    We don't know what they're going to cost, same leakers said the 4090 would cost $2500, a new article from WCCF Tech today says the 5090 will cost the same as 4090, who knows. As for AMD they have shown generation after generation they aren't interested in competing with Nvidia on price instead of following the prices Nvidia sets at the beginning of each generation. This has become a meme at this point where it is mentioned even in reviews, they release their equivalent GPU to Nvidia at $50 or $100 cheaper, and than months later they slash their prices to what they should've been to begin with wasting an opportunity to gain market share when the hype and fomo is at it's highest.
    The trap some people fall into is manipulating themselves to believe that one company are the good guys who care and the other the bad guys who don't and make purchasing decisions out of spite, when in reality they are the same, trying to make as much money of the products they have to offer to the free market. The free market than decides what something is worth based of whether it sells or not, if it sells price stays the same, if it doesn't price goes down. Very simple concept.

      if you think that AMD can win with lower prices than Nvidia you're delusional. look the price of iPhone vs Xiaomi. iPhone is way more expensive. which phone sells more? iPhone. it's all about brand recognition. who has this in gpu market? Nvidia. how do you think the 8gb 4060 outsell the 12gb of AMD at same price range? brand recognition. that's how Nvidia wins. Nvidia AIB market share is 88%. the overwhelming majority of gamers see Nvidia and buy one based on their budget.

    • @TerraWare
      @TerraWare 2 дні тому +2

      @@SapiaNt0mata Well they're not going to win by pricing their cards very close to the Nvidia counterparts. Be it feature parity and mindshare a good price can make up for that. They do quite well in the mid range market.
      Ultimately though I think Radeon marketing in general is not good. For example FSR 3 frame generation can do a better job generating more frames than DLSS 3 FG at similar quality, and if you have an AMD gpu it can generate even more frames. This is something they can use in their marketing and that they can do it without specialized hardware.
      I've never seen them market this, just something I found out by benchmarking and others have found the same.
      Nvidia is out there making deals with system integrators, sending review samples to content creators or sponsoring streamers.
      AMD almost don't bother. Ancient Gameplays one of the top AMD creators had to make a video voicing his frustration that people dont even answer his emails. One of the most helpful guys. Even Nvidia saw an opportunity and send him a couple of cards.
      I follow both Geforce and AMD on Twitter. Nvidia are very active always advertising their tech, doing giveaways etc. You win mindshare by have a competent marketing team and being as competitive as Nvidia which are geniouses at marketing.
      I say this because I want to see them do better but I take issue when people try to frame AMD as some sort of a victim in all this bullied by Nvidia and brainwashed consumers who dont know any better.
      It's AMD's job to make sure that the consumer knows better. Right?

    The stuttering in SH2 that Alex was talking about isn't an Nvidia exclusive issue. It's an issue on all cards. The game uses heavy Volumetrics and GI so things are even worse on Radeon. I'm a fan of both companies and want AMD to make full features cards as much as anyone. If you are wondering what I'm talking about with the GI and Volumtric issues look at Radeon drive patch notes over the past year. Over 20 games have released in the last year that AMD themselves listed as having issues with GI, Volumetrics or transparencies. Usually a combo of crashing and graphical glitches.

    It has to be said but Nvidia has by all accounts become the Apple of Computer Hardware. People will shell out 2x what they paid before just for a marginal upgrade. And Nvidia knows this, and they know that they have pretty much the entire market cap of GPUs. You talk alot about AMD but Intel is still miles behind in GPUs, so overall, Nvidia still leaves the others in the dust. So they'll continue to take advantage of it, until the competitors are acknowledged. And I have a feeling that we're reaching performance ceilings, which are present now in Nvidia upgrades, that will give time for the others to catch up at better prices.

