I frequently find myself waking up wishing I was an Eruption Heatran caught in Pokemon Ranger Guardian Signs and transferred specifically through Pokemon Platinum into Pokemon Black through Black 2 through Pokemon Y then Pokemon Sun into Pokemon Ultra Sun. Soon after into Pokemon Shield then finally into Pokemon Violet to be brought on a team compete in the Yokohama 2023 World Championships.
As someone who's so far down the VGC rabbit hole, this was a great and refreshing video to watch since you didn't just yap about topics that have been covered to death already
The “Interconnectivity Of Games Impacting the Competitive Landscape In Ways That Promote Play Across Multiple Intellectual Properties” Effect. Less catchy?
Wow that was a really well made and interesting video. I somewhat disagree with the level of intent by Gamefreak (I think for a long time they kind of just took it for granted that competetive players hack their pokemon) but I love the end message and I also think that it is better that there are more legal ways to build teams. On that note: PLEEEEAAAASE GAMEFREAK, JUST ADD A 0 IV BOTTLE CAP
That’s a very fair perspective! It’s tricky to pinpoint intent and how much it factors into the equation. But honestly, I’d trade all those answers for a "rusty" Bottle Cap any day! Haha
genuinely think heatran is one of the most underrated legendaries, at least casually. Sick cry, cool typing, etc. It’s nice to see it’s pretty goated in competitive
That comment about the tournaments is 100% true. Even if I didn't compete I would just spend all weekend at NAIC every single year cause it was a place I felt home at. Then they decided ti no longer have naic in ohio and the trip was too far to make 😢
I totally get that, there’s something special about the energy at in person events, even as a spectator. Here’s hoping it finds its way back to you in Ohio someday!
Great video, I think that this could be said to have started a few years earlier than the 2013 World championships. In fact all the way back in the third generation games, the way to obtain nearly any competitively optimal moveset required single-use TMs or once per save move tutors, as well as the Shadow purification moves. This meant that obtaining for example Self-destruct Snorlax and Self-destruct Mewtwo (two key meta threats) would require two *complete* playthroughs of Pokemon XD. Not just beating the first 1/2 of the game, you had to get through the entire thing. That's without even getting into the implausibility of obtaining perfect IVs + correct natures back then. This issue continued into generation 4 and 5, with not only Eruption Heatran, but also Follow Me Magmar/Electabuzz , Helping Hand Togekiss (in gen IV) and the aforementioned Self-destruct Snorlax being notable examples. Not only demanding expensive hardware but also unbelievable amounts of time. It is no wonder really that so many competitors resorted to hacking back then, as there was realistically no other way to have an optimal team.
@@oopsgtg Incredibly well-thought-out reply! I completely agree, there’s a strong argument that TPC laid the groundwork for this interconnectivity goal as far back as the early 2000s. It’s a fascinating angle on a piece of competitive Pokémon history.
@@PokeProfessorJosh I will be surprised if you don't shoot up in sub counts. The edits were clean and examples were concise. Really hope to see you get big soon man. All we can do is wish our comments give you more motivation to keep grinding.
It feels so validating to have people talk about this as soon as TPCI announced the rule said I knew that people would have opinions on it for years to come
Saw this on the recommend feed, really well put together video. Editing, engagement, and effort were all on peak levels. New subscriber, I'm already hoping to see you take off!
You could interpret the situation as a triumph of cross-marketing and interactivity between sister products in a franchise. Or as a disingenuous web of inconvenience meant to gate competitive fairness behind a paywall of unnecessary purchases and countless hours of menial grinding. It’s a matter of perspective but if you truly examine the scale of how many high level VGC players utilize “genned” Pokémon, it’s clear which opinion is more popular.
Did Hilary Clinton really say that Pokemon Go on live televison because I don't watch any politics news or broadcast about politics about who is running? I just vote for the new president and general elections.

Glad to have a fellow deep-diver here. Come with me to the bottom of the rabbit hole, friend. There are good stories waiting for us.
I've said it once, and I'll say it again... it's damn right CRIMINAL the fact that this channel doesn't get more views.
Good seeing you again! I’ll keep making the best content I can, and hopefully YT catches on someday.

It already has a term: pay2win.

Tera really leveled-up Heatran's game too. Such a great Pokémon.
Honestly the only things that drag it down is their lore and design, tbh
It originally wasn't meant to be a legendary to begin with lmao

Tera grass Heatran.... That thing has walled my Slowbro so many times....
Slowbro walls itself by virtue of being Slowbro.
Wtf... I just randomly came across this well edited and informative video.. only find out this is from under 1k sub channel. Insanity.
Thank you! I’m glad the quality stands out. I’m just focused on making the best content I can, and hopefully, the subs will come with time!
For real?? I'll sub. The algorithm is cooking this one up

It's bothering me that the strings on the thumbnail are layered behind the hands
A subtle homage to the covert puppetmasters behind TPC, pulling the strings from the shadows. The conspiracy goes deeper than we thought.
It feels so validating to have people talk about this as soon as TPCI announced the rule said I knew that people would have opinions on it for years to come
It was a pretty wild break from precedent and had a lasting impact on that year's competition in ways we're still unpacking. Really fascinating stuff!

Heatran should just be able to learn Eruption in the games now smh
I'm aiming for President Ishihara's position. Make Heatran Erupt Again!
Love the guy stressing about Pokémon looking at a onscreen when it’s played on the Switch/TV.
