Absolutely amazing. I have never watched a tutorial video that covers absolutely everything the way these do. I would definitely be lost without these a bit.
Thank you Rodney! Your game play solidified my pre-order. It looks super fun and more simple than the original Gloomhaven. Fun Fact: My first Watch it Played video was DnD Board game Wrath of Ashardalon and had to buy my first dungeon crawler/adventure board game. Greatly appreciate your videos!
seriously these videos are amazing to learn this game as you go, i am doing a solo run first and unless i have missed something there's just a few little minor things the book skips to explain, and you are easily filling in the gaps
I tried Scenario 1 today, using your fantastic tutorial, and I thought, "Okay, this is fun, but I don't think I'll keep the game." Now that I've seen this video, I may hold onto it, after all. You're the best!
These initial scenarios are definitely lighter to get you comfortable with the rules. I think you'll find the fullness of the game comes out more as you get further in.
Your videos for this tutorial series are exceptional Rodney, thank you so much!! Jaws of the Lion is breaking us into Gloomhaven and we are having a great time so far through the first 2 scenarios. Just watched your instructions for #3 and can't wait to play that, and maybe #4 today. Thank you again for your fantastic work and channel. Cheers!!
Yo I played senario 1 last night as a solo game through. It's was so much fun. I did get a bit overwhelmed with the set-up, but it was because it was my first time. Can't wait to play senario 2 tonight!!!!
Rodney! I need your 3rd video! I read the rules and it was pretty straightforward but I want to know 100% I understand after watching your video! Get on it!
Amazing video series (thank you 🙏🙏🙏), amazing game 😍👍 I have now played the first two scenarios with my husband and 9 year old son and we love it so far ❤️❤️❤️ My son is mostly into video games so I’m extra delighted 🥰 Thanks to video games he is pretty good at English (we’re Swedish) and the fun of looting, upgrading and shopping for items, so that helps 😅🥰
No rulebook can be as good as having the rules explained by Rodney Smith! I often have to explain games in my group as well, and immitating Rodney's style has helped me a lot.
Random other thought after its all over are you going to follow-up with a gloomhaven transitioning video to the main board game? Didn't see any original gloomhaven content. I could be blind too.
Great video as always Rodney! Something to note, in the description of this video, it says that in this video we'll be learning the first scenario, but this video is for the second scenario. Just a heads up! Love your work! You are an amazing asset to the hobby!
Rules question: I don’t understand your explanation regarding the Area Effects (7min mark). More specifically, why the one enemy is not affected by the targeted area because there is no line of sight to that enemy due to the wall. It seems to me the same could be said about all three enemies . There is no line of sight to any of the three enemies as they are all behind a wall. I just can’t figure out why you only apply the line of sight rule to only one enemy and not the others. I would be inclined to say none of the enemies could be targeted by the Area Effect card as none are in line of sight of Hatchet. Thank you
at 6:45 make sure to notice that the door has been opened. so you treat that hex as if there was no wall there. which means the rightmost edge of hatchet's hex can draw a line to those two vermlings's hexes, but not the third one because the non-door wall is still in the way. does that help?
The right corner of the Hatchet's hex can have a line drawn straight to the right corner of the two Vermlings he mentions he can see, without crossing/touching a wall. The "wall line", for lack of a better phrase, is only the bottom line (i.e. bottom-left corner to bottom-right corner) of the Hatchet's hex, which doesn't extend to the right corner of his hex. Does that help?
This seems like the most anti-themetical rules I’ve seen in this game. I can see requiring line of sight and range to throw the “grenade” or other explosion, but to require each hex in the explosion/area of effect to also be in LOS just doesn’t make sense. If I throw a grenade around a corner it’s gonna hurt whoever is there if they are in the area of effect even if I can’t see them. Weird rule.
Question about line of sight: from my understanding so far is that if you can make a straight line between anywhere on your hex to anywhere on the enemies hex it is a success. But at 7:10 you mention an example that makes me question my thought process. Can anyone help?
