- This is not about the best camera. Nor my all time favorite. This is just the answer to a question I get all the time. "What if I could only pick one camera?"

Haaaaa the ending :D
Great vid as always! Who else browses eBay after watching Mattias' videos?! :D
Damian Brown There is nothing to see on eBay folks.. move along... ;)
Damian Brown me lol
Me me me .... but the prices are then multiplied by the MB factor. Ricoh GR 2 = €40 on ebay × the MB factor = €200. I love this video ... Who said Swedes don't have the best sense of humour in the world.
so true. trying to bid x100t, plz don't bid against me :)

If there was a comparison review of comparison reviews you'd win, comparatively speaking.
Comparatively, this comment has way too many comparisons in it
you made me buy a Ricoh GR, you monster. i love it! thank you. :)
Haha. Results were shocking. Can't wait for the "What if I had to pick only one FILM camera" episode.
Does Mattias even shoot film?
Dj Toman well yes if you watch his videos. Develops it too.
+1 for this. I'm curious!
How to import videos from your camera
Ricoh film camera maybe.
One of your best videos ever! :) Loved the ending.
The Post Color Blog I agree
You're saying this because you didn't see the Nokia Lumia review... The one was and still is the best review ever made, period.
Time to buy the god damn Ricoh.
Sodacake I’ve had one for over a year. Owned many different camera setups and this one is by far the best I have ever owned! You won’t go wrong with a Ricoh
the best digital camera I ever owned, youll love it
the longest camera i've ever owned.
I am getting myself one for Christmas :)
I love my Ricoh. Great camera and fantastic images.
I reach for my Ricoh more than any other camera I own. It’s so compact, can be operated with one hand, and takes amazing pictures. It’s a perfect camera, in my opinion.
That Ricoh GR II opened my eyes to a lot once I owned that. They do need a GR III to catch up with more tech, but thats one of the greatest street cams of all time.
Eric Rossi I love the Ricoh Gr too!
I love my GR 2 and everytime i think about purchasing a new camera, I still fall back to my GR. If only it can produce high quality shots in lowlight, i wouldnt even care about other cameras
Have you looked for a flash you can mount on the camera?
GRIII - 24MP, 28F2, same design. Take my money.
In December, I gave my Ricoh GRII to a friend who was just getting started in photography. It was a tough decision to do so. Three months later I missed my GRII so badly, I ordered a replacement. It arrived today and I’m charging the battery now. Can’t wait to shoot with it again!
heyy thanks for posting this literally a day after i bought my ricoh
The Ricoh GR is the camera that dethroned my Canon 7d with 16-35mm L glass. It is by far the best camera because it's great and its always with you, and it also has a superior IQ to my 7d and the images are fantastic
My girldfirend was looking a replacement for a GR 2 that she love (the old one released in 2009).. so it will be the GR2 (the new one).
the naming scheme on those things is so confusing... makes it impossible to search for the correct one on ebay
@@Kylemsguy yes. I thought someone was scanning me
Its been two years so I thought it was time for an update: ua-cam.com/video/2tuwjBGbOy0/v-deo.html
I just stumbled upon this video and I loved it. Looking forward to seeing the update!
Considering the age, the price, and the lack of popularity of that Sigma, I think it is actually the most impressive. I mean, its an old, cheap, compact Sigma! And yet look at how well it hangs with the more expensive, more popular, and newer cameras. I need to buy a Sigma at some point, just to try it out.
I don't enjoy 28mm focal length that much... so I have to get a hoodie with bigger pockets :D Used to have the Ricoh GR II, sold it for a X100T that I love. Fun video.
I saw the troll at the end coming but I'm okay with it
Bryce Dearden In all honesty.. the Ricoh won the main event and is the one I would choose if I for some reason had to.
The ending is just to make sure people get that reviews like this are always subjective. They are all good depending on what is important to the shooter.
All cameras are.
I saw it at the very beginning
Loved the ending! But most of all i love how personal your videos really are. Thanks so much. Rob
you had me Rolling on the floor with that ending , fantastic video as always Mattias
Hahahaahah ..... another 100 points for that lovely dog ..... thanks for the video.
Damn, I've got an early start tomorrow. But I can't say no to this notification!
I think the main lesson here is that it is difficult in 2017 to buy a BAD camera. There are just so many GOOD cameras that if you basically put their pictures up on a wall and through a dart while blindfolded you would end up with an excellent camera... or a broken window...
I knew this was gonna be - If I could only pick one camera, it would be these four :)
I've been studying which digital camera to buy for the last few months. As an engineer, I'm very meticulous about specs. This is the first review I've seen that moves away from specs and humanizes the camera to be more than just a tool for capturing light. It's completely changed my approach from the spread sheet I was building. Thank you!
So what did you get in the end? :)
I traded my Richo GRII with Fuji X70 because I got tired of the dust problem which plagued the previous generation of GR. I have to say, not a second go by that I don't miss the GRII. The image quality, the ease of use, the portability, the snap focus... all regrettably nullified by its archilles' heel.
Yes I also like the Fuji with better build and TILT SCREEN
The dust is a bummer. But I can live with it. Warranty covers it and after that it doesn't cost much more to clean than other cameras. They all get dust eventually.
