Most who serve now days face danger constantly whether they are in a "combat" role or not. Take my wife for instance who is in transport but had her convoy fired on, her friend's vehicle hit an IED and rolled over severing both of the friend's hands. She still talks about trying to find all of her friend's fingers in the sand. Is that shameful? Hell no.
There is no shame to be had in not seeking the opportunity to spill the blood of another. Nor refusing the opportunity there of. He did his duty, in a time where no ones hands were truly clean. And shoulders that burden along with his countrymen, no one greater, no one less. It was what it was. Tears in his eyes, he would do it again, standing tall in defense of his little island home. Can we just admire the Chemistry between Bernard Cribbins and David Tennant when there on screen together, they are absolutely fantastic delivering their lines. Plus Wilfred has got to be my favourite companion next to Sarah Jane Smith, even though he only has a small amount of screen time when compared to other companions. I would have loved to see him as a companion for a whole series back in Tennant's run.

I love it when The Doctor finds his Best Friend in some incarnations. For Two it was Jamie, for Four it was Sarah Jane, and for Ten it's Donna Noble. Her family, comeplete with tender Gramps and nagging Mum, really was the closest thing to a family he had after losing Rose, Mickey and Jackie. But even that relationship was more like in-laws with his and Rose's obvious attraction to eachother. The Noble Family feels more like they adopted the Doctor. Wilfred protected him like a son, and Donna argued with and defended him like a brother. They all know eachother so well by the end that when he has to say goodbye he is able to give Donna what he knows she needs. Not advice, not a man, she's already found her happily ever after on her own because she's amazing. She just needed financial stability, and that's one thing the Doctor can easily give.
Yeah. Donna was a good companion. “I just want a mate” was a good way to continue the series after rose. It’s a shame it weren’t on to that weird love triangle with Amy and Rory. Glad they diverted away from that (only to make it worse with clara). I LOVE this version of Sylvia! It goes to show you that becoming a better person doesn’t fundamentally change who you are. You can still be shrill and overbearing but it can be loving too
Wilf was such a lovable guy. Supportive of Donna’s desire to travel with the Doctor, brave enough to stand up to the Daleks, and just an overall caring guy. In The End of Time he even represents the audience when he breaks down and begs the Doctor to not die fighting the Master. He’s so relatable in that moment! 😭

What lots of people probably don’t realise is that Bernard Cribbins was actually a companion meany years before this. In the filmed version of The Dalek Invasion of Earth, starring Peter Cushing as the Doctor, a much young Bernard Cribbins played DI Tom Campbell who inadvertently became a companion after mistaking the Tardis for a real police box. After helping the Doctor, Susan and new character Louise (the Doctor’s niece) save the world, he then caught some criminals back on Earth and imagined he’d probably get an OBE for it! There was a wonderful sequence of him pretending to be a Roboman, which is a classic!

Millwater Publishing: Are you seriously claiming Doctor Who has ever been anything other than left wing? That's just bizarre. They were ripping into Thatcher in the 80s left, right and centre. It's always been to the left.
It was always... "Open minded", shall we say. #3 got on well with the hippies. They ripped on Thatcher & co in the '80s (though this wasn't so obvious to an American viewer)... But it wasn't so completely one-sided. You had conservative characters like the Brig *not* being treated as villains or buffoons. It was over the course of NuWho that they slipped into full "Shut Off Your Brain And Go With The Hard Left Agenda" mode... In Classic Who, the Zygons try to invade the Earth, #4 and the Brig stop 'em, kill the lot of 'em. No more Zygon trouble for decades. In NuWho, Zygons try to invade the Earth. A trio of Doctors apparently help devise some idiotic plan to let them stay. Within a year, the Zygons break the treaty, and #12's "solution" is to do the same thing over again. (Definition of 'insanity', that.) Nevermind how great Capaldi was at delivering the 'give peace another chance' speech. He was convincing Humanity to commit suicide. Not unlike what the Left is doing to Europe.
Millwater Publishing That’s because since the Tony Blair administration and the introduction of the Red idents ( Red = Labour remember) it’s been left wing bias. Prior to that it was always impartial, even in the 80’s, it just reported the news, ITV was more left wing than the BBC back then, presenters were impartial and had to be impartial, that’s why Kate Adie was sacked due to her putting her own bias opinion in her reporting which you were not allowed to do back then. Now of course it so obviously left wing biased and a lot of the newsreaders read their own script. The left always screws things up, socialism never works, it never has. Even Gorbachev tried with own brand of more “ democratic socialism” he opened up Russia sure but it failed and Putins reversed everything he did do for the country and we will no doubt have another “cold war” with him her in the UK.

