On Todays episode of Packed-In-Action Figure Reviews we are going to be taking a look at the newly released Marvel select Captain America and we're going to be comparing it to the 20th Anniversary Marvel Legends series Captain America. Please like and Subscribe!
it’s crazy, the promo shots did NOT do the select figure justice
genuinely a figure of the year contender
No justice at all lol crazy how promo pics are so important. Having it in hand made all the difference!
Wow excellent comparison. Thanks
Thank you so much for watching!
I see you've got the ML Blade figure in your other review, so I'll also recommend the Marvel Select Blade. The Select Blade is one of the best Blade figs I've ever seen and it's loaded with weapons to the 9s.
You know...ive always thought about getting that Select Blade but i dont normally get 7inch figs. But ill take your word for it cause i didnt think i was gonna like this captain america but i ended up liking it. Ill give the Select Blase a shot. Thanks for the recommendation.
Take a shot every time you say definitely. 😎 Great comparison! Very thorough! Is the Select shield smaller than the ML?
😂😂😂😂 Guilty as charged lol im working on it lol
the sheilds are roughly the same size so they are interchanagable.
the marvel select reminds me so much of the toybiz series 1 cap which is my fav cap
I’d love to get the Select and see if I can kit bash things such as the heads onto the Marvel Legends version and give the Select shields to the Legends
AWSOME VIDEO! Where did you purchase your clear flight stands? Thanks. I like the Marvel Legends figure a bit better overall. The Diamond select figure legs are too stretched out, but his shield is FIRE! 🔥
Thanks! The stands came from both the Mafex Storm and Magneto Action figures. I think most mafex figures have them tbh.
I think you could plug the 3 hole on the shield from the back with 3D printed plugs that could be removed when you want to use the effect pieces😀
Still can’t get over the holes in the shield thing….
No-ONE!, asked or wanted that😞
or at the very least they could have given us two shields.
its great but honestly, what's the point of getting him if his scale is completely off? unless you collect 1/10 7" scale figures most people won't get him
It's a starting point to collect another 7" figures. Storm Collectibles and DC McFarlane are on this scale.
@@ahadiyoso3974 As well as the 7" ZD Toys Ironman figures. Sure, they are restricted by Marvel to limited articulation points just like Marvel Select, but they look great if you don't mind the lack of articulation. The newest Heartbreaker and Silver Centurion figs look great with their metallic paint. Looks may more like robotic suits than the plasticky Marvel Legends Ironman figs.
@boywithanearring That was honestly my first initial thoughts. I do collect some Mcfarlane 7inch figures so he goes well with those. But you have a valid point. The select cap is a Solid figure though if you give it a shot.
@@sigerlion8608Do you know the reason why behind the contract articulation limits? i assumed it was money but im not sure.
@@packedinactionfigurereviews I'm fairly certain that it's to make sure the Marvel Legends line would have less competition. If you want as many articulation points on Marvel figures from other companies, you'll have pay $70-$100 like SH Figuarts or Mafex. So ZD and Marvel Select makes up for the lack of articulation with better aesthetics at the same price point as Marvel Legends.
Terrific comparison. I'm more of a Legends fan, but this Select Cap may end up in my collection. Let me know if you'd be interested in being interviewed for my website.
Thanks for checking out the review! im more of a Legends guy my self. This select is pretty cool though. And absolutely, id love an interview. it would be an honor 🙏 I enjoyed reading your beginner's guide to collecting. Number 4 & 5 got me 😅 i appreciate the networking lol
Nice review. I personally am so huge about scale so the Marvel Legends would always be my pick. I will say the mask off accessory and the shield is done really well. Also because of the size and scale, the Legends one has better proportions. Cap looks his normal size in Legends while the Select makes him seem trim for his height. Nothing wrong with this but I prefer Cap feeling hefty and not lean. Both nice at the end of the day.
Thats a fair judgement. i can understamd why you would say that. id say the select is broad in the chest and more slim in his legs. Particularly the calves, and quad areas. maybe thats what gives off the slim and trim look, but i think thats a fair assessment. i shouldve done size comparison to other select figures.
Good review. This figure looks better in hand than it does in pictures. It's better than the Marvel Legends version in terms of articulation. This is a great Silver Age version of Cap.