There is a double line directly in front of the attacking characters, so it cannot see through that. However, beside that is an open door, and it allows me to draw a line from where I point with my finger, to the edges of the hexes I'm saying I can see.
I just failed this scenario, partially because the enemies literally never moved. I had to hunt each one down because I managed to draw the "screaming shot" every single round through sheer bad luck. I ran out of cards :(
Love the videos, I’m playing single player and these are must watch...question, so you need to reveal the second room to compete the scenario? Or can you just beat the monsters in the top room?
Thank you RS for your amazing videos. 😀 I'm playing this scenario now and I have a couple of questions if I may: 1/ Does an attacking hero still have disadvantage if its target isn't adjacent to it but another enemy is? 🏹 2/ If the player(s) get to keep their gold after a failed attempt and can just try again, wouldn't that make getting gold too easy? Just focus on looting, fail, try again, rinse and repeat? 💰
1) Nope, just if the target is adjacent (you'll find this covered in the first video). 2) That's not really a rules question, and more of a design question, so can't really help there.
For range attacks do you target enemies at maximum range like if u have range of 2 do you have target stuff that are always 2 hexes away or is it up to 2 hexes ?
Quick Questions to "The Big One"@6:23 It says in the rulebook: The character can perfom a ranged Attack 3 on all enemies in the cluster of seven hexes, so long as at least one of the depicted hexes is withing range 2. Does this mean I have to have line-of-sight with one enemy, or just one hex and and I can attack an empty hex. And even if I can just hit one with range 2, I can hit everyone else who is in said cluster even if they would be at range 4
Question regarding the range attack: Let’s say the range attacking Vermling is more or less surrounded by the heroes and they are all adjacent to the vermling. The Vermling can move 1 space to move away from all the heroes to get rid of the disadvantage. However, that one hero the vermling would still be stood adjacent to happens to have the lowest initiative of all the heroes. Does the Vermling still attack with the disadvantage, or does it choose to attack one of the other hero’s without the disadvantage?
There are enough combinations of movement/focus/advantage, that I can't really say with absolute certainty what the game intends, but in this case, I would rule that the monster attacks the target that does not cause it disadvantage (because if moving does not cause it to lose disadvantage, then it will not move in the first place).
Two part comment: Wife: I have no idea what youre talking about half the time (for gloomhaven only). My husband will teach me after he learns from you. However, thanks so much for distracting our 9 month old while we feed her. Works wonders! Me: you're my go to guy to learn about games! Thanks for doing all the work you do and we hope you keep it up! Fyi, we both love you, even if this game is too complicated for my wife to follow. 😆
@@WatchItPlayed short update. After wife has played 3 scenarios and hearing your video multiple times to feed the baby, she is now hooked. She asked me to thank you again for your phenomenal work! Thanks!
Hi Benjamin, I shot this videos series long enough ago that I don't recall all the rules, but any options you have would be detailed in this video series.
This game seems like a video game converted to board/card game. There is a lot into this game. And I just got my copy. Hoping 4 characters isn’t too much for a GH Noob like me
@@WatchItPlayed I am enjoying the game very much. The times I play all 4 at once are definitely “mentally taxing”. There’s a lot to keep track of, but it’s worth it.
Wait was push and pull changed? I thought in normal Gloomhaven you had to always use the full value of a push or pull for a character unless you couldn’t.
I don't know if it's changed, or if maybe you misunderstood the original rules (I never played the original, so I can't say), but this is how it works here.
Yep - in the original both monsters and characters had to push/pull the full amount if possible (or not use the push/pull at all). In JOTL the monsters still have to push/pull the full amount if possible, but the characters can choose to only push/pull some of the distance
Jaws of the Lion has fewer mechanics and a number of simplified rules. The maps also tend to be smaller. A lot of complexity in Gloomhaven has to do with specific card text and sometimes how it interacts with text from other cards.
