Regarding your final comment, while nations have borders, no nation stands alone. Shared borders are a shared responsibility. We are very lucky to have Canada as a partner, ally and neighbor. Great video with a refreshing dose of integrity. As you pointed out, a 5 round group is all 5 rounds. You held firm in that and I applaud you
You can have 5 rifles of the same make and model, with the same scope, shooting the same ammo from the same lot number and get different results. My CZ 452 prefers the SK Rifle Match. It shoots one very tiny 5-shot hole at 50 yards. After our last match, I've started weighing my ammo for our Smallbore F-class events.
I've done comprehensive testing too and I agree with Peter Kolovos comment that there's something magical about SK Rifle Match. To me its the most consistently good SK. R50 requires lot testing, but when I get a good one it's really, really good.
How to tighten up that MOA: I have shot SK 22lr for 5 years (currently SK Long Range) with consistent sub MOA results. I have shot Lapua Center X also with the same results as with the SK. The ONLY way that I have improved upon the MOA of the aforementioned brands is by using a Neil Waltz 22lr resizing die. The tool ensures a consistent 0.225 in. diameter driving ring for 360 degrees. I relate the positive effect of the die to a good rile crown; a damaged crown will open up the MOA. An uneven driving ring will accomplish the same effect as a damaged crown. I shoot consistent 100 yd. sub -MOA's.
Very good info on sorting. I started doing that for all my 22LR ammo and it made a big difference on my accuracy. I started getting much better results from my little Savage 64 and Mk II
Top information. A short while ago I bought a 1965 vintage Anschutz Match 54, for long range competitions up to 500yds. (not serious for me, just for fun, as my main shooting comps are fullbore). I have been testing different types of ammo. Recently I tried a series of RWS Products i.e. RWS Club, RWS Target Rifle and RWS Target match (all sub-sonic). They were tested over 50m in still conditions with the rifle, rested. So far, I have found that, RWS Target Rifle, suits the Anschutz really well, and is on a par with your results for Midas + though a little less consistently. I will have to try the Lapua series as a result of your testing on the CZ as it may well produce a tighter and more consistent group, over longer ranges.
Thanks, I found all this information helpful. I going to be spending a few dollars this week and needed to know what I should try. I’m no a precision shooter like yourself but I just want to try. I recently purchased a 457 and itching to get to the range.
Last week : Sako Quad rifle with SK Standard good batch, 15mm group (outside measurment) for 10 shots !!! Your CZ is able to do the same, when you'll find the right ammo
I think we do ourselves a disservice when evaluating ammo if we don't look at the AVG-FPS & ES & SD's for each of the 25 shots total. (25 shots on each target, look at them as a whole for better numbers.) If you throw out any of the shots, throw out the first Cold Barrel Shot of the day as they are higher velocity.
Nicely done. i used the SK Rifle Match ammo mostly. The new SK Flat Nose Match seems to be a tad more consistent, If I get a "flyer" its less of a gap in the group. its a few cents more per round so not too bad :)
Very informative, thanks,I've just run a test, and SK Rifle Match has been the best performer from my CZ452,but in Aust dollars is 30c a shot wheras Eley red is 68c a round, too rich for me.
Helpful information. I have a Savage Mk2 with a heavy barrel. I have been searching for something that shoots well. So far Federal Ultra Match is it. If I do my part it will shoot moa at 100 yards. I may have to get some of these to try out. I love 22LR and that CZ is something I would like to add to my collection. Along with a 10-22 build and a Buckmark or Mk4 or Model 41. Love me some 22.
Well.... The first part about 'Sports heros' really rings true for us! (it's not a Canadian view of 'heros') On the other hand, a 'Hero' does not #necessarily# wear body armour, but has armour in their soul... sometimes they jump in front of a truck to push a child out of harms way, or jump in a river to save a potential drowning victim, or... I've known too many soldiers, who fought in two wars, to think that there is 'glory' in warfare; sometimes heros, but glory, not so much...
Just bought a Bsa 12/15 Martini action circa 1950 shot Federal ammo and got same or better results Original Parker Hale no7 sight. Btw the gun cost £79. Sterling.
"One ragged hole" is what my friend Doug gets @ 50 yards from Aguila LRN 1100 fps ammo in his CZ bull-barrel target rifle. You might want to sort & try it, if available to you.
Nice shooting, great analysis....can’t justify $57 per hundred, not in my hands...reduce from 2” to 1.5 groups?? Nice rifle, too how much do you have invested in it?
You'll notice that there really isn't much difference between ammunition lines when shooting inexpensive sporters outside, save yourself some money and buy cheap ammo. Or buy a Tikka or Anschutz.
Thanks a lot for this video. I recently started with benchrest and was thinking of buying a 455 as I cannot afford a Anschutz, and was wondering if I will be able to compete with them.
It used to be yes, recently Wolf lost the contract with Lapua/SK and is now made by Eley. Its easy to tell the difference between Laupa wolf and Eley wolf by packaging and headstamps
Yes some, sorry was waiting to get out and do a direct comparison before I responded. The Eley made Wolf Match Extra seems to shoot on par, or slightly better than SK Match (red box), or at least it does in my Savage Mk2 anyways. That being said I'v been having some issues with that gun accuracy wise lately, the action screws keep coming loose and/or stock (boyds "hard" wood stocks) warping in humidity/heat. I would say its at least worth buying some to test in your gun.
Thanks for sharing! My toughest question remains. When I put on my engineering hat I ask what tolerance or standard separates "premium" ammo, from standard other than price? . Regards
Your question is misplaced. You should put your "engineering hat" on and get on your phone to call the Ammunition Companies "Engineers" who would be happy to explain the differences to you... ;)
@@mikemagnum7987 I doubt they would be forthcoming. ( I was a manufacturing engineer in my youth.) If there is the difference of a standard as a business owner I would be quick to make it known. Marketing lesson: If I sell you an ashtray for $1 you bought an ashtray If I sell you one for $50 you tell your friends about it. (I also taught a quality class.) Challenge: Try a double-blind ammo test. (Have a buddy load the magazine.) I would not be quick to bet you will be able to identify the brand. Let me know how you make out. Cheers

