- Artist Naomi Ventura creates charms using pastel colors and resin. The designs are inspired by Kawaii, the popular Japanese culture of cuteness. Ventura uses charm-making as an outlet for stress. It's also helped her gain over 28,000 followers on Instagram.

There are lots of people that do this. She is not the only one
Exactly
and insider never said shes the only one, did they?
She said she was the owner of that lol
No shit sherlock
So?
She could get into BIG trouble with Sanrio when/if they notice this.
Ches G no, sanario is American japan has its own thing that lets more people copy it
when you buy a character off an artist, you arent allowed to resell that character for your own profit in any case. its the same thing. japan cant buy merchandise with a specific design and then resell said merchandise to profit from it. its wrong in every way.
Some images they created for artists to use,
@@theboyntonbuddies Wait Sanrio is an Japanese company...
Literally thousand of people make jewelry and decoden with their and San X's characters. They dont care about small creators enjoying and sharing them- it's only a big deal when they're a big deal
Isn't it illegal to use copyrighted characters for her own benefit?
Ann Sm yes it is illegal
No, She bought them from a source that wasn’t the real charatars, probally from Japan or China, So the copyright is not very strict, Its more copyrighted that she’s saleing the bezels, that is really dishonest. She probally shouldn’t sale them like that though...
Ann Sm It is
Yes
Drama Potato Even if she puts work into them, its still illegal
...but isn't that copywritten material? (sanrio, sailor moon, ect)
Deez Donuts it is, as long as she isn't selling them it's fine. If she does to she could be sued for a lot of $$$$
she is selling them
she's selling them, making profit of other people's work.
Amber Lights Just so you know, if she would have been selling them, and she got sued, that’s different if you actually ask for permission to the owner.
No. Its not.
But a lot of the main design pieces like the stickers and frames are designs from other brands.
Like Rilakkuma (the bear), Sanrio's Hello Kitty and Twin Stars and Pusheen.
If she doesn't have a liscence to use them, she is basically making money off of other people's designs.
I don't wanna put down her craft, she makes the charms by hand after all, but why does she decorate them with other people's designs and not her own?
Thank you
No, She buys them from japan where’s theres not a lot of copyright xd this is not hard at all she’s really really basic, So no, I do it sometimes. I make sure it’s not copyrighted it’s from Japan, So there’s not a lot of copyright laws
Macaroon Cat I already guessed that, but still she is in fact making money directly off of other people's designs. She not creating fan art/referencing it/converting it to another medium.
She uses the brands literal drawn artworks as centerpieces of her designs and that's just not an ethical way of doing art in my opinion, especially with how largely she is selling this stuff.
And that substracts a lot from her crafting's quality in my opinion.
Just because something's legal doesn't mean it's a good thing to do.
Needleworker's Realm ikr it's like using an anime base, coloring it and saying "oh yeah I made all of this" she's basically taking all the credit when all she does is use other people's precious time and hard work.
Needleworker's Realm true, thank you
I am super happy for her! I absolutely love stories where people were simply creating something as a stress reliever or outlet and then it turns into a full blown career for them.. that’s so amazing.. if everyone did what they loved for a living, there would be no such thing as “bad customer service” lol :)
Rose Gold we need more positive comments.
Rose Gold true.
I believe it was Ghandi that said "find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life". I think that fits her :)
True
And yes guys! I’m loving the positive vibes from u all 🎉💃🏻 minus one 😑😂
So just plain out *CUTE CHARMS*
Ying main AF。 Inspired by Kawaii culture in Japan, as she says
Ying main AF。 IKR
JUST PUT CUTE
*facepalm*
OKI IM SAYING INSIDER DIDN’T USE THE TERM KAWAII PROPERLY
DeathnoteBB “Cute culture in Japan” doesn’t make a lot of sense...
Pikachu Draws kawaii is a japanese word...
O.K PEOPLE
I don't get why some people are mad about the fact that she's being featured here. Obviously, since epoxy resin and glitter is available to anyone, more than one person in the world will be making or even selling these. I'm sure most people who watch this video are aware of that. They never said she revolutionized art by doing what she does, they never said she was so super special. They just chose her and her little business to showcase this type of crafting.
Eloleth Eltarsi Its because she’s bad at it
Macaroon Cat strongly disagree. I've bought stuff about the same quality she makes and wear it proudly. Matter of taste I guess
she uses sanrio's characters, and making profit of them. that's copyright infringement!
peanutbutterismyjam that's the only valid argument anyone brought up so far though. Most of the criticism I've seen here is more along the lines of "but she's not special" "but she's so bad at it" "but her stuff is so expensive when it's not even good" blah blah and in that, I really don't see a point.