    it's not AMD who needs to "step up"; the reality is nvidia has brainwashed a large section of the computer DIY market that nvidia is an apple "halo" like product. they do it with features which have no discernable affect on your gaming experience like DLSS and Raytracing. People love to talk about features NVIDIA brings but no one talks about the fact these features are barely implemented by games (ray tracing, except for some cyberpunk 2077 mods, ray tracing is barely noticeable in pretty much every title that can use it) or have a massive impact on visual fidelity (people love to talk about how ass AMD FSR is but what no one say is how fucking ass DLSS is too. I mean i feel like i'm taking crazy pills. DLSS gives me a fucking headache to watch, it looks like crap. don't get me wrong, FSR is absolute trash, far worse then DLSS, but that's like comparing a honda accord to a pt cruiser, they're both trash and no one should ever drive one, but yeah, the accord is a better car, congrats).
    With without Ray Tracing, which has almost no effect on your visual experience outside of cyberpunk mods, there is almost no reason not to chose your gpu based on rasterization.
    But AMD loses time and time again when they try to compete with NVIDIA on price. from recent history, AMD released the 7900xtx at 1000, it was effectively a 4080super in raster/performance for 200 less. and no one bought it. no one touches it even now it's down to 800. yet people buy up the 4090 and 4080super and 4080. how do you expect AMD to "compete" when no one buys their top end product. hell people barely touch their gpus even now. the 7900gre is basically 4070ti performance for 550, vs the 4070ti which is a $800 card, the same price as the 7900xtx is currently. yet i'm willing to bet people will buy the 4070ti in greater numbers then the 7900gre (which is about it's performance level) and the 7900xtx which is far superior to it's performance level. why do i know? because it's still selling at 800+
    So what is AMD supposed to do?
    What people conveniently ignored the last two gens is starting in the 3000s they priced per performance vs their prior gen. the trend continued in the 4000s... and if these prices leaked by nvidia are real, the 5000s will also be priced per performance against their prior gen. they are no longer competing against their old cards in pricing. if the 4080 is about the performance of a 5070, expect the 5070 to be priced at the 4080's price. if the 5090 is x2 the performance of the 4090, expect the 5090 to be x2 the price. Nvidia is pricing against prior delivered performance only, and shifting the whole product stack up the price scale. at some people people will have to say no. but i suspect the team green fanboys will wait for amd's launch, see the 8800xt as the top of the product stack, see it competes at best with the 5070ti for 200 less, then when nvidia drops the price of the 5070ti $50 in responce everyone will sing nvidia's praises and rush out to buy the 5070ti and no one will touch amd's 8800xt
    I just don't see how this situaiton changes unless gamers are willing to divorce themselves from nvidias wastebin and stops eating Jensen's shit and thinking it's delicious.

    It's called opportunity cost. Think about purchases in terms of not how much money one must part with to have the thing; rather, think about what other things one is not going to have because the money for it has been spent on the first thing. Think about what else you could have for the same amount of money. I could have bought a 4090 at any time -- the $1800 is no issue. But I bought a 7900XTX for $900 and kept $900 to use for something else. I have other hobbies besides building and playing with PCs.
    If this comment makes somebody want to reply that if I weren't so poor I wouldn't have to make such compromises, please unplug your keyboard for a minute. Remember Sam Walton (founder of Walmart and Sam's Club) and at the time one of the richest men in the US, drove an old pickup even though he could have bought any vehicle made. Why? It suited him. It met his transportation needs. He was not "too poor" to afford something more expensive; he simply didn't suffer from new vehicle FOMO.

Part of me wants to sell the 4070 ti s and jump on RDNA 4 when it’s released just to support competition and ride that until RDNA 5 comes out. We can’t have a monopoly in the GPU space. It’s ridiculous what nvidia is trying to push with this initial round of releases this generation.
    (Also in case any one is wondering why I’m already upgrading - I bought the 4070 ti s as kind of a stop gap in the late spring to play Hellblade 2 at 4K. I wanted a 4080 S but just couldn’t justify spending that when the 50 series was around the corner. I was planning to buy a 5080 on launch - but what they’re releasing is an absolute joke, I won’t spend money on it.)

    Think it’s hard to comment on price when it’s not confirmed, think getting annoyed by a nonexistent product as of right now is a waste of energy. However, I will say that if Nvidia make the same mistakes as last gen they’ll be stupid.
    They could not sell 4080’s at their msrp, you could walk into a store and pick one off the shelf a week after launch. If they look at that and say, yeah let’s double down, then they’re fools.
    £799 max for the 5080, people tend to forget the 4070ti was supposed to be a 4080 but the backlash forced them to change it. £1200 for a 5080ti with more vram.

      3060 and 4060 have major advantage over amd which is dlss, fsr 3.1 is still much worse and not widely implemented and it's trash in 1080p, no one buys those gpus for rt.

      do we need $1,200 or $1,300 phones? no, but they exist. same applies for the 5090. 5090 exist cause Nvidia want to sell it for $2,000++ and get rich from idiots that will buy it. like Apple does with iPhone. iPhone didn't cost $1,400. now it does. why? people happily throw money, so Apple can go up in price. people spend $2,000 for a gpu, Nvidia makes a $2,000 gpu. it's so simple. and since people spent $2,000, Nvidia will increase the price for 5090 and people will buy it. then Nvidia will increase the price of 6090.