I'm gonna add this fig to my collection. I may add the Marvel Select Vision and War Machine and try to collect a 7" version of the Avengers.
Thanks for watching! This figure is definitely better in hand. It honestly had me reevaluate my thoughts on collecting more 7 inch figures.
You are very thorough.
Sometimes I get carried away lol Much Thanks Bro 🙏
I like ML better. I feel the MS looks a bit too retro to my taste. The ML is a bit modern while retaining some classic aspects.
Agreed. The select version definitely has a more retro appeal to it.
I like them both now we have a 7 inch Cap who can put a whooping on the Todd Mcfarelands 7 inch DC multiverse figures 💯😜👍😂😂😂😂😂
Marvel Vs DC!!! 🤣 🤣
Not sure which one comes out on top, but both can do this all day.
😂 i see what you did there lol
The 20th Anniversary is a bit pricey. I think the Ultimate version is a great affordable alternative at 1/12 scale.
Agreed. the ultimate Cap is definitely a good alternative. One of the best caps in my oppinion.
They got the head sculpt right here, the ML one is honestly terrible.
lok I like that the select comes with the alternative head for a more classic retro look.
You can add the marvel select straps to the legends one so you can clip the select shield on the ML Cap
i haven't tried that. Thanks for this.
Classic Cap needs to be pinless, right now I display Uiltimate as the main, since he looks so good, more update joints, and the colors really stand out more, also I'm a big fan of GIJOE, so Ultimate looks more like a soldier, which is the main reason of Cap. He is a superheroe, but also a soldier.
the Ultimate Cap is honestly one of my favorite Caps. i like that he comes with an alternative angry head sculpt. Most definitely a more Modern take on Cap, but also a very practical one as well.
You didn't say which one you liked better though. Kinda feel jipped here...
lol Thats fair....its hard to say honestly. if you collect marvel legends, than the obvious choice would be the ML Cap. if you dont mind a 7inch Cap from select, than that one would be a good choice.
you get more bang for your buck with the select version. More accessories regarding the variations of the shields and one extra hand...im leaning on liking the aesthetics more of the MS cap, but i perfer thebscaling of the ML Cap. my heart is torn tbh lol
If Marvel Select was in 1/12 scale they would definitely be a definitive replacement for a lot of collectors. At least in regards to specific characters. The 7 inch scale prevents collectors from using them in place of Legends.
i dont hear no lies lol as much as i love marvel Legends and their wide variety of characters, sometimes they are lazy with implementing better designs for their figures. the selects fit somewhat nicley with DC mcfarlane so you could have Marvel Vs DC. if Select figures had better articulation, Legends would be in trouble lol
I wish there was a way to make him 6inch somehow
wheres a shrink ray gun when you need it? lol I've actually shortned the 7 inch scale psylocke into my Legends collection. The porportions on this cap are too big unfortunately to try and manuver around the scale issue.
Wait until Mafex’s classic Captain America comes out this year. That figure will blow these two out of water
Only thing messing it up is that skin tone
@@aldoperez23plus the angry face looks like his teeth are welded together
@@bichonnation9494lmao thought it was just me. i gotta wait and see it in hand though.
we shall see! mafex does do a prettty good job on their iterations of characters though.
@@aldoperez23 No need to get racist bro
A Chinese factory needs to downscale this Captain America.
😂 Yo for real
Marvel Legends sculpts are sooooo lazy....
in general or did you find the ML captain America sculpt lazy?
@@packedinactionfigurereviews Most figures have the same chin, same angry face... its a pattern
@@Metaltech80 i know what you mean lol
Marvel Select cap kills the legends cap in every department.
As much as I hate to say it.... its true lmao The scale is the only thing that bothers me though, but apart from that, its a pretty solid Cap.
Accessories are better, but the figure isn’t
Except scale 😔 select cap don’t fit with fuckin nobody else unless ur willing to invest into replacing all ur 1/12 figures with select 7 inch scale figures. Which is gonna take forever considering how slow they’re putting figures out, and how unguaranteed articulation quality is either
@@bichonnation9494at least they are taking their time and I would personally prefer an amazing looking figure with limited articulation than a spooderman with great articulation
I prefer for scale Marvel legends
Marvel select all the way dude it’s not even close 😂😂😂😂😂😂
i just wish they had it in 1/12 scale!!!