Firstly, big thank you for the videos you produce! You are a great teacher and it shows you are having fun! Another area effect question: Demolitionist uses « The Big One » cluster attack which targets an area of 7 hexes. I understand that one hex needs to be within Range 2, but is the Demolitionist allowed to be inside that red area if she chooses the furthest hex from her to respect the Range 2 rule? Thanks again!
I do by best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website (but my first thought is "yes, that would be legal"). I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
Hey Rodney, amazing work as always. I’ve already played through four scenarios and watched the videos several times. Quick question: if you reveal a room and the type of enemy revealed has already had their turn in the initiative order (meaning there are others like it alive in a previous room) do they activate after the revealing character’s turn?
Hey Charles, I'm always happy to help with questions, but if the answer is in the video, than I have to direct you there. If you check the description of the video, I've added a direct link to this section in the index: Monster Activation After A Room is Revealed.
Watch It Played I’m sorry but in the video it seemed like you only went over the case when an enemy card needed to be flipped. I’m wondering when it was already flipped. Perhaps this was implied, but I wondered if some enemies from the previous room already had their turn, do the new ones still get to go. Seems like the answer is probably yes.
@@charlestaft6128 If you have flipped a monster ability card of that monster type during that turn then you won't flip a new one upon entering the room. Then, the new monsters will act right after you finish your moves for the current character.
I've been hearing it's tough to find right now - must have sold well. The exclusive to Target is only a month, and then hopefully it will be available in more locations.
So I saw that you answered how you had LOS at ~7:15 - I had to come to the comments to understand that, thanks! Quick follow-up: Since the closest enemy is in an adjacent hex, your comments directly following would indicate that you should get disadvantage on your attack on him. BUT, in this case, your LOS technically must go through another hex to get to him, so could you say that for the purpose of that attack he is not adjacent, or does the LOS not really factor in?
Great videos! Two questions though 1. Basic actions, can you use both cards to move 2 hexes each and thus ignoring the one top and one bottom rule for abilities? 2. When looting, do they mean your whole turn? Or can you move two with one card and end that "card turn" to pick up the money and then move with your other card as a basic action? Watched your video and read "learn to play guide" and also checked "glossary" but couldent find the right answer.
1) Yes! 2) This just means that the looting happens at the end of your turn. Once your characters turn is over, if the space you are in contains loot, you automatically get it. The rules says it this way (Page 15 Learn to Play Guide): "at the end of each character’s turn, that character automatically loots their current hex."
Great tutorial, thanks. I do have 2 questions though, I can’t find specific references to. One, when using just the basic attack ( the little corner number), I’m assuming you have to be adjacent to the enemy because there is no range given, and two, if you run out of monster ability cards, just shuffle them and start that stack over as necessary?
1) Correct! 2) There is a shuffle icon on the bottom right of certain cards in the attack modifier decks and monster ability card decks. If a card with a shuffle icon is revealed during a round, that deck’s discard pile should be shuffled back into its deck at the end of the round (you'll find this explained in this video series, but I shot this long enough ago I don't remember exactly where).
Since you’re now reading my mind by doing this gloomhaven video, I guess next month you will do a video for Mage Knight and in October, you will release a Twilight Imperium video just in time for my birthday party where I am going to trap my friends in my house for a Saturday and teach them the game.
That seems a bit cruel to trap people into a game of Twilight Imperium, on the other hand I wish I was going to your birthday party, because I would enjoy a round of Twilight Imperium.
Ryan Vaughan, I’m also going to make everyone dress up as their race, so you might be right about cruelty. At least, I will be providing a full fridge of premium adult beverages.
Could you explain 7:23 again? You couldn't just shift the damage area to be a upper corner hex and damage that one Raider who is currently unreachable? In other words, do you HAVE to have line of sight for all your targets when using that card?