The tilt screen is nice. But its a shame I cant agree with the build. Its mostly plastic.
I have to say, GRII's build quality is better. And I used the tilt/touch screen much less than I thought I would. Using tilt just slows down way too much. It makes shooting X70 more like a regular camera than a specialized Ninja. If one can live with the dust problem, then GRII has no real competition.
Ha ha the ending was awesome. Good comparison though it was very interesting. Thank you
Olympus tg5 great all-round. It's cold here in winter in Canada and in my experience it's perfect.
Love your reviews, always on point and always humorous and always refreshing! Thank you!
i've just switched from a ricoh gr (1) to fuji x100f. i used the ricoh for 5 years and absolutely loved it. the only problem was reliability. the lens barrel has stuck on me three times so far, expensive repairs meant i have ended up paying for a whole other camera in the years i've used it. looking around the net i don't see too many complaints about this issue though, so maybe i got a dud piece. it's on intermittent freeze now, with the camera sticking on startup with the lens barrel out, and i've sometimes spent up to an hour removing the battery, simultaneously pressing the shutter on start up etc. unreliable. so it's fuji from here on. i went for the x100f over the x70 mainly for the sensor. here's hoping lumping out the extra cash is worth it. any tips on addressing the ricoh problem would be much appreciated, i still love that camera!
Brilliant. You really made me laugh. You're the best
I love my fujifilm x70, sure it might not have the mojo “acros” film simulation but it’s my everyday pocket camera and family camera too... also good in urban landscape.
I giving it 150pt
The end had me laughing, well done! I love my GR, but I have to admit that Leica is a beautiful camera.
[logs onto ebay]
YT fed me this video again. Love the ending.! Crack me up… again!
My Ricoh was stolen, and there has been a void in my heart ever since :(
2020: Leic X1 has the best point and shoot lens EVER.
I'm considering getting one, only worried about the af especially in low light
I watched your x70 and GR comparison video many times before deciding on the GR. It's probably my most used camera since, so small & light, easy to use one handed, great IQ. I thought I might find the 28mm focal length limiting, but I love it!! Glad to see you still hold the GR in high regard :)
Freaking great ending hahaha. :P Thanks for the laughter!
You are a gem, of all the UA-cam camera reviewers you take the best pics by far.
Your rating system at the end is so hilarious! (but also on point, as it is a subjective test). You did make me consider the Ricoh, thanks!
Mattias the camera troll, i imagined you would pick all of them, in the end each camera performs extremely good. Great video, i had a good laugh at the end, keep up the great work!!
Lenys Vasquez In reality I didn't pick all of them. The extra points where just so the fanboys would back of ;)
Amazing. Subbed. Also, really nice music switch at the beginning. Your editing is outstanding.
LMAO exactly how I end up judging things when I try to take a linear-logical approach
Top 10 Anime Plot Twist: ...
Ricoh is the best camera I have ever owned, and I have owned (and own) many
I have been shooting for some years but never had a good compact camera for everyday use. After watching this video and tried some cameras, I went to buy a Leica X-E. It have been a month and I am so amazed by its color and the quality of the lens, not to mention its sublime build quality and controls.
For me it’s the Sony rx100. Any version but probably the II because it has a hot shoe . I think I would love the Ricoh
Thanks to Mattias I got a bmpcc a couple years back and a few months ago a GRii, now I don't have an interest in any of the new gear.
RX1 for me. I'm so in love with mine...
But I like the Ricoh as well. Especially the user interface is quite intuitive.
Brilliant ending and very entertaining !!
This video is a piece of art, I laughed a lot. Standing ovation for Matias.
Anyway I want a Ricoh now.
After watching your channel, I sold my Mirrorless and forget the RX100 series. Now I am focusing on the APS-C point and shoot cameras. My next target is leica x1 or x2 since 28mm seems too wide for me.
Hahaha... excellent final results! They are all great cameras in fairness... I'd love to pick up an X70 as a 'bring everywhere in my pocket' camera.
Love the ending! Thanks for putting the Ricoh GRII on my radar, I'm jumping ship from a Canon 1000D and checking out what else is out there.
Awesome video, i still use the X100 original the most, for travels and everyday captures. Small enough, put an Toshiba FlashAir wifi card and its up to date and to all social photo needs :)

I got tired of DSLR, so I changed it for x100 and then x70. Love the flip screen, but sometimes I miss the ND filter
I own an X70, pretty happy with it tho. Btw, very cool ending. We need such a sense of humor these days.
I have a leica x2 which i use more often than my dslr canon 70d
You have taken the lead for the best reviews i've seen in a long time. In an age of everyone wanting attention with snappier videos and quirks. What a lovely authentic way my man :) and thank you. Will be buying my first camera ever at 28 just to fulfil a hobby and my love for aesthetics. Fallen for the Ricoh, with having no idea of this brand 24 hours prior to this day. This day will be dedicated to RICOH GR II.
