All the comments about Tom not mentioning the building also being for his daughters are hysterical. Everyone’s getting all bent out of shape about nothing. I think we all know by now that Tom is a fantastic dad, and will give shop time to which ever of his children wants it. Relax, everybody!
Thank you for this. I didn’t feel like answering all the other comments addressing this. 🤣🤦♂️ The girls don’t really care to work in the shop but obviously if they want to its there for them too. @@RustyJudgmentoh, so you did it for engagement . Gotcha. You left out your daughters so people would be disapproving and comment. We can expect more of that from you then. You could have so easily said, “And my daughters if they become interested,” but you chose not to.

Tom don’t forget that your beautiful daughters would probably enjoy some time with dad in the shop….maybe it will be in getting a older vehicle when they learn to drive and making it better with dad’s help! Or handing dad tools etc😊❤
The shop should be for you and your CHILDREN. Your daughters should be as welcome as your sons. They are ALL talented and industrious, and you and Dawn are teaching them the skills they need and want. I totally enjoy watching them grow and learn!

You may have a daughter also wanting to do a project in your big shop, lol-I was right in there avidly learning about tool use and running all kinds of machines as a girl, from a riding mower to a tractor to an earth mover.
I loved hanging out in the garage w/ my dad. Very fond memories. He was a mechanic (trained at Dunwoody), I think he enjoyed when I compared him to a doctor diagnosing the problem on my car. He only had an 8th grade education, growing up in rural western MN he was needed on the farm. ❤
The underfloor pipping is looking great. I am so excited for you that you will finally have your own shop. You have worked so hard this past couple of years Tom, so you really deserve this space to store your vehicles and tinker with all the different things relating to your projects.

I needed a valve changed on my drip system for my yard the guy said he'd be back on Thursday to fix it. That was three years ago, and I still haven't seen hide nor hair of the fellow, I think he isn't coming. LOL! I had the entire system replaced in the meantime because it was 20 years old, and it was time.
Your shop is going to be amazing! I remember years ago when we built our three car garage ourselves, I remember the work of the cement being dumped and then our family members quickly spreading it. We never thought of putting heated floors back then. Oh my, that would have been so nice. We live in Minnesota. So when you were talking about the weather and working in an unheated garage, oh yes. My neighbor has a heated graduate. I don't think the floor is heated but hes got a nice set up, he redoes antique cars. I have 3 sons that I know. My boys would be saying your shop would be their dream. I have a son for a few years. That was making fun barn style furniture. And he was telling me how awful it was during the winter. Because it was hard to keep it warm enough. I am so so excited for you Tom!!!❤ You deserve it, and you're creating an amazing legacy with your sons and all your family. But the waiting is the hard part. I just want to say what you do. The ability you have to do amazes me, you're one gifted man. I hope the cement comes soon and it goes better than you expect. We are cheering you on.
Your sons? Not all of your kids... From what I have seen, your daughters are pretty hands on and handy to... Encourage them to and you will soon have highly capable and independent young woman in the house. And Yes! it´s a great space and a huge shop. I would love to have a similar.
I know that all four of the kids are active and helping alot@@cindybutler1413 . But, he said that the shop is for him and the boys and that was what I reacted to. What kid is seen and not in the videos has nothing to do with who the shop is for, right.

I enjoyed the full explanation of all the benefits of the heated flooring. I didn’t know it was so helpful in a shop. Also, great long term plan with placing the car lift bases. Nothing you post is boring Tom!
The in-floor heating looks great! My prior house in Ohio had a whole house wood burner in the basement and the ducts were under the floors. The floors were warm and wonderful in the winter. I'm in Florida now so mostly use A/C.
I hope your shop will be for your daughters too! All the children and family. I was a tomboy growing up as the oldest child. I loved mowing grass and handing tools to my dad when working on the cars or another project. I learned a lot from my Dad and am so thankful i had all the time with him. My dad is no longer a live. I cherish those memories!❤🎉😊
Radiant heat Tom....radiant. We had it in our home. It was built in 1961. Most of the neighbors had forced air by the time we purchased. We bought the home in 1989. Ours was copper pipes on a grid of rebar and then cement over that. After the 3 breaks a;nd breaking up the concreat and finding the leak we had a furnace put in and central air. There was a huge air condition unit up high in our kitchen and that was for the whole house. That is a much better way with the vinal pipes.
It never gets this cold where I live. The “antifreeze “ we put in the engine is actually for overheating. I can’t imagine having to thaw a vehicle. We only get a few flakes of snow every 30 years 😂. But I can tell you about hail….. Hope the contractor shows up and that you get the floor done.
I definitely understand what you mean about contractors! my son has been building his house by himself for the most part, expect for projects like having his floor done downstairs. He had them pour epoxy flooring over his concrete floor and he had to have them come back at least twice! and after spending around 15-17K on the floor it still doesn't look like it should! so...word to the wise! I really enjoyed your explaining about the floor, we are wanting to something similar in our bathroom as far as having a heated floor! very informative! thanks for sharing! xoxo

At the risk of telling you something you already you know - there appears to be a narrow horizontal gap along the wall of the Shop above the porch roof - possibly where you were going to place a flashing between the roof of the porch and the wall of the shop.