Thanks Rodney! So late commenting on this video- not sure you’ll actually see it. When purchasing weapons can players purchase the same card/item? Or must there be a card available for each player? If so, do players just agree amongst themselves who gets to purchase the item if multiple players want it?
Yeah, you're limited to what's available, and if more than one person wants it, decide among yourselves (and if you can't, maybe flip a coin or roll a die).
amazing videos, keep going back to them before each game. Just a quick one. Where does it say how the monsters modifier decks are built? We played the first scenario with the whole pile of modifiers because I couldnt find it lol.
@@WatchItPlayed yes, the video says for the first encounter the decks are the same as the player`s, but it doesnt say where this information is available nor if it`s the same for each monster, unless I missed? rewatching just in case.
Two hexes are adjacent to each other if they share a border. Two figures in adjacent hexes are considered adjacent to one another. Two hexes separated by a wall line are not considered adjacent.
You showed a monster on top of a Money token. That monster MOVED on top of that existing coin right? You didn't loot HIS money that shows up only after dieing?
Hi Rodney! Great guides, thanks a lot for those! Two question before we go further to scenario two over here. 1. Can I choose to use just one cards action and therefore spare cards that else should have been discarde? Or MUST I do both cards actions on my turn? 2. When I have the action that says move 3 (or whatever), do I need to move all those steps or can I choose to only go 1, 2 OR 3 steps?
Thank You Sir! Not only am I impressed about the fast responce! After all, its a vid that have been up here for 6 month. I am also very greatful, I will stay tuned to this channle for a long time! Thanks Lord Rodney! ;-) Well just one more clarification then, at 5:37 You talking about a third option as I understand it? First I can do the action and the card is lost (due to the symbol) or I can do the basic move (since we here talking about the bottom half) and then I have the card in discard pile. But then You say at 5:37 that we can just skip that action? What about the card then? Is it still on hand and not in any pile (discharge or lost)? Those that means I can skip all the action for that card and the card is not a in the discard pile that I should shuffle and pick one for the lost pile? This was why I wonder about the 1 question above?
Thanks Rodney! I’m still a little unclear about losing cards. If the ‘X’ is on the bottom half of the card but you use the top half action, do you still lose it for the rest of the scenario ?
Hey Marko, it's a bit tough to do card specific questions as I don't necessarily remember them all. Do you have a link to a spot in the video where you can see one you'd like to ask about?
Thanks for the video, at 11:50, regarding the monster move when it has range attack while adjacent to the target, what if the hex has a trap already and the only way to avoid disadvantage of range attack is to step on/pass the trap, will the monster still move?
Hey George, very good question! I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but for specific targeting and movement of monsters in particular cases I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
How about for accessories items? like power potion, how many of such categories could we hold and how many of the the different potion could we carry on each scenario?
Do you have a time stamp to the section of the video you are asking about (I created this long enough ago, I don't remember which part you might be asking about).
@13:07, it was mentioned that there are two separate rooms and that you don't activate monster cards if there are no monsters in a room. Theoretically speaking, if we went inside the 2nd room while there are still monsters in the 1st room, does it mean that we won't activate a monster card for the monsters in the 1st room? And if there is only 1 monster type, does that mean that monsters in other rooms won't take their actions, even if all rooms have already been revealed?
As long the door is closed mosnters cant move through it so the locked room remains without monsters. Once door is open all mosnters are revealed and they all activate and can move throught the open door.
I do try my best to cover all the main rules of a game, but I avoid individual card effects as that would get into a level of detail that would be impossible for me to maintain across all the games I feature.
thanks for the amazing video! just a quick question, going further into the scenario, do the items available in the item shop increases since it only allows 01-13 for now? If it does, how does it increases?
Hi Jessica, I'm not quite sure what you mean by if they increase? You mean, does the number of cards in the item deck change? I haven't played the entire campaign to know exactly what's in all the hidden boxes, so I can't say for sure.