Agreed
kawaii isn't a culture, its just how they say cute in Japanese
She probably knows that
I think they used culture loosely. But there is a whole SUBculture of kawaii themed products and lifestyle choices. Its not simply just a word.
@Rachael Dowling or sweet lolita
oh come on now. it's a word but you know there are a million things, people, and franchises associated with it. it's not a huge or widespread culture- but it does exist to an extent.
Yes it is. Kawaii is a culture. Like Harajuku
SHe literally just told us her business secrets
Questions of the World she sure did-
Ok but does that mean your all of a sudden gonna start creating these?
Levy mcgarden lol maybe
Its not a secret. If you want to do it you can find the information everywhere on the internet
This type of art has always been common, she just decided to make it a business.
It’s rather smart of her, since most aren’t willing to do it.
Nani?
Justin Y. You are everywhere
Justin Y. I swear to god if someone gives you another death threat just because of your hobby I will explode
Yolo
You are literally in every available topic of videos in youtube lol
HHHEEESSSS A GOOOODDDD

Nacho TV it does
Nacho TV q
No
I thought it was salty candy!
*”Girly”* why do i hate that word so much ugh
EDIT: clearly some of you didn’t get what I’m trying to say. I equally hate the word ‘boyish’ in the same context. This isn’t about “tomboyish-ness”(btw I also hate that word) nor “r/notlikeothergirls.” I think I’ve explained well enough in the replies... Would you get a grip
ya lol same
Macaroon Cat Well I myself am a feminist but I did not say that every woman has to be a feminist😂 Like you said every girl can be whatever they want lol. Just saying that loving cute frilly lovely things should not be defined as ‘girly’
Same....it’s really sound so.....
Girl name.....
*mah nightmare is any girls look too much......I kill myself*
Good, Some girls at my school are forever teasing me. About things I can’t even control, And the way i dress, It’s kinda annoying. It’s a good thing you respect others.
I mean it IS girly tho
I’m a pretty feminine girl and that is cute and girly for sure
Looks easy..
Try it : what have i done
You have to be actually mentally handicapped if you cant do this....
The girlscouts do this at summer camp.
Black White everyone can make this, it just depends if they’re skilled or not, also I’m pretty sure Girl Scouts doesn’t have enough money to afford charms and resin for every person. I’m sure they’re just making those charms where you trace characters on shrink plastic and put it in the oven, it’s very different from whatever this girl is doing.
Me trying to make a gradient: What is this weird piece of scribble
I remember painting charms like this when I was a kid! Cute!
I hope theres a diy kit
Alice fun? When it's finished yea, but it requires a whole bunch of patience and it's a longer process to finish than most hobbies. And takes several times to get it right. But If you have it and your consistent, that's great tho.
Agreed so we can say to our friends “we made this” to impress them
Selena !!! Definitely lol
Check out Sophie and Toffee. They sell everything you need, including kits.
ILikeStarberries :3 200th like
I feel like I’m the only one in this comment section that isn’t triggered. I think these look cool!
AwesomeAna me too wtf
Cool yes,legal no
Good for you?
Same for me, They look really cool
IKR! So talented and has so much patience!
(Insider): Kawaii is the popular *"CULTURE* of cuteness"
(Me): *BEEP BEEP WRONG ANSWER*
It is a culture tho-?
The word Kawaii means cute
But it’s not just a word
Give her some slack jesus
agreed tbh
Wikipedia: IT IS A CULTURE THO
(See excerpt from the article)
"Kawaii (Japanese: かわいい or 可愛い, pronounced [kaɰaiꜜi];"lovely", "lovable", "cute", or "adorable") is the culture of cuteness in Japan. It can refer to items, humans and nonhumans that are charming, vulnerable, shy, and childlike."
Lol I agree
These hand charms are crafted with love and the results are beautiful
i love how everyone here is triggered for different reasons
*So many comments are like the "I am not like other girls" memes*
Ikr
@@chubbybun6495 yes lol
ARMY 💜💜💜✌✌✌✌
Omg yeah
Yeah 😂
I love the moon ones🌙💜
Isnt this copyrighted? Like it would be okay if she did this for fun and just collect them or smething but shes using it for her benefit?
Edit:how on earth did this get 100 likes?-
It is and she could be potentially sued for copyrighted works but it depends if the company would take legal action
Oh no
Yep, but to be honest she’s not a big deal to the company so they won’t pay much attention to her anyways
She does it for fun tho
@@God_is_Good0803 but shes also selling them
It’s really satisfying when she takes the charms out of the mold and when she blends the color in together.
