I bought two of these a while back and really had to justify upgrading before making the making the jump to an Osmo Action. If you don’t need the GPS for the telematics overlays in the app and just want good video, these little cams are awesome. Audio out of the camera in a non-windy environment is pretty good, waterproof with no housing, 4K video...and pretty decent stabilization. I’m heading down to Stelvio Pass this weekend with both of my Session 5s and my new Osmo Action and hoping to get some killer footage.
@@TheEverydayDad I use it a lot for mountain-biking where my Hero 7 Black is on a chest mount and the Session is either attached to the seat post facing backwards or forward along the top tube or attached to the downtube facing the suspension or the crank. It's an amazing little camera and virtually indestructible having dropped it many times and it's virtually spotless. It even fell from my kitesurfing kite on dry land and not a scratch on it. The Hero 7 has better stabilisation but this Session (and it's Session 4 sibling) will be around for a long time....
I just got one 3 months ago for use in the construction classes I teach. More discreet that my HB6. Small enough to blend in and not distract my students from climbing. Still has great quality. I pulled the trigger on a refurbished one for just over $100. Frankly better than the Chinese clones available at that price. Cube design lends itself to more intriguing mount locations, like frisbees.

Superview, Linear, and narrow available. 4K. Stabilisation. Shoots 120fps. It is a very underrated camera. There is even a refurbishment industry for the Session that has grown in China so they can still be bought as new for less than half the price of a current Black model. I have two of them, and I would buy another. There is a need for this cube form factor.

I don’t know that I’d say that, the hero 5 black is fine but I used to have some real problems trying to use it. I think their software is much more stable now.
The best GoPro so far, had mine 2 years and it’s awesome, my son ( 10 ) uses it all the time and it is bulletproof . I use it more than my hero 7 because it’s so small.

I really like the concept for exactly the reason you gave: it’s less noticeable to others! If they could bring this back for much cheaper, say, $150, that would be fantastic. But I would also want to see better battery life since you can’t swap it out.
I'm glad you are going back to the older Hero5 Session. I have a H5B and H7B, but the tiny H5Session can go places even it's big brothers can't go. The big drawback seems to be the price this 3 year old tech still ccoomands.

The audio on the 5 is poor but it has stabilisation. The 4 has the best audio of any GoPro. My Hero 4 will go in my coffin with me because they won’t be able to prise it out of my cold dead hands :) it would be my first choice out of 4 and 5. The 7 is the first GoPro that is tempting to me after the 4, but the 4 never dies so I have no excuse to upgrade.
Yikes! The Hero Session 5 is $299 at B&H yet the Hero 7 Black is only $329!!! The Hero 5 Session looks decent -- the stabilization is nothing to write home about, but for only $30 more I could get a Hero 7 Black? Why consider the Session 5?
Aengus MacNaughton The Session 5 is available as refurbished “as new” from China for half that price, but both my Session 5’s were bought pre-owned and work great. Highly recommended for small spaces and B roll.
weird gopro didn't make another session :| so many people want it ... stabilization is not problem at all even for hero 5 session it's reelsteady :D looks amazing :D

Waw, "Hero 4 black" and this "Hero 5 Session" provides fantastic 1080p quality, where you do not need 2.7k or 4k. "Hero 7" and "hero 8 black" in "1080p" is absoluterly terrible and useles so you must switch to 2.7k or 4k.
We need more companies to make these extra small cube or circle type cams. The regular gopros and competitors are too big for me but the GoPro Sessions are perfect. The problem is, the Sessions' quality looks like absolute ass (I have a Session 5). Look how terrible the GoPro looks in this video compared to his regular camera and it looks ever worse if there's any black in the picture as it will be full of visual noise & artifacts. Unless the GoPro is filming in bright outdoor daylight, it usually looks like absolute ass.

I mount a hero 5 session on my a6300 hot shoe. When I’m taking pictures of my kids playing baseball I have the session video recording. Works great!

The session 4 is my main camara for all my videos works great. Just the other day picked up an GoPro 7
That is same GoPro that I use. It has a small over heating problem if you don’t use it in a few months.

Still my favorite camera. I shoot in linear. Use a Nikon 5100 and my iPhone. Mix’s pretty good together.

O wiz Yes, the Hero 5 Session supports up to 128 but no bigger.