Yep. Hatchet is just being used as reference to explain the card's effect (rather than stop and introduce a new character onto the board for the sake of explaining that particular card effect).
Quick question on negating damage: if you have no cards in the discard pile and you are yet to act, meaning your two action cards are still on the table, are the cards that you have yet to choose from for the next rounds "in your hand"? Or is your hand effectively empty and thus you cannot lose one to stop incoming damage?
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
So monster do everything on there card and it dose all the actions on the card from top to bottom? Not like players where we can only do a top or bottom action?
1) If all monsters are defeated in first room, and door has not been unlocked yet, does card reveal and play/discard still happen, or do you just advance all players to door and then start the rounds after door is opened? 2) If door is opened before all monsters in first room are killed, what do you do if there are not enough standees/figures to reveal the rest of the monsters?
Where does it actually say to add the first two #1 cards to your deck after the second scenario? I can’t seem to find where it’s written ... and what if a still-unused ability deck happens to get mixed up? Maybe use the 3 digit number at the bottom and reference a chart on bgg, perhaps? I think of these tragedies because kids lol.
It talks about the #1 cards at the end of the previous scenario (in the small print at the end, if I remember correctly). And yes, if the cards get mixed up, just put them back in order based on the small numbers in the corner. But also, in that small print section, I think it reminds you of the names of the 2 cards in case you did mix them up.
in 10:58 , Screaming Shot of enemy, do they have to perform push and then follow up by range atk, what if they can not push anyone? do they perform range atk if able?
Why do the coins respawn upon losing the scenario if we get to keep what we looted? Unless i misunderstood, it sounded like he said everything respawns cept looted chests (most notably, coins come back) and since you keep your coins you got prior, then is this not a loop in which players can farm coins? what am i missing here?
Can I push/pull a monster to an adjacent hex? For example, I am next to a trap and monster, and the monster is also next to the same trap, can I move it laterally into that trap? It's not moving the monster hexes closer and farther away from myself, but keeping the same distance between us. Thanks!
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
Here's a question for ya'... what if somebody wants to join in on scenario 3... or twenty... after a couple characters have upgraded to superpowered stats, does the new character just jump in with the stats of the first scenario and always stay that much behind? Anyway to fast-track their leveling up? Or does the game even allow that to happen at all?
Hello, one more question: assume the second room is not revealed yet, the Raiders have an initiative of 40, Hatchet has 60. First Raiders in room 1 move, then there is a Hatchet's turn and... he reveals the room 2. We do not flip the monster ability card (as there is already one active, in room 1 we have some alive Raiders), and what do the Raiders in room 2 do? The initiative tokens show they already made their move, as Raiders in room 1 did, but Raiders in room 2 should also move in the same turn as they were revealed. Should we move the initiative token of Raiders below Hatchet's and then move only the Raiders in room 2?
I'll be honest with you, I'm finding this question confusing. Sometimes, complicated situations are hard to get across in text, and would be easier to explain with the board in front. Perhaps watch that section of the video again and see if it helps clarify for you?
@@SzyFuj I was about to ask this question as well, do you still have the link to the BGG forum post? (For me, Vermlings already took their turn, then we opened the door to reveal new ones, do the new ones get another turn or just act next round?)
I’m having issues grasping the monster movement. So in your example- the monster has 1 move and there’s a trap in between the monster and hatchet. However, 1 move would put the monster adjacent. Does the monster move onto the trap to attack? I know the monster changes its focus to the other character much further away. Does the monster move 1 space towards the focus character? Or does the monster ONLY move when they will be adjacent to a character (like in scenario 1)? Does the monster not move at all because the trap is there?
