🤣🤣
I have no idea why I find your videos so interesting....come across the ps5 one that u recorded on Xmas day n been down a bit of a rabbit hole....I know very little about this kind of stuff but would love to have your knowledge and skill
Frankenstein ssd😀
Nice good job👍👍👍
Nice onwards and upwards
Just WOW. Unbelievable, this is insane on the PS5 front of things. What increible skill you have. Hats off
Nice One!! You showed de them…
I love your videos man 😂 keep up the work you're the best bro
That is superb Phil, well done mate. You just saved loads PS5's from becoming donor boards and people shitloads of money.
That’s amazing!!!
Nice one, did drop a donation, as can’t seem to be a member on ytube
Thank you bud, that's very much appreciated 👍
Great job, Phil!

Thanks bud
@@TheCod3r honestly now I’m happy!!! Well done !!!
just a quick one so the control ic doesn't need to be replaced if you can just change the ssd ic
PS5 Games save data is being overwritten often even many times a day will that and gamepatches kill the internal SSD at an extreme fast rate?
btw. those aliexpress links to the eq in desc are mostly expired
You are incredibly lucky and must have replaced the faulty ssd chip first by chance.
This is great news well done on the swap mate and to confirm it works. Can you now confirm if u swap all 6 SSD IC's with known good ones will it still work?
They could easily make the primary on a slide in/out tray. THAT would be the right move.
That was a great video Phil to see it boot into life nice work m8
There's going to be a meeting at Sony tomorrow!
"Why tf are the SSD's replaceable?"
I hope they leave it that way.
Not a console fan, but great job man! Awsome find!
Did you check to see if the storage was the correct size?
You can actually replace soldered ssd on MacBook. There are plenty of video that you can watch if you are interested in doing it.
Just joined the channel, mate. Hope it helps. Where do you get the soldier balls and stencils for chips? Also, what flux do you use? And what is the paste you spread out before you reball? Also, how do you know what ball size to use on chips?
Hi!!
Same error. SU-101242-0
Is it about bad SSD?
Replacing donor SSD chips will help me?
If only you could upgrade the capacity internally this way as well (at least they give an m.2 slot this time)
So could you replace with larger ssd chip
Hi buddy! I have a PS5 with that SSD controller problem. According to the technician who did the diagnosis, he told me that it had a short circuit. If sony can make it not work, they will
@12345 6789101112 Knowing Sony, they'll find a way of making it not to work aswel
What if in the future they will allow to put the OS on the m2 that will solve the dying problem of the internal ssd
Well Done Phil !!! I wonder if it's a regional difference, were the last 2 boards UK ?
