The first time I heard this song, Simon commented on it...He was looking for some "Crazy Drummers." He sure found them. My favorite song by him...Second place is...It Was Late In The Eviening.
@youvebeenthunderstru The Rhythm Of The Saints album was published by Worner Music Group who don't like people posting there songs on UA-cam at all, that's why you won't find the original version on UA-cam, I was somewhat surprised to find this and other live versions of this song.
I'm not sure where/how I got these videos, but it(Tokyo Dome Show) was aired to public in Japan, other "Osaka" show also aired through radio. I have no idea for audience size, but officially Tokyo Dome can seat more than 50,000. And it might be sold out concert.
I'm a Paul Simon devotee, and I think his album Rhythm of the Saints is his most perfect. Great video too!
What an ARTIST......Not to many like him around
my son was called sonnie due to the love of this song .x
what a tune, my wife is due any day now we dont know if its a boy or a girl, if its a boy we are going to name him sonny!!!!!!!
One of his greatest songs...and that says a lot.
Me and my mum are brasilian but i grew up in England during the late 80s and she used to play this all the time... ah memories x
Been revisiting this song lately. I'd forgotten how much I love it. And seeing Simon open his show with it in 1991 was amazing.
I have loved this song for years even though I never had a clue as to what it was really about.

this is my favorite paul simon song and that's saying a lot! his music is an absolute pleasure to listen to.