Hey Heather, I'm not quite sure which example you are referring to (I give a lot of examples in the video, sometimes times tamps are best). That said, let me try to summarize some of the rules from the manual, with some extra notes from me, to see if it helps with your questions: At the start of any monster’s turn, regardless of what the monster is doing, the monster will find a focus. The monster’s focus will be the enemy it can get in range to attack using the least amount of movement. If multiple enemies can be reached in the same amount of movement, the monster focuses on the tied enemy earliest in the initiative order. Finding a focus is not dependent on line‑of‑sight or whether the monster can actually get in range to attack an enemy "this" turn. That's important, you don't HAVE to get in range of the attack, but it will "try". If a monster is performing a ranged attack, it will consider this range when determining where it can attack from. Otherwise, even if it is not performing an attack at all, it will focus on the enemy it can get adjacent to in the least amount of movement. When determining what is the least amount of movement, the monster will find a path that goes through the fewest number of traps possible, even if that lengthens the path considerably. Monsters also factor in the extra cost of entering difficult terrain when finding their path. Only if there are NO possible paths (given infinite movement) to get within range of its focus, will it not move. Does that help?
I'd almost suggest instead of making the enemies easier by rotating the card, you just remove the x2 from the enemy modifier deck and the cancel attack card from the player modifier deck. If you can't win then, you probably shouldn't have bought the game as it isn't for you (hey, that happens to nearly everyone) as consistently drawing those should be the only way you could lose an introductory scenario.
@@WatchItPlayed By 4 though, you're playing nearly the full game which is easily loseable with some bad luck. I can't wait until they finally release the game on PC (and no, EA without the campaign isn't a release).
The redusing the level of enemies is official way if making the game easier. It Also reduces your revard, so you will get less gold and Less XP... at least in normal Gloomahaven. Not sure if that is Also in Jaws...
Thanks!

Ha! It feels like it :)
Great videos for this game. Pre-ordered my copy (here in UK). Love the idea of playing on the pages of the book, just like Stuffed Fables. 😀
It really simplifies setup!
Great video as always Rodney! Something to note, in the description of this video, it says that in this video we'll be learning the first scenario, but this video is for the second scenario. Just a heads up! Love your work! You are an amazing asset to the hobby!
Ah - thank you! Fixed :)
Can't wait for the next scenario's.
Working on them soon!
Thanks

Tricky hexes! I see it now. Thank you.
Weird rule.
Is it too soon to induct Rodney into the Board Gaming hall of fame 😁 thanks so much mate.
Very glad it was helpful :)
I ran out of cards :(
Good luck on your next attempt!
Love the videos, I’m playing single player and these are must watch...question, so you need to reveal the second room to compete the scenario? Or can you just beat the monsters in the top room?
You need to clean the bottom of enemies too (even though you can't see them until the door is open, they are still there :) ).
Thank you
You're very welcome!
Thank you RS for your amazing videos. 😀 I'm playing this scenario now and I have a couple of questions if I may:
1/ Does an attacking hero still have disadvantage if its target isn't adjacent to it but another enemy is? 🏹
2/ If the player(s) get to keep their gold after a failed attempt and can just try again, wouldn't that make getting gold too easy? Just focus on looting, fail, try again, rinse and repeat? 💰
1) Nope, just if the target is adjacent (you'll find this covered in the first video).
2) That's not really a rules question, and more of a design question, so can't really help there.
Brillant, mate.
Thanks Robert!
Hi, Rodney. Amazing work as always. Is your Hatchet's name a reference to Isaac Asimov's Foundation series?
You got it!
This was good
Glad you enjoyed!
For range attacks do you target enemies at maximum range like if u have range of 2 do you have target stuff that are always 2 hexes away or is it up to 2 hexes ?
Up to 2!
Quick Questions to "The Big One"@6:23
It says in the rulebook:
The character can perfom a ranged Attack 3 on all enemies in the cluster of seven hexes, so long as at least one of the depicted hexes is withing range 2.
Does this mean I have to have line-of-sight with one enemy, or just one hex and and I can attack an empty hex.