The issue with AMD is the raytracing performance is too far behind they really need to fix this problem but I just don't think its gonna be anytime soon. They should have used DDR6X to add more Vram if it where gonna be too expensive to add 16.

Maybe you need to, oh, I don't know, START PAYING ATTENTION??? For F's sake, the fact that RDNA4 is going to be more about RT performance increases than gaming performance increases is one of the biggest reasons that AMD doesn't want ATi to make a halo-level Radeon for RDNA4. The gaming performance of Radeon isn't an issue because with the exception of the RTX 4090, GeForce cards are out-performed by their Radeon rivals at every price tier.

    Your view point is comming from someone who tested amd and nvidia gpu in the last 2 generations,, sure amd is the real value gpu in the last 2 gen, but you have to see the perspective that nvidia was consistent in it's reliability in the last 15 years both the drivers and gpu it self. And people legit have really bad experience with amd gpu 10 years ago take in consideration that a average person just upgrades pc every 5 years. So when choosing a new gpu now people also consider is it worth it to pay more for nvidia just to be sure that it's stable. Specially if they got traumatize by amd 2 builds ago. This is the brand that nvidia established in the last 15 years. If amd wants to catch up they need to be consistently good for 10 years. Similar to what they done now on the cpu market.

AMD don't have the luxury to play with the prices. the only option is to follow along. the majority will buy Nvidia anyway, so AMD prefers to charge more instead of less and make more money. if they charge less they make less money. and it's not about price. iPhone cost like $1,400 and dominates other cheaper brands. Nvidia = Apple of gpus. they will outsell the competition no matter the price.

      @enmanuel1950 2 дні тому

      @@firexallst4rz277 Well you don't need to use framegen, you can just use upscaling and that alone is going to improve your fps a lot without introducing any input lag unlike framegen.
      4k monitors go up to 240hz nowadays. I imagine even a 5090 is going to struggle to do native 4k 240hz ultra settings not to mention it's probably going to pull 600W, which turns your PC into a heater.
      So there's many cases where running upscaling or even framegen will give you a better experience than simply running native:
      1-If you have a high refresh rate monitor and you're struggling to achieve triple digits refresh rates on max settings.
      2- if you can achieve your monitors max refresh rates on native but your card is pulling too much power and you want to reduce it without losing performance.
      Also by the way if you go from 60 to 120hz by using upscaling even if you were to activate framegen after, since you already reduced your input lag by half, you could enable framegen and you'd have less input lag than native cause you already cut frametime in half with the upscaler.

    The price difference isn't always as big as you are making out. The 4070 Super vs GRE and 4080 Super vs XTX for a long time has had around a 5-10 percent price difference. So you are paying like 2-4 percent more total system cost for better upscaling, RT, latency reduction, and general stability.
    Since picking the xtx over the 4080S you've been disappointed with how it plays in every game you've played since. And you make a video a day trying to convince yourself that saving $50-$100 was worth it.
    You've come down to making up reasons for liking AMD better. Like claiming the digital Foundry video was saying Nvidia had stuttering issues in SH2, when it's an engine issue and AMD has it worse in that game. And this color difference thing, never seen anyone else mention it. I use a Rx 6800 and 4070 Super and have never seen a color difference outside of when using RTX HDR, but that's a completely different discussion.
    Being 5-10 percent cheaper (after prices are forced to drop do to not selling) with a worse feature set than the RTX 20 series is not going to take market share. Ryzen didn't take market share from Intel by trying to match in one dated metric and falling behind in everything else. Especially when the everything else seems to be what modern games are focused on. Why would a dev worry about how the TAA looks when 60 percent of the market have DLSS, which looks better than TAA at 1440p and up anyway. And 95 percent of users who have a card from the past 3 generations DLSS. People with older cards likely know they can't get the best experience in new releases.
    You are under rating DLSS at 1440p. It actually beats 1440p native more often than 4k DLSS beats 4k native. Because the issues with TAA are even more noticeable at 1440p. If you are willing to take 5 seconds to upgrade the DLSS version, it nearly always looks better than TAA at 1440p. And what people call native now is actually TAA. As modern games require a form of temporal reconstruction for post processing, lighting and shadows to work correctly.
    I didn't dismiss AMD. I got a Rx 6800 and it made me appreciate how far DLSS had come at 1440p. It was to the point that I thought my monitor was going bad. But luckily I tested with another GPU and found that it was just TAA shimmering and blurring everything.

