Like the first thing he does is he FREES those he captured in his dungeon, gives them back the land he stole, etc. Even when peach and her alliance shows up he's welcoming instead of threatening. Even apologizes, asking to just talk. No fighting, no tricks. Being all "I want to be worthy of you peach, so please help me change for the better. If even after all that you still won't marry me, then I will just have to learn to accept that."