And even if I can just hit one with range 2, I can hit everyone else who is in said cluster even if they would be at range 4
It's been a little while since I shot this, but I believe this thread will help - let me know: boardgamegeek.com/thread/2457065/demolitionist-big-one
Thanks!👍🇺🇦

Is there any way to get your action cards back to avoid exhaustion?
Hi Benjamin, I shot this videos series long enough ago that I don't recall all the rules, but any options you have would be detailed in this video series.
In the first video it explains that you meed a short rest to get your cards back to your hand but must lose one for the rest of the scenario.
This game seems like a video game converted to board/card game. There is a lot into this game. And I just got my copy. Hoping 4 characters isn’t too much for a GH Noob like me
How did it go?
@@WatchItPlayed I am enjoying the game very much. The times I play all 4 at once are definitely “mentally taxing”. There’s a lot to keep track of, but it’s worth it.
Wait was push and pull changed? I thought in normal Gloomhaven you had to always use the full value of a push or pull for a character unless you couldn’t.
I don't know if it's changed, or if maybe you misunderstood the original rules (I never played the original, so I can't say), but this is how it works here.
Yeah, I think push and pull were changed from original Gloomhaven.
Yep - in the original both monsters and characters had to push/pull the full amount if possible (or not use the push/pull at all). In JOTL the monsters still have to push/pull the full amount if possible, but the characters can choose to only push/pull some of the distance
Chris Ashton so has this rule been re-written for the Big Gloomhaven? (I have both but am starting with JOTL).
@@WatchItPlayed You’re fast! Thanks.
I might investigate further, but I’m okay with your first thought. Seems logical.
Good day to you!

I was a bit confused by that point too 😅
It's clearer now
The only question about Jaws of the Lion Rodney can't answer: why can't I find this game at my local store?
I've been hearing it's tough to find right now - must have sold well. The exclusive to Target is only a month, and then hopefully it will be available in more locations.
You can order it online from Target.com and have it shipped directly to you. They have copies.
@@steelbeard151 ordered mine yesterday, expecting it tomorrow
So I saw that you answered how you had LOS at ~7:15 - I had to come to the comments to understand that, thanks! Quick follow-up: Since the closest enemy is in an adjacent hex, your comments directly following would indicate that you should get disadvantage on your attack on him. BUT, in this case, your LOS technically must go through another hex to get to him, so could you say that for the purpose of that attack he is not adjacent, or does the LOS not really factor in?
That figure is adjacent, so when dealing its damage, I would have disadvantage against it.
@@WatchItPlayed Wow, thanks for the quick reply!
@@WatchItPlayed Thanks for fast replay and claritfying!
The reshuffle is explained in video 1 of this series.
I already feel my mind power fading!
Ryan Vaughan, I’m also going to make everyone dress up as their race, so you might be right about cruelty. At least, I will be providing a full fridge of premium adult beverages.
Watch It Played it was worth a try...
Could you explain 7:23 again? You couldn't just shift the damage area to be a upper corner hex and damage that one Raider who is currently unreachable? In other words, do you HAVE to have line of sight for all your targets when using that card?
You'd have to have line of sight to a target to cause it damage.
@@WatchItPlayed thank you for responding! I get it now. Those two were in line of sight from the open door!
THAT'S A LOT OF DAMAGE!!
Calm down Mario.
Love these videos. One question: Do you still use attack modifiers when doing basic attacks?
I shot this long enough ago that I don't quite recall what I said, but if I don't say that you don't, then you do :)
Yes every attack uses an attack modifier card to simulate the chaos of battle and the luck involved.
You'll find that covered in the first video from this series: ua-cam.com/video/sCpQqrCiTDs/v-deo.html
@@WatchItPlayed yes, the video says for the first encounter the decks are the same as the player`s, but it doesnt say where this information is available nor if it`s the same for each monster, unless I missed? rewatching just in case.
@@martinidamian It's the same (until/unless a scenario instructs you differently).