Wow the moon charm is so CHARMing
Get it? Lol :D
Nice pun!
Cutieunicat7 ???
The only comment that makes my day lol. This comment section is overloaded with triggered teenager girls' comments wanting for attention.
Kawaii Charms? Never heard of it but I would like to get one.
Same
Kawaii is Japanese for cute
You can make one there’s a bunch of people doing tutorials for it on youtube ^_^
Go in etsy, thats where most of us sell these kinds of charms :)
Same
How is kawaii a culture :/
Exactly
Its just a simple vocabulary in japanese
But to foreigner otakus its like a culture to them
@@rinakihimeuirichiro2516 eh not to me :^//
@@onepunch1333 well to some, i guess. Most of the otaku i met before are like this. There are times that i heard to them that kawaii is japanese's culture.
Sorry i thought my english is good
@@rinakihimeuirichiro2516 oh yeah, I see that too sometimes
kawaii is starting to grow so much, that other styles are branching off it (ex: lolita) so it's basically becoming a culture itself.
But these have been in youtube since 2011
Bo0m someone finally said it
So has other forms of art, like sketching, painting etc. Doesn't mean that it's still not art.
The charms are beautiful.
I also love to sculpt cute stuff out of polymer clay, it's a lot of fun and a great stress reliever!
I’d have an anxiety attack if i spilled some on the wrong part
Most of the materials she uses are from subscription boxes and are not hard to use
Hi There yep
The charms are beautiful
im so happy for her and her stories about creating something to forget all of her problems or stress and making something more beautiful and cute
The charms are really cute and I'm happy for her
I love the galaxy animal themes the most
Me too!
These charms are real cute
I would do that, I just wouldn’t sell it for copyright reasons
Technically, she probably gets the materials from kits, which are sold by the companies.
Technically she is just reselling them, ready made and ready to wear.
Those are cute charms!! I would buy those if I could!!
Ya''ll out here saying that it is illegal to copyright characters! Leave her she is doing her work !!!!
Agree the thing is not even copyrighted i see alot of pictures of the sailor moon and stuff and i dont know where in the world do people get it from
Its illegal to sell it. Do you understand?
I read "how kawaii chan are made" 😂😂😂
Why does it sound like something from Ru-
why is everyone hating? i think these charms are so pretty!!
Ikr
There not hating they're just asking if its legal to use another persons design
Imagine u maked a design of your own, then a person just uses ur design without permission, and just makes money out of it
so it's just mixing pigments, glitter and pouring them into golden molds or smthn
Peachinne yep I do it
Peachinne yeeperie
Omg so KAWAII! Love love love it! Super pretty!
This is so beautiful.
aww the charms are super cute
Wow, this is so beautiful
Yes it is
Agreed
Will you just type it CUTE CHARMS!!??
Why
Kawaii somehow sounds cringe worthy to a few people like us I suppose.
@@ciphermin6542 well in japan i learned that kawaii doesnt have to be cute
kawaii is literally the japanese translation of cute
It just sounds like a weird weeb that tries too hard to act “Japanese” and use phrases like “Nani?!” Or any thing Japanese they can think of
So cute and creative!😍😍
I love how she blended the colors I really want to buy one of those
It’s cool but she is in big trouble if Sanrio finds this
Unpopular opinion: I don't think they're cute. :'>
They're really cluttered and bland, I've seen makers do a billion times better on like Etsy.
RuneyPruney yeah, I wish they focused more on the whole community on other platforms like Etsy, etc.
yeah but you got to remember this is a really basic craft hobby and not many ppl know much about it since theres so much other makers that have very special ways of creating their art and they are just showcasing that....But i get what you mean about the cluttered part but i think their cute
RuneyPruney i like the ones outlined in gold only, though it is rather pretty
RuneyPruney It’s also 16 dollars for each one.
Yikes...I mean I know resin is expensive but I've seen nicer one's for WAY less in other places. :x
Everyone gangster till she she says ""girly""
Srsly y do u always have to divide
I know right, the fact that they think being called "girly" is bad implies that they see something wrong with being a girl or like a girl.
girly is used to describe feminine things, what other word should they use?
Why do they need to specify this as a feminine thing in the first place just say it's a charm that's it boys or girls whoever wants
@@potatohead8537 boys can't like girly things?
