Me too, they were total entertainers, wrestling had very little to do with it. Kent Walton's commentary was a perfect backdrop. I always remember Les being knocked from pillar to post until he leant on the ropes hardly standing, then..... he shook his head, found new energy and trounced his opponent......every week. Me and my brothers used to sit glued to see how long he would go before the miracle. I also remember we always wanted Mick McManus to lose, but he never did. Loved it, you bought back many memories Paul. (Sorry Paul, i posted this before watching the whole video).
You hit exactly what Les was about - a wonderful entertainer - we both spent too long watching, being entertained by him, on a Saturday afternoon. From your aerial shots, he rests for ever in a wonderful spot. Also great to learn that he reached a respectable age before departing this world. I can only hope that he enjoyed life to at least near the end. RIP Les.
I remember watching Les Keller, Mick McManus and others with my Nan she used to get so worked up watching them Les Keller and Jackie Pallo were two of her favourite’s.
Thank you so much. I have been trying to find out where Les was laid to rest for a long time to no avail and stumbled on your video by chance. I will definitely visit as soon as I can. I knew Les very well but sadly lost touch with him over the years 😢
hi paul please let me say you spoke of Les Kellett with grace and fondness like yourself i grew up watching Les and i to had a great childhood watching Les Kellett i sat here with a tear in my heart i have just moved from london to west yorkshire and watching you here now made me think how lucky i was to have seen Les on the television or as i say the good old days R.I.P Les Kellett thank you Paul
Thank you Paul for this video I watched Les Kellet on a Saturday afternoon along with so many famous wrestlers now sadly gone It brought back a lot of memories
My father Dazzler Joe Cornelius was a great friend of Les he was a great man. His son Chris lived at my dads pub for a while in London we spent some time together m out and about in london nightlife. I still watch les on youtube he was a pro
Paul, in real life Les was a real hard man. He could and did, turn and start lashing out the punishment for real. Many old time wrestlers said he was unpredictable and his screen persona made him harder to read in the ring. As the plans for the bout at times went out the window. What a guy.
Thank you Paul. Your videos are in my opinion are the best ..always informative and considerate to those you are searching for...... Look forward to the next.
In a way a little sad having no marker, I also grew up with Less kellett watching him on Saturday afternoon with Kent Walton commentating. Once again a little sad but the passing of people is sad.
Hey Paul wow great up load this i use too watch the wrestling back in the day and les was a great great wrestler very hard man tough too beat too ..... Any chance you could flim brain Glover grave actor and wrestler back in the day please thanku I was a big fan of him cheers Paul 😊😊
Brilliant Paul, quickly on back of the Pat Roach content too. I think Les also did some TV acting. I saw Les a number of times at the Liverpool Stadium in Bixteth Street in the 70s, did you ever go back in your school days? My favourite contest there was always kendo Nagasaki versus a masked Count Bartelli. As a 12 year old I was I was pretty terrified!
I've just watched Les Kellett v Leon Arris here on UA-cam, For those who don't know who Leon Arris is, I'll let you find out for yourselves. Right time for a cup of TEA
I know a wrestler who actually states he was not that well liked in the business, I personally thought he was good but behind the scenes a different person I am told.
I did look for details on Big Daddy's final resting place, but aside from being mentioned on find a grave that he's at lister lane cemetery in halifax, theres nothing else to back it up. If he is there, his grave is likely unmarked.
