Great picks and even better explanation why! Loved it. Also, agree there are so many exceptions to each region. Cheers!

Brilliant picks in Highlands, Lowlands, Islands, hell yeah on the Islay, but I have not tried your Speyside pick, I'll hopefully try it one day, unfortunately can't connect with your Campbeltown pick, I only enjoy the 16. Great video Tim, cheers!

Thanks! (appreciate your discretion in this comment ...) That Speyside bottle is a step up from its younger sibling. Cheers!

    Islay: Laphroaig Lore
    Islands: Talisker 18
    Campeltown: Springbank 15
Coastal main land: Oban Distiller's Edition
Lowlands: hm, can I borrow Glengoyne 18 from the southern Highlands?
    Highlands: Balblair 15
    Speyside: Balvenie 16 French Oak

Just wondering: would a Hazelburn do for the Campbeltown exception?
I've been a bit cruel in the past serving the unpeated Stitchell Reserve from Caol Ila for Islay (like quite a fruity Speyside) and heavily-peated Old Ballantruan from Tomintoul for Speyside (I once described it as "Ardbeg-on-Spey"!).

It's a solid candidate. Despite the triple distillation and no peat, it's still pretty earthy.

For that exception for Campbeltown I'm going with the Glen Scotia Victoriana. It's so over the top sherry forward which you just don't see from any other core range Campbeltown bottles. Many use sherry but it doesn't dominate the distillate like it does in this one does. The Victoriana is the Campbeltown version of a GlenAllachie release.

Give you a Lowland to sample and it's cheap. Kirkland nas Lowland. 26.97. Bought it on a lark. Dark chocolate and cherries, reminds me of Edradour not in taste but construction. When you consider what you spend on a blend this is a no brainer if you can find it.