GPUs isn’t much of an argument when those GPUs themselves barely beat a 1080 TI from 2017 so Nvidia low to mid offering was a joke so to say that AMD was doing this great beating them is laughable. 3080 3090 AMD had nothing except for the 6900. That’s it everything else other than having higher VRAM they couldn’t compete end of story but you’re right people that buy Ferraris are they gonna use 80% of what the Ferrari has to offer? No, they’re not is it nice to have sure but same thing with a 4 x 4 truck? Are you gonna go off Roading every day with it now Nice to look at you better off with a Honda Civic something that’s gonna do the purpose it’s attended for do it well and do it for a good price and regardless of its AMD or Nvidia whoever that is what somebody should go with.
    But regardless, who cares AMD and video doesn’t matter at the end of the day use what works for you buy what you can afford and if all the gimmicks of a video you think great you’re getting ripped off either way so nothing I said was meant to be derogatory towards anybody by the way, just stating facts AMD’s always been two generations behind Nvidia. Silent Hill 2 stutters on AMD as well. Plus the 7900 XTX and AMD cards struggle compared to nVidia cards in Silent Hill 2 overall.

      I find it gross that he tried to imply that digital Foundry said Nvidia had a stuttering issue with SH2. Not what they said at all. They said SH2 has a stuttering problem. The amount of cope and self convincing needed to make that leap is mind boggling.

    • @RiVaL1416
      @RiVaL1416 3 дні тому

      @Sp3cialk304 yeah some of these videos sound like him convincing himself of his purchase. Trying to make it seem like the stuttering only happens on nvidia cards was misleading to say the least. 7900XTX is a great card but it is not perfect. Due to recent games with raytracing on by default it gets beaten by 4070 Ti Super and others at times. With UE5 and games using stuff like lumen the raytracing weakness of the AMD cards does exist.

    From the Nvidia side of these the biggest rip off in the med range section was the 4060TI 8GB for 399 dollars .
    In my opinion 8GB VRAM shouldnt exist anymore because it has not future in gaming even at 1080p .
    AMD 7900XTX is slightly below the 4080s and 4080 , but the 24GB VRAM gives the 7900XTX an advantage in the future .
    Remember back in 2019 AMD released Radeon VII with 16GB with 1TB/S bandwidth memory .
    Nvidia fanboys said the cards 16GB is useless and they wenr for those 2070 and 2080 . Now those cards have aged like crazy with these modern games because of 8GB VRAM isnt enough today for even 1440p high settings . SMH!!

      WTF are you talking about? The RX 7900 XTX is slightly FASTER than the RTX 4080 Super! Are you on crack or something? Nowhere in tech literature ANYWHERE does it say tha the RTX 4080 is faster than the RX 7900 XTX (except maybe LoserBenchmark).

    No power in the GPU diye only 24GB VRAM and ghosting FSR with stutter on a silent hill. Atleast good amount to store the video memory of stutter and crashing drivers

    AMD already announced the 8000 series will not have a high end card. There only putting out the mid range card. Which is not going to get them anymore people using there products.

    • @AvroBellow
      @AvroBellow 2 дні тому

      You're 100% wrong there. Producing a halo-level product is EXPENSIVE and the people willing to shell out over $1000 for a video card are all nVidia fanboys.
      The last couple of times that AMD gained market share were the Polaris (RX 580) and RDNA1 (RX 5700 XT) eras. You know why? It's because AMD recognised that their core consumer base were average gamers (easily the most numerous type) who bought mid-low to mid-high cards. If ATi were to produce a Radeon that was as potent as an RX 7900 XT but priced it at $500, it would be the most successful single card of its generation.
      People now trust Radeon drivers, understanding that not running DDU was causing the problems, not the drivers themselves. That was the only remaining roadblock and it's now gone.
      If ATi produces the RX 8800 XT as a neo-RX 7900 XT with 20GB of VRAM and similar performance priced at $500USD, I guarantee you that they won't be able to make them fast enough because they'll be selling out everywhere.

