My husband and I have been to Ireland three times and have been to many of the places you have shown us. This video clip is especially meaningful to me in more ways than one. On our last trip to Ireland, we drove across Priest's Leap. It wasn't until I saw this video that I discovered that cars are not advised to take this route. We didn't know at the time. Along the way, we run into a sheep farmer pulling behind him a load of sheep. The road being very narrow, we barely were able to pass. The farmer got out and directed us far to the edge of the drop-off. That being the passenger side, I was terrified looking out the side window. We made it, and I have video of the entire trip across the pass. It is one of my highlights of that trip and all of the trips we have made. I am 76 years old and still have the spirit you instill in us through your videos. I still am looking for an adventure and would leave everything behind to do what you are doing. I have been going through a dark place right now myself--not due to sickness or death of anyone I love, just other things. I just started watching your videos. You are an inspiration to me and many others. Thanks for taking us along on all your journeys.

Hello you! 😉 Superb video Derek! Just love your talent. A mystical walk this one...literally. Ecclesiastes 9:5,6 came to my mind when you were at the graveyard. "For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten. Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they no longer have any share in what is done under the sun." When I first saw these verses, it was like a veil had been lifted from my eyes and my understanding became so clear, because I had been wrestling with troublesome thought based on falsehood. You seemed so much happier today Derek. I am glad you have conquered your dark episode and are aware of triggers and how to overcome them. Verse 10 of Ecclesiastes 9 goes on to give this advise "Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the Grave, where you are going." 😉

I have been especially been enjoying this journey of yours as you steadily approach my favorite part of Ireland and my new home: Kenmare and Southern Kerry. I am very much looking forward to your next video and sorry that I am away and will not have the opportunity to meet you as you pass through. Cheers Derek

So look forward to your daily video....its so uplifting...pure escapism but hugely informative at the same time. Would be great to see you get a TV series. Not sure you'd like to do it but I know it would make for great viewing and would be hugely popular

Great video Derek. You are very qi on this trip for sure. I think you're looking after yourself better on this trip because you are staying in lodgings instead of by yourself on the side of the road which I think has made all the difference to you. You are a social person so meeting and getting to know new people is very good for our mental health. So glad you're enjoying it as much as we're enjoying watching. 💚

Such deepy felt empathy for people you never knew, in that graveyard, exemplifies what make you a rarity among UA-camrs Derek. And such a pleasure to follow. I meant to do a bikepacking trip this summer that would have taken in Priest's Leap but it'll have to wait until next year now. Looks like I'll need to find a low gear! 😅

I really appreciate this comment James and happy to hear you are enjoying the videos. Parts of priests leap are very steep…I didn’t even know it was the highest pass in Munster until halfway up the climb when I stopped and took out my phone to Google it 😂😂