@@WatchItPlayed Rock and roll!!! thank you for the answer, enjoying the game thoroughly. :)
@6:55 , is the monster beside Hatchet, on the other side of the wall, considered adjacent to Hatchet?
Two hexes are adjacent to each other if they share a border. Two figures in adjacent hexes are considered adjacent to one another. Two hexes separated by a wall line are not considered adjacent.
You showed a monster on top of a Money token. That monster MOVED on top of that existing coin right? You didn't loot HIS money that shows up only after dieing?
Correct, he moved on top of the money token. I'm showing that a monster on top of loot doesn't stop it from being looted.
When a vermling raider pushes an enemy-is that referring to other vermling or to one of the players miniatures?
A player's miniature.

1) You must use both cards.
2) You may move UP to the value shown.
@@TomasWiklund Glad it was helpful! You still discard the card in the case you describe.
The monsters in previous room still activate.
@@WatchItPlayed thank you so much for the very quick response! We continue to enjoy these games because of your videos!
As long the door is closed mosnters cant move through it so the locked room remains without monsters. Once door is open all mosnters are revealed and they all activate and can move throught the open door.
Can you explain how The Favorite works?
I do try my best to cover all the main rules of a game, but I avoid individual card effects as that would get into a level of detail that would be impossible for me to maintain across all the games I feature.
thanks for the amazing video! just a quick question, going further into the scenario, do the items available in the item shop increases since it only allows 01-13 for now? If it does, how does it increases?
Hi Jessica, I'm not quite sure what you mean by if they increase? You mean, does the number of cards in the item deck change? I haven't played the entire campaign to know exactly what's in all the hidden boxes, so I can't say for sure.
@@WatchItPlayed I was asking whether or not more item would be available in the store but i think i figured it out. thanks for the reply!
7:20 the card used in the example belongs to the demolitionist right? But isn’t that miniature hatchet?
Right, the monsters act as shown in the video.
At the end, you said, “find the first two level 1 cards...” why if they got mixed up while we looked through them? Before we got to this video
You'll find numbers in the bottom corners of the cards. Find the two Level 1 cards for each character with the lowest numbers. Those are the first 2.
1) You play as normal until the door is opened.
2) Did this happen to you, or are you asking if this can happen?
@@WatchItPlayed So this didnt happen yet. I havent played the game yet. I just bought it, and im trying to familiarize myself with the rules first.

Right, they resolve the card as much as they can, ignoring things they can't do.
thank you so much@@WatchItPlayed
Why do the coins respawn upon losing the scenario if we get to keep what we looted? Unless i misunderstood, it sounded like he said everything respawns cept looted chests (most notably, coins come back) and since you keep your coins you got prior, then is this not a loop in which players can farm coins? what am i missing here?
Answering "why" is tough, that's more of a question for the designer.
There are rules for this - I haven't looked them over in detail, but I make mention of it in the final tutorial video for this series.
@@WatchItPlayed, I used BGG form and found the info there. Turned out, my assumption was correct :D Thanks!
@@SzyFuj I was about to ask this question as well, do you still have the link to the BGG forum post? (For me, Vermlings already took their turn, then we opened the door to reveal new ones, do the new ones get another turn or just act next round?)
For actions in one half of the card separated by a ....... can I choose the order to act ie. Move first or loot?
They must be done in order from top to bottom.
If a monster is disarmed can the still use push?
My understanding is that it can't, if the push is a part of the attack.
That said, let me try to summarize some of the rules from the manual, with some extra notes from me, to see if it helps with your questions:
At the start of any monster’s turn, regardless of what the monster is doing, the monster will find a focus.
Otherwise, even if it is not performing
an attack at all, it will focus on the enemy it can get adjacent to in the least amount of movement.
Try watching again, he covered it. It would move to the next focus. Not to a trap.
We lost one of the later introductory scenarios (#4, I think).
@@haukionkannel Normal Gloomhaven rules also allow you to change the meanings of the x2 and null modifiers.
