SteamWorld Build Review - The Final Verdict

- Image and Form Games' SteamWorld series is best known for its sci-fi settings with lovable robots and for branching out into different genres. Its latest title, SteamWorld Build, is developed by The Station and delves into city-building with a dash of Dungeon Keeper.
It's a unique yet robust strategy experiment, as players expand their towns, cater to the needs of its citizens and delve further into the mines to search for Old Tech. Despite switching between multiple screens, the experience is paced well, with charming characters and excellent presentation.
Some things could be better, like item pricing and the lack of hotkeys for quickly accessing certain functions. However, SteamWorld Build is still a compelling experience, mixing familiar genres for a fun gameplay loop while retaining the series' quirky atmosphere.
can i just say how much I love this series :> So creative, though quest I think is one of my favorites :>
I've heard that the GOG release has a eula that excuses the use of DRM and spyware. Though that may only be an issue with the GOG release, as I'm not sure about other versions of this game. Could be a PC issue, but I would still be cautious going into this game.
Been looking forward to this but forgot about it amidst all the releases this year, the other games were great, couldnt finish the turn based one's final boss as it was too difficult lol
Gotta wait until Friday to play the game. I have it downloaded and ready to go.
Yeah me to
Nice to see you release your review at the same time as us! I'm in the same boat - Dig 2 is more my speed, but even though Build takes some time to get into, once you start it's hard to pull yourself away from it!
Cant wait for steamworld Football Manager
Not gonna lie, I would play the hell out of that.
Good chill game
nice game preorder :)
I tried the demo. It's fine I guess. The "level up your idiots" is pretty familiar from some other base builders. The mine part is okay, breaks up the above world core. I can't really recommend it though, it just seems to lack something. 5/10.
I played the GamePass version and I agree. It's missing fun factor for me. If you want a very chill building game in steamworld.....then there isn't anything wrong with it.
Dungeons 4 is my go to right now
Its a good game but tge engineers are soo goddamn needy like everytime i level up they want 3 more goddamn buildings that i have to place every 5 tiles because somehow one in a tiny ass town is enough
It's rare to see SimCity styled games these days
What? There are loads and loads coming out literally every week.
No... Anno and Tropico are just like this.

I was just gonna say that. There are so many that I can’t even keep up with them.
So it is only 3 kinds of workers in the overworld and not 4 like it was teased in some screenshots? A bit of a shame but if you have to do cutbacks to finish your product it can't be helped.
There are 4.
Worker, Engineer, Aristibot, Scientist.
Yeah each one is revealed as you reach higher milestones
There are 4 found it by mistake in the main game settings right under save and load options.
1st
ANOTHER BORING CITY BUILDER FOR NERDS.
BRING US STEAMWORLD HEIST 2 OR FRIG OFF
Welcome to the world of tomorrow.
SteamWorld Dig 1 and 2 are really NICE 2D platformer digging games DEFIENITILY I like SteamWorld 1 and I have BOTH on NINTENEO 3DS. It's so AWESOME SteamWorld got it's own City building game SteamWorld build and this gameplay looks surprisilly FUN but which is BEST platform for this, i'm more EXCITED and INTERESTED of buying and trying playing SteamWorld Built on Nintendo Switch as Switch Gamer but I believe this is better on Pc because this looks more Pc game than console game so i'm gonna buying and playing this SteamWorld Build on Pc. I remember a school quest when our class have to planning your own imagined city and playing this game I can make dreams of my own harbour and space city come true. 🌎🌍🌏🌇🌁🏞🏜🛤🚂🏗🗼🏯⛩️🏘🛖🏫🛕🕌⛪️🏥🏦🏪🏭🌊🚢⛲️🏛🏰🏟🚀