    • @Wuvixx
      @Wuvixx 2 дні тому

    Alll amd has to do is pull their heads out of their ass and lower the price ...its that simple. I live in Canada and GPU prices are almost double compared to the U.S. Example: Sapphire Nitro 7900xtx is $1677 dollars with tax and shipping. That's just ridiculous ! Its only affordable in the United States only.

    • @AvroBellow
      @AvroBellow 2 дні тому

      Why do you care about the Sapphire Nitro's $1677 price when you could go to your local Canada Computers RIGHT NOW and pick up a Gigabyte RX 7900 XTX Gaming OC for $1356 including HST? It's YOU that wants to spend that extra $300 for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON.
      Someone has to pull their head out of their ass alright but it's not ATi, it's entitled little whiners like you with their "Oh I've gotta have a Sapphire Nitro!" or "Oh I gotta have an ASUS ROG Strix!". I used to have a coworker who was a total GeForce and ASUS ROG Strix fanboy. He could see however that I'm a tech wizard and I convinced him to get a Radeon card (GeForce cards were way too expensive for him at the time) and so he bought a Gigabyte RX 6600 XT Gaming OC. He ended up falling in love with Radeon and realising that the restrictions that he had put on himself regarding GPU brand and AIB models was a prison of his own making.
      Two months later, I teased him about how terrible Radeon is and he said "Yeah, yeah, you were right, Radeons are amazing!" to which I replied "Guess what else I was right about... the fact that you didn't NEED to buy an ASUS ROG Strix card either!". He laughed when I said that and agreed that I was right about that too. He actually thanked me for showing him that spending huge amounts of money for a SPECIFIC Radeon model was not only unnecessary, it was a stupid thing to do. Now he's happily rocking a Powercolor Radeon RX 7800 XT Hellhound and he loves it.
      This delusion is caused by YOUR head being up YOUR ass because only someone who is extremely ignorant would make a post like yours. Instead of whining like a little bitch, how about you man-up and find a better way, like getting the Gigabyte model of the RX 7900 XTX? It's not like the Sapphire model is going to perform much better for that extra $300 that you stupidly think that you MUST spend.
      I swear, I don't know how you kids get these insane thoughts in your heads but you should be embarrassed that you would post something so stupid. I can tell that you're just a whiny kid becauise no REAL MAN would post that because he'd have to live in shame if anyone actually read it.
      I've owned so many different models of card over the years that it would make your head spin. Here's a list of brands and models of cards that I've owned:
      ATi: OG Reference
      Albatron: Gigi
      ASRock: Challenger, Phantom Gaming OC
      Gigabyte: Windforce OC
      HIS: IceQ
      Palit: Super+
      PNY: Verto
      Powercolor: Fighter, ITX
      Sapphire: Pulse, Nitro OC+
      Soyo: Baby Dragon, Monarch Dragon
      XFX: ONE, Triple Dissipation, THICC-III
      Zotac: AMP
      Guess what kid, they're all the GODDAMN SAME! The only thing that really matters is the GPU model because a Sapphire Nitro won't perform noticeably better than an XFX Merc, ASUS Strix, ASRock PG or Powercolor HH.
      I have an RX 7900 XTX myself, an ASRock RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming OC. Do you know why I chose that one? It's because, back in August of 2023, Newegg had some stupidly low open-box price on it. It was $1148CAD, cheaper than ANY model of RX 7900 XT, let alone other models of XTX. I bought it because it was the cheapest model available, knowing that "RX 7900 XTX" is what makes it special, regardless of what AIB brand or model is on the box.
      Part of growing up means learning to focus on what actually matters and ignore the small stuff like what brand and model of video card you have. Just go to your local Canada Computers and buy the Gigabyte model to save yourself $321. if you live in the boonies and have no access to a Canada Computers, then get an MSi Gaming Trio Classic for $1460 (incl. HST and shipping) from Amazon. This will open your eyes to the fact that what makes an RX 7900 XTX great is the fact that it's an RX 7900 XTX, not what model of RX 7900 XTX it is.
      Release yourself from your self-imposed prison of ignorance and just get whatever gives you the best price. Every company that makes video cards has either been doing it forever or, like ASRock or Acer, is relatively new to video cards but has been making motherboards (which are far more complex than video cards) since forever. There's no reason to worry about the price of a Sapphire Nitro card if you're willing to just buy a different one.
      And remember, my fellow Canadian... WE INVENTED RADEON!