“You did your duty, but you never killed a man”
“Dont say that like it’s shameful”
That interaction didn’t really hit me as a kid but as an adult I love it.
Wilf is my all time favourite companion of the post Donna era, we all need a Wilfred Mott in our lives 👌🏼
Relative to the "causal nexus" ... Did he just make that up ...

maybe not o_O
Its a sci-fi show, there's no reason to assume he made it up
Wouldn't be the first time the show's writers made something up.
Well he did admit that he had no idea of what "spatial temporal hyperlink" meant, he just made it up to avoid saying magic door. Rule 1, don't take everything the doctor says as universal fact unless someone else also says it.
'Understand?'
'Not a word'
'Welcome aboard.'
Wilfred and the Doctor are superior fight me if I'm wrong
Why Bernard isn't a knight I'll never know .he's done everything ..he's also been in Dr who in the movies and became one of the most popular and beloved companions ever ..IV heard he's not in the best of health ...hope he pulls through ..I salute you sir .
😫
"You can't come with me"
"Your not leaving me with her!"
"Fair enough"
David Tennant is the whole reason why I started watching Doctor Who.
I’m sorry, 10 and Wilf should have had their own series where Wilf was the doctor’s companion. Their chemistry is amazing!
I've always loved Wilfred and Doctor together.
Rest in Peace Bernard 🥺🙁
4:00
“Are you shouting at thin air?”
“Yes”
😂😂😂
I do love how utterly British Sylvia was when she saw the Doctor. Frustrated and angry with him, and then the moment he says "Merry Christmas," she says it right back.
RIP Bernard. You are at peace now
One of my favorite scenes was the little banter as they enter the TARDIS, escaping an irate Sylvia😍
I loved Wilf! R.I.P. Bernard!🥲
Wilf doesn't want to be left alone with an angry Noble woman. The scariest force in the universe
"Why can't you hop back to yesterday and catch him?"
"I cannot go back inside my own timeline, I have to stay relative to the Master within the causal nexus. Understand?"
"Not a word."
"Welcome aboard."
"Thank you."
Bernard Cribbins never disappoints, Not watched Dr Who since Tom Baker but saw the Films and Bernard was spot on then.
It always baffled me how they kept talking about the US President being able to magically fix the economy in this episode.
Yes... Even back when NuWho was still pretty good, you could see the Lefty stupidity creeping in. :(
Millwater Publishing: Are you seriously claiming Doctor Who has ever been anything other than left wing?
(Definition of 'insanity', that.)
Nevermind how great Capaldi was at delivering the 'give peace another chance' speech. He was convincing Humanity to commit suicide. Not unlike what the Left is doing to Europe.
Millwater Publishing Is that tinfoil hat on your head comfortable?
"I was shown him by the Ood."
"By the what?"
"By the Ood."
"What's the Ood?"
"They're just Ood."
I love that exchange.
“bye bye see u later!” lol fucking legend
“You’re not leaving me with her.”
*The Doctor sees Sylvia marching towards them terrifyingly and decides that he is not, in fact, horrible enough to leave Wilf behind with an angry Sylvia.*
“Fair enough.”
I feel like the sound of the tardis should’ve jogged donnas memory. Mickey and rose’s mom could hear it from blocks away and knew exactly what it was.
I know we all love the “you can’t leave me with her line.”
But is no one gonna mention Wilf just told the doctor “you can’t park there.”
I'm glad everybody writes out the dialogue in the comments. Saves me having to watch the clip.
Can we bring wilf back even if it was just one episode I would love to see him and 13th do a episode together
Well, wish granted! Just wait till the 60th
@@sparkedghost well, kinda, it'll be Wilf and 14 probably.
@@concon09090 and tate and tennant.
Rip bernard
@@concon09090 but who will be the 14th ?
-You never kill a man
-No, dont day that as it was shameful.
And things like this is why i love Wilfred, he is my favourute charactee of the entire series so far 💕
Remember when Doctor Who was fun? I miss those days.
“Oh yeah, it’s bigger on the inside! Do you like it?”
“I thought it would be cleaner”
BEST COMPANION
I love the slight voice crack when he says “right now” hehe
Wilfred was one of my favourites from Doctor who - great actor.
I love how David welcomes him aboard after the old man said he didn't understand the wibbly wobbly timy wimy things, lol.
RIP Bernard Cribbins
Can we just mention that if Sylvia wasn't such a nightmare to deal with, The Doctor wouldn't have taken Wilf, and would have survived.
do you think the doctor would have let that random person die in the room? I think even the doctor we got at the end would have saved them.
I thought it'd be cleaner 😂
Cleaner?! I could take you back home, right now!
I really love that high-pitch voice crack when the Doctor says that xD
Rest in peace Bernard. This show was not whole without you! 🖤
