Thanks to Cobb for putting the auto-on/off back! Thanks for the interview to find out about the learning process the AP needs to work well with it. I posted a while back, and found it odd that my AP didn't work the same as everyone else's! Nice to know there was a chipset change, and I wasn't an idiot for not getting it to work! I'm all for emissions controls and clean air. The old timers that claim engines were 'better' back in the day before have it (IMHO) dead wrong. All of the ECU monitoring and fuel economy requirements have led to more efficient engines which also gives you more powerful engines per liter. With that said, and as a Ph.D. chemist, I see no need for that charcoal filter. Sure, it keeps HC emissions if you have a port fuel injection system, where there may be fuel left in the intake runners, but on a DI engine, there would be none (that is why we get carbon build-up on valves - there is no fuel to clean it!). That keeps COBB hobbled with using the factory intake. Also, a cat is a cat. If you can get one that is as good or better as stock, why not offer a J-pipe. COBB decided to be compliant, and that is good for their world-wide market, and not getting shut down. I'm glad they are also trying to apply common sense to emissions laws. We do want clean air, but power can co-exist!
I'm glad they addressed this. I recall some Reddit post about it and guys were arguing if the AP had the feature or not. We now know that it was a legit issue with some.
i don’t have any issue brake boosting my vb. foot on brake first, gas all the way, build to around 9 psi then let go and launches hard and boost kicks in fast
I have been a follower of your channel for a while now and watched a bunch of your videos. This was the best one yet! So much great information from the source. Please keep doing videos like this.
My shop has the transmission and I will be doing it myself with the help of a tech. It'll be done at ecotech and I will record it all beginning to end.
Thanks!! Dude I couldn't believe it. The timing was on point. I had heard the night before that this stuff was coming out but I didn't a week prior when I scheduled the trip. It just worked out that way!
That is some smart engineering by cobb to make their fmic only fit with their intake scoop which incorporates the factory airbox. That will make ppl have to either run no intake scoop or run cobb scoop with cobb intake. More $$$ for them.
CVT Vb has taken alot of the holden commadore sales.. Manuals are more the enthesis version and most dealers have it on pre-order compared to cvts are always in stock. only thing we are missing now is a real speed limit removal get throttled over 270km per a hr on the track :) the way it cuts out makes it feel like you have broken something lol..
Please get a solid answer on the ETA for our flex fuel kit. I asked a few weeks ago and they said it's anywhere from a few months to a year away. The community wants an answer damn it!!!
Are they going to come out with rev match feature for VB?, seems like that would be the next logical feature as well after flat foot shifting and launch control.
I don't believe that's something that can be done through software. The way the flat foot and launch control works is through the clutch and gas switches. Idk if the ECU has the ability to blip the engine without any actual commands. Even pressing the clutch it would only go to a specific rpm that is set by the user (In terms of FFS)
So basically what you guys are saying is that at this point it cannot be done because the car is not equipped with what it needs to have from the factory in order to have rev match
It's small but it's definitely within the capacity of all our Bolton's and a small turbo upgrade. I'm going to run the full Cobb setup next year for track day. I can't wait.
@@HeavyMetalWRX that’s awesome, I want a FMIC and an oil cooler and this seems like a tidy way to package it all upfront and still have decent airflow to the radiator
A full COBB setup is an easy way to introduce oneself into tuning and modding your car. Is it the most powerful way? No. However, it is a good way to get started as a beginner.
Sooooo stoked for rolling anti-lag, but even more so for that FMIC. Such a clean install, no need to remove stock parts or bend brackets, and best of all, it’s vertical flow which equals less pressure drop across the core as compared to the cross flows we have available now.
An STi my Subaru has for sale was one of cobbs development cars apparently and holy shit that was a BLAST drove it this weekend. but sadly Cobb couldn’t do a vin lookup to pull whole parts list or I probably would’ve traded the VB for it. Prob for the best VB is a beast anyways and only me owning haha. Great vid love these
@@HeavyMetalWRX We'd all love to see you do that 100% ! Thats exactly what it made me think of doing haha, pick an old like 13' hatch i love those bodies so much especially widebody.
I have a 2022 WRX tuned for E60 370whp/385tq/22lbs boost. I want to install an ethanol sensor to ensure I am blending fuel correctly. Does anyone know how soon the Cobb VB CAN bus ethanol sensor AP add-on will be available? I emailed Cobb and got stonewalled. Should I get the stand-alone Fuel-It version? If the Cobb version is 12+ months out, I'm not willing to wait that long. But, with my luck, the Cobb version will come out a month after I get the fuel-it version. comments?
Hey Awais, I had a question, maybe can be discussed in the next tuner talk. For the WRX CVT, I have been hearing there is a built transmission for them to allow for up to 700hp (I am still shocked when I heard those numbers too). Some examples are from IPT performance and Level 10 Transmission. I contacted them directly to see if they have built transmission options and still waiting their response. Is there a way to know if people have already done this for the SPT in 22+ wrx from varying tuners?
Marshall said it himself. OTS tune is great but it's conservative. A protune will definitely net you more power especially for your altitude. Either way is great way to go. Just get a good tuner.
What's up, Heavy?! I'm new to the Subaru crowd, as I just got my first a few months ago. I've already tuned with a JB4 and added some stuff to it. What's the main difference between the COBB AP and the JB4? I also don't live far from STL and actually work in South County, so it's love to get together to check out your car.
Did they Actual run it? I know fuel it has a kit that's kind of flex fuel. Maybe they ran that? Do you have any videos to reference? Id love to do a bit of research.
Marshall did say something about the charge pipe clip and troubles with it slipping. I think they did a new version. I would reach out if you are still having issues.
Hey! Organize a meet or the likes in the evening if you're still here and I may show up ;) I'm just down the street from Cobb. I own a VA WRX and a ZD BRZ.
I talked to the Vermont Sports Car team about this a few years ago at the 100 Acre Wood Rally. They said leave the hood scoop open when you have a front mount. It lets in cool air that forces the hot air rising off the engine to escape out the side fender vents in the engine bay.
Why haven’t you guys done anything for the 2020+ Outback/Legacy XT? We have been asking for years now. But you guys did it for the Ascent…? Some of use want a real family car and still have some fun. If only 10% of Outback/Legacy owner’s bought the upgrade, that’s 200-400x more consumers than the entire WRX cars bought

Rolling boost feature would be great, it's quite annoying trying to roll against someone and not being able to brake boost a VB WRX.
