I bought one close to 5K under MSRP, its worth the bump from limited because of the brakes, suspension, seats and steering change. The price i bought it at will likely make it easy to trade in for the tS. The car drives like a dream and has a ton of tuning potential, it can also fit a normal size human. These cars are available at low prices because everyone is waiting for the tS or throwing away 5-10k on limited production GRs.

Stock brakes sucked on the VB, I can only hope the Brembos are better. Will find out in June.

I agree with you. plan on buying a used limited and slowly converting in into a home-made sti with used parts. Sti drivetrain, brembos, recaros, etc.

Can’t look back at the old sti and compare new car prices to it. Those days are gone sadly. I do agree tho 42k is absolutely ridiculous for this tiny economy car with fancy seats, brakes and wheels.

Well I think compared to other cars out there in the price range it’s high.

I recently purchased Street / Performance Pads (F / R); DOT Braided Stainless Brake Hoses (F / R); and High Temp Brake Fluid. I have not installed these things yet, but I am hoping it makes a significant difference compared to the factory setup.
P.S. I paid US $28,900 for my new, base model, 2023 Subaru WRX that same year and can't be happier with my purchase. This vehicle - IMHO - is the most practical and fun car I have owned to date.

Sitting in my living room looking at my limited SOP 22' and I'm still loving it.
I applaud Subaru for adding this trim because it's definitely needed. I think the only thing my WRX is missing is the recaro's and the brembos. But it's a great daily and I love it
Edit: I do agree if they're gonna do something like this, why not just also do a better tranny and add it to the price.

In Canada, they used the RS name for the trim. And the price is $44,400 CAD ($34,500 USD) which is significantly cheaper than I thought it would be.
With that said, I was thinking of leaving Subaru ( we have bought 5 in the last 11 years: STI, WRX, BRZ x2, and Outback [never had a single issue with any of my Subarus too] )
But now with this RS/TR WRX, it’s really appealing to me and I might buy another in a years time ( and keep my BRZ RS/PP for summertime fun )
It’s a good package. I just wish there was the HK sound system in the Canadian RS, Starlink remote start, and heated rear seats.
Those are the only features I would miss.
With that being said: I would also add from factory, the sport black grill, the JDM style led fog lights, and the sti short shifter.

I don't think it's worth it. If they offered the STI gearbox and DCCD then it would be worth it to me.

We’ve had three years of runaway inflation since the STi. I think if you could haggle this down to $40k, I’d get one. Subaru is taking $2500 off every WRX. The TR won’t be a limited production model so I don’t think it would be too difficult to get that if you shop around. My local dealer has three right now.

Does anyone have direct experience with the VB Recaros in the GT trim?
I love the drive of the VB, but I'm concerned about the Recaros being too tight. My ND 30AE Miata has Recaros and 2 hours is about the limit.

@@Gonin60I'm a lean 240...soldier/ground pounder with visible lat syndrome. Ricaros are tight, but I like them because they keep me locked in. Age has added a few pounds I'd rather not have that can make it uncomfortable if I'm not sitting in it perfectly. I sit down, settle in, and it's reasonably comfortable, but if I am in a hurry I can find myself trying to reposition myself at the first stop. You just have to find the right position and stick with it.

It doesn't really do anything for me, but then I think I've moved on from most of Subaru's lineup with the exception of the BRZ. Back in the early to mid-2000s I was heavily into the Subaru camp and almost everything they made I liked. But as they've become more and more mainstream I've just kind of lost interest. Both my wife and I have had numerous Subarus (roughly 10 or 11 between us), but nowadays the only one that really interests me is the BRZ, and rumor is that they'll be dropping that come 2025.

@@Gonin60 Well technically, only 3 were strictly mine and the rest were my wife's cars (although I still drove them whenever we'd go out together).

If this had a STI driveline it would be a decent option if you can get over the looks...But you still have the open diff trash the others come with. No way id go for this over a GR corolla. Its the exact same price as a premium model. Mod wise buy an evo if yo want power, Subaru have always bricked themselves short of a new shortblock. Now you have a car with a bad shortblock and a bad trans for power