@Amelie Paradis i'm not talking about one's *limitation* (boys only this and girls only that) NO and my comment was not to influence that but instead was just to signify that we should not *classify*
those charms are so cute!!!!!😍😍
That gave me a heart attack because she said “‘Naomi”
And my name is Naomi
Who wanted to eat it lol
Samara Lee you read my mind
It looked like chocolate at first
I'm pretty sure this is how the Tide Pod thing started.

Jay Kay yeah there are weirdos in comment sections who think everything is tasty. I'm a tiny bit concerned for them
My name is Naomi too. And I loved your work😍
She is so pretty!!
It's beautiful. I'm happy for her success!
Well Alexandra, in Japanese culture.. On google, this is the definition:
(in the context of Japanese popular culture) cute.
"she paints elephants that are extremely kawaii"
Like your pfp muichirou
AWWWWW SOO CUTE
I really want those charms! They're so KAWAII~!
These are too cute 😇
2:22 Yass We Go Home Forget About Assignment Forget About Responsibilities !!!
Lol I used to be obsessed with those
edit: this is me 2 years later, decided to edit the comment and omit some words out...
Im obsessed with charms too, but only half japanese and my name is Rin not Naomi
Yes
Where can I get one?
At a shop.
Earth
From the creator
They always are so pretty!!!
those charms are so cute I wish I could make them into earring
It's just plastic though... plastic which can't be recycled. I feel as crafters bringing things into this world we need to be responsible and think about where our creations end up. Eventually these charms will probably end up in landfill where they will never rot down even after thousands of years.
That's why when I make I like to work with wood, clay, or natural fibres. I feel bad about making things that will be harmful one day.
PREACHHHHH this was along the lines of what I was thinking
Macaroon Cat clay doesn't rot, that's why we have clay vessels in museums that are thousands of years old. If it breaks it can be crushed down into frit and incorporated into raw clay to make it stronger.
Wood, if kept indoors and dry, does not rot either. It can crack if not oiled but can also last a long time. Eventually rotting is good, it means the object is naturally returning to earth.
Also "you can't pass those things down", get real. Your dependents are not going to want little pieces of glittery junk
Macaroon Cat Why bother passing the junk you made in grade school to your future kids when your descendants can just go to the charm store and buy a professional one for like, $2.
It's not about how harmful little pieces of resin are, and how many more things are more harmful. It's about how it could be less harmful, especially since charms are things many of us buy and is largely sold. If charms and many other things could be a little less harmful to our environment, it could cause a large impact in our very polluted planet. I personally think it's admirable for people to try and protect the Earth, as the Earth is pretty polluted with human trash.
Also, I highly doubt ur descendants would want your old tvs, refrigerators, etc. As time passes, people invent better, more advanced version of the things we use today. Your TV is probably going to be sold at a garage sale or something xD
Congrats if you actually read my ramblings.
U know that kinda changes my mind about it, it’s good that you don’t yell at random people on the internet, You stated your opinion respectfully. 👍🏻
okay so youre telling me that you ALWAYS recycle plastic? thats bs. plus, theyre so tiny. like im all about people recycling, but youre making it seem as if you always recycle plastic
love this channel so much 😘😘
OH SHIT INSIDER IS COVERING DECODEN

Calling Kawaii a culture is literally saying "cute is culture"
So what,if I call someone cute, I'm cultural????
Except it is a culture in Japan. It's also literally their ideal of beauty.
Kawaii (Japanese: かわいい or 可愛い, pronounced [kaɰaiꜜi];"lovely", "lovable", "cute", or "adorable") is the culture of cuteness in Japan. It can refer to items, humans and nonhumans that are charming, vulnerable, shy, and childlike.
Btw I think she looks sweet, and these crafts take a lot of patience and aren't as easy to make as it looks so I have a lot of respect for the time and effort she puts in her hobby^_^
I really like Kawaii Charms, especially when their colors make them look like galaxy, they are so aesthetic!
The name is soo cringey..
OnlyAlex Ikr
Your spelling is cringy aswell
Kawaii? It’s a Japanese word and you can’t change that. It’s like saying the word brown is cringy.
How is it cringy?
But I thought people did these all the time????????????
Pinapple Vinegar yes they do I do it and I’m ten

hina K no, I think it just must be she wants you to look nice. I'm Asian and I see no point in what you said, your mom being Asian or not. She just wants you to look presentable.
Anne Campbell no when I mean cute, I mean really freaking cute like a doll
Do you like wearing cute things?
kittencat mm it’s not bad, I just think I feel to grown out of it
hina K just because she wears them does not mean shes Japanese