I appreciate your comment on heros, your flag and our anthem.
Keep the ammo testing coming please. This was very informative eliminating most of the possible variables.
Great, comprehensive testing. Well worth watching!!
Thanks
It was worth watching. Thanks for the upload.
Record the lot number of the best performing ammo. The same lot will shoot the same. Sometimes changing lots will give differing accuracy.

I'm shooting SK Rifle Match and have used Fed 719 with similar results to you, paying 26c Aus for SK in Dec 2019,thanks for sharing.

Also, I have had very good performance & consistency with Federal Auto Match 325 box.
Looks like the Midas+ had the best main *Red* target, good as any of the other's various targets.
I really like you closing statement. Can you do a video on sorting ammo?
Good video friend at least your ammo choices were relevant, I might try SK rifle Match based on your findings! Thank you and Stephanie.
don't you need to adjust your tuner for the different brands of ammo ??
Good info. Curious where you got the BC info?
Thanks for the info! To bad to hear how much you guys up north pay for ammo.

Yes. The CZ 45X models are quality pieces.
Have you tried the Eley Tenex?
SK match is supposedly the same as Wolf Match Target. My CZ loves Wolf. Surprisingly, Aguila Pistol Match is even better and $36 s brick!
It used to be yes, recently Wolf lost the contract with Lapua/SK and is now made by Eley. Its easy to tell the difference between Laupa wolf and Eley wolf by packaging and headstamps

What tool are you using to measure rim thickness?
Hi. I used a raven eye rimfire thickness gauge with a dial indicator.
@@frankbutton7760 Frank, Thanks. I will look at that.