Prabal Panjabi The GR rocks! :)
Mattias Burling Would you recommend getting a used one or go all out and get brand new one? Also do you have any used portal recommendations, i am pretty sure i saw someone comment about visiting ebay post watching your videos :)
This video made me sub your channel! Also super excited because i'm getting my Ricoh GR II tomorrow! 😊😊😊
you doing a gryffindor on the ricoh. you sly fox XD ~ i was thinking you'd take the leica and go home with it haha
Leica should get 10 points for rhyming with "I like-ah." haha!
Haaahahaaa! 🎶🎵🥳🥳🥳
OMG, lolz! the ending! Fabulous. I was cheering for x70
lol fuckin trolled!
the x70 really force me out of my confor zone, im better thanks to her now
That was hilarious, especially the ending. Thanks !!!
Any more update version for 2018 ? Are u still loving all theses cameras
Andy lee no update. Would still pick the GRii if I could only have one.
I love what you did in the end. Just choose the one most comfortable to use
I was thinking about picking up a used Sony rx100. I heard it was good for low light conditions and the one inch sensor was decent. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Ricoh is the best; I rarely use zoom but wonder if they could squeeze a 3 to 4 zoom into it since they have a protruding lens but in same dimensions? Best camera for sure would like a larger sensor 35mm film size but...
I am a pro (veteran) and the GR is the camera I use for personal work. Wins on all fronts (size, adaptability, features, build, output). Make it 36+mp please!! My work cameras are D850 & D4s
Fantastic video it did make me laugh. The serious point is for me is that you don’t have to spend a kings ransom to buy a decent camera. I think P&S cameras have been undercut by camera phones but all 4 proves there is a place and market for small quality cameras.
Sony NEX-7 with Zeiss Planar 1.8/32, long in the tooth, deep in my pocket. And I can shoot all my families’ inherited Rollei Zeiss and Schneider from the SL35 Days!!! Just something about Manual Focus on the old vintage lenses.
Haha cool video
LMAO got trolled. Got me laughing out loud at the end. Another good video. Thanks!
you rock! :)
Dear Mattias, I would like to buy a camera . Mainly I shoot landscape, nature and I love black and white photography too. What camera you would recommend ? Appreciate you advice, thank you !!
this is what I call an "happy ending" :D
@Mattias Burling ricoh grii or xf10? It's hard to find used gr ii in my country, so if i want one I have to buy brand new and it's $500. While I can easily find used xf10 just for under $250. I just want pocketable camera with decent IQ for family, for more serious stuff I use my XT2.
Brilliantly done Matthias. Enjoyed this a great deal.
It would bei really hard for me to reduce to one camera, because each of my cams excells in another field. If I had to, I would sell all my stuff and get a Leica M10.
Nice ending. I'm going to have to give one of those Ricoh GRs a try one day. It is one of the few cameras (maybe the only camera) one reads about that seems universally liked. Anyway, cool video.
hahaha. that ending!
great video!
I chose Ricoh and love it! Great video!
If I had to choose one camera to cover all my needs it would be Nikon D750
Brilliant, brilliant conclusion!
Hey mattias ! Could you do another phone review please?
I'm still in Sony rx100 iii era! Wondering if Fujifilm x70 faster Focusing than Sony rx100iii....?
Great video. On my second Ricoh gr2 after many different cameras. Superb for my needs. If a new one came out with a pop up digital finder, I'd buy it.
i hoped that Ricoh will make an interchangeable lenses camera with leaf shutter.. really2 hoping it..
Haha i dont know if I hate you or love you for what you did there at the end lol
Leica X1!
Awesome comparison Mattias...It is obvious that you were bought out by the four manufactures ;-)
Really appreciate your take on equipment and the strengths/weakness every camera has.
I've taken many thousands of street photos with the first APS-C Ricoh GR. Man, what a camera. I wish there were a GR-III right now. Though I do wish I could get it in a 35mm equiv focal length. Talk about a ninja camera! My two major misgivings with it are 1. the design makes it easy for dust to get onto the sensor (but not back out) and 2. high ISO performancy is really, really poor. Ricoh is way overdue on a GR III, and Fuji is behind the curve on the rumored X80. Which one of these companies will take my money? Likely the first to market with the next gen compact camera.
hahahahah! not biased at all!
zuhair zainal I love when reviewers say they are objective or non biased. Always cracks me up that they actually believe it.
Have not seen the Video yet. But its easy. The small Black beast named Ricoh😀
Sir, im going to buy a fujifilm x70 do you think i’m gonna regret buying it? Help me please please please
I have only just found your channel, now i have all your videos playing in the background 😅
Will there ever be a Ricoh GRII successor?
With some minor improvements, it could be THE camera is was looking for (to me it's the closest thing to the things I like about something like a Ricoh GR1v, with the ease of the modern digital era opposed to shooting film).
Possibly. It is a good seller. Expect the 24MP sensor from the K-3II/KP in the GRIII next year I would guess.
Well, it's anybody's guess.
All I know is... it was on sale during Black Friday... and I found it too hard to resist. Just gotta get some sort of additional lens cap now.
rumors say its coming out in Photokina this year
In a few months.
It’s out. iii
5 years on I still love the x1 just wish it had. View finder it would make it far more useable
