The Internet moves so fast these days that it's hard to capture any kind of history. What this channel and people like Thorin do for the history of esports is immeasurable, and we're so grateful, as fans, for the hard work you do.

I remember that day clearly still. I'd woken up and was browsing the net as per my routine, I believe it was a Saturday or a Sunday as I didn't hjave work. I remember finding Reddit in an uproar and all about Doublelift, seeing all the comments about what had happened, seeing everyone on Twitter commenting on it and reading the official news story. I vividly collecting my thoughts after reading it all and just feeling how my inner dam broke. A person I don't know, but a player I've been watching closely and seen progressing for more than 5 years just had this happen to him, and all I could think was "what if it was me? what is he feeling right now? is there anything at all I can do?" And then it takes a single week and the dude comes back and smashes the finals. I'm a European and I will always cheer for Europe first and foremost, but Doublelift is in my mind, one of the most respectable people in the league scene and if anyone at all deserves an international win from NA, it's undoubtedly him.

EDIT: YES I KNOW HE RETIRED. THIS COMMENT WAS MADE IN EARLY 2019. YOU'RE NOT ORIGINAL, THIS HAS BEEN 90% OF MY NOTIFICATIONS SINCE THE NEWS BROKE.
you know what impresses me about doublelift the most?
    he's still going.
i've been watching him since season 2. i've quit the game and come back and he's still here, still winning. not through raw mechanical talent, like Faker (although he does have that), but because he plays intelligently. if you've ever watched him on stream, you'll see that he's consistently outplaying the enemy positionally, shows incredible map awareness, and has remarkable game sense. he fucks up, but he bounces back. he loses, but then he wins afterward. he *doesn't tilt.* as an older player myself who's come back to the game after six years away from it, i don't worry about my reflexes being worse than these twitchy solo queue kids on caffeine drips, because doublelift doesn't. he just outsmarts them. and for all the bluff and bluster, he never sinks to the level of insulting people for who they are, only their skill level. it's kind of everything i want to see in a streamer *and* in a professional player.
esports need veterans like him just to show that this isn't a game that's just for toxic kids.

NA LCS is all about Doublelift, but yet Doublelift is all about NA LCS. He learned the importance of playing as a team in CLG at season5, he bacame less selfish and great shotcaller in TSM at season6-7, he found the most stacked roster in TL at season8-9. The fact that there are 7 years of NA LCS and more than half of NA LCS history was created around him is kinda insane. We are all curious how will this legend end his story, and as a Doublelift fanboy, i hope someday he will finally find the ending as a World champion.

    • @Omar12521
      @Omar12521 5 років тому +17

"World champion" OMEGALUL I'm sry but
all players in NA will never be a World champion.
doublelift will be a World champion. if he joined a EU team
NA is just trash region in my opinion
and i feel bad for saying that cause im from na too and i love doublelift
but nah NA teams wont be a World champion.

I've never paid attention to doublelift outside of his trash talking and now his story has compelled me to say that I hope they win worlds this year. As a C9 fan I was upset when we lost Jensen because he was the anchor to our worlds run last year. With him and an incredible bot lane I hope they go all the way to cement doublelifts legacy on the game.

i cannont process my emotions in regards to his family situation. i've experienced very similar trauma in terms of intensity and i believe i share the same burning rage, passion and drive that he felt, and i want nothing more for this man to achieve great heights in his career and in making north america the top of the food chain in competitive play. Doublelift, do me proud.

I remember seeing DL and the whole LoL scene emerge in the 2010s. LoL came out when I was in highschool and in college I moved on, never to return to the game. I came across this video recently and I must say its very nice to see DLs career trajectory and the trajectory esports has taken, to which LoL strongly contributed. Much respect to DL and all the other streamers and players who I followed back in those days.

Doublelift is legit like NA Uzi. Almost same storyline, VERY similar playstyles, same level of dominance. And until recently, always chocking at critical points. 2018 marks the breakthrough of Uzi: winning LPL Spring, MSI, Rift Rivals, Asian Games, LPL Summer... but never S8 Worlds. 2015 marks Doublelift success. I wish we could see both players meet in real life and just discuss their own careers.

I remember watching him play on team curse, I think that was a long way back. He wasnt this trashtalk machine, he proved it mechanically. Now he is older and probably has slower reflex, I hope he is doing well I saw his post that he is joining the enemy tsm. Wow times have changed, he used to hate tsm. I still remember the days where the went to korea if im not wrong to play with korean pros. He was my favourite player, if yall didnt know and if I remember correctly his name is a magic trick.
