  • Hey, My name is Tom. I don't know about you but I find myself wanting to DO everything myself. I consider myself a Jack Of All Trades. Master of none. What you'll find here will be anything from building or fixing cars or trucks, building or remodeling projects and everything in between. I get myself into some pretty interesting situations.
    I'd love it if you subscribed so we can stay in touch... You might even learn something. I know I will!
    Thank you for watching!!

    We had 2 very old, very tall, dying cedar trees professionally cut down in our small Brooklyn backyard last year. If the trees had fallen on their own they would have damaged our property and/or any/all of our 4 closest neighbors’ yards/houses. The tree removal company did exactly what it sounds like your tree guy plans to do: tied off and lowered sections (to guys waiting to receive them on the ground) one at a time until what remained of the trunks of the trees could be cut and lowered. Every piece was carefully lowered, nothing was just dropped. Took about 2 hours (including running the pieces through a wood chipper). No people or properties were damaged in the process. I will never regret having definitely worth having the professionals do that job!! Love your channel.

    Did you try calling your power company? My husband always tell people (he had his own business and worked for a local electric company with lineman as a tree trimmer/groundsman. He cut trees for over 30 years) if the trees are in power lines you can call the power company. They have to cut them/cut them down or at least trim it back…for free. FYI incase you have this come up again. 😃😃😃 0:01

    • @cynthiafisher9907
      @cynthiafisher9907 11 місяців тому

      I don’t think our company will do that on private property. We had a power pole moved and we had to have it done and paid for ourselves.

    • @wendidawnmoore9844
      @wendidawnmoore9844 11 місяців тому

      @@cynthiafisher9907 that’s a little different. We have to do the same if we want the pole moved. Both my boys are lineman and my husband worked for one of our local electric company’s for 27 years. He said that if you have overhang from the trees that are going into the power line, they are typically obligated to fix it by by trimming the trees or (if needed) cut down the tree.
      My husband has to get permission from the property owner to cut the trees I their yard. In saying that, every company is different. Doesn’t hurt to ask for sure.
      One company (my husband also used to work for and I knew the foreman who was going to trim the tree) wanted permission to get into my back yard and trim the tree. I told him no. He wanted to trim it because the tree limbs were in the power lines causing the lines to burn.
      But if we request the poles to be moved or add street lights to our poles, we have to pay for that…..unless the pole is rotten. 😃❤️

    We had a tree that needed to come down - thankful to have friends who liked to help with those projects. One climbed WAY up the tree to fasten a couple heavy ropes - yes, climbed just like a squirrel, no ladder. With one rope fastened to the winch on the truck, and a strong man pulling on the other rope, the man sawing got part-way through the trunk, when all of a sudden it simply shattered and came down - fortunately, exactly where they wanted it to land. The whole trunk was rotted. You never know what you're going to run into with cutting mature trees. All I could think of was that agile young man way up in the top of a rotted tree! There is a God!

Was amazing, and 4k for 3 trees. Had to have a crane because of how high tree was, it was 8 ft diameter and rotten inside..some points only 1 -2 inthick.

    Hire professionals- with a boom lift. And let him take the lead (when he worked with my dad-they had a rotten tree hanging over the house)-he actually did not want any extra people around
    they will take chunks and lower it piece or piece. Dad watched from the shop window to make sure there wasn’t a disaster. Once the man got it away from the house he let dad unhook(on the ground) the cables -so it was helpful to have 1 person for that.

    Hi Tom. Down here in our County of Georgia, we can call the Electric Co-op company, and they will come out and take down any trees on your property which threaten the electric line running from the street to the house, all free of charge. Anything which threatens electric lines, they will take care of very quickly.

    Did you ever consider taking the trees down before you repaired the shed? I watched a tree being taken down n my backyard and it was scary. They climbed up the tree and took down the limbs first.
