I've been wanting to pick up a bottle of anCnoc 18 for a while now. I may have to pick one up now before they go flying off the shelves lol. BTW, if the Bruichladdich were peated, it'd be called Port Charlotte.
Considering a 25 year blind you say? Wish I could join! Some of the 25's I have include The Glenlivet 25 Sample room, Aberfeldy 25 "125 Year celebration Sherry Cask Finish", Balvenie 25, Glenfarclas 25, The Dalmore 25, Arran 25, And if you average my Glenfiddich 26 with the Ancnoc 24 you have another couple 25's between the two. They definitely belong in that lineup!
@@theftprevention It's definitely a superb dram for the price! I've got the Glendronach 21 Parliament and a Glendronach 28 year cask bottling of the Sherry Puncheon bottled at 52.5% ABV, one of 664 bottles in the world. It's to die for!
whoa! D to the Lon got a bagel in this blind? Pretty remarkable. Dutch got the A grade, pretty impressive for sure. Its so ironic that most of the bottles were his.😂
The Bruichladdich Local Barley releases I have dont seem to have peat when had alone but as soon as I threw them in a "non-peated" blind, what did I taste? Friggin peat on the finish with those spent embers that hang about way in the background. So I would not be surprised the Laddie 18 has some of that quality that they picked up on when had side by side with other whiskys.
@@CuriosityPublicI have a few Bruichladdich Local Barleys that, when had on their own dont exhibit any noticeable peat. BUT, when placed into a non-peated blind, there is a residual ashy, old campfire note that absolutely shows up on the finish. So not surprising the Laddie 18 has those traits when had against other whiskys.
Is Bruichladdich 18 peated like Dutch was saying? I heard it was the 18 year version of the Classic Laddie which is non-peated. I thought the Port Charolette 18 was their peated 18 year old.
i own that bottle, and I can confirm it's NOT peated. it's the 18yr aged of the classic laddie as you mentioned. if it was peated, it would be a part of the port charlotte line.
Hey Guys, great video and nice to see a threeway tie (or was it lol). Next time this should occur just strike the lowest score per whisk(e)y, then the Aberlour would have won it with a first and second place and a three way tie (2-2,1-3,1-3) for second and the bruichladdich last. ORRRRR, when tied the "cheapest" bottle wins ?
With some misconception, luck and whatever else my favourite 18yo (AnCnoc) won. It is just not trying to impress. It simply is tasty, enjoyable, cheap and fruity (not to extremes) and barley sweet good dram.
What bothers me is keeping any of the bottles in their tin/box/sleeve... you can just toss the Bruichladdich sleeve once you open the bottle, same as the Aberlour tin, the Arran tin, and the Glen Scotia box. Then *none* of them will bother you - and obviously the whisky will be fine, the one bottle that doesn't come with superfluous packaging won the flight. 😅
I see that everyone is a critic in the comments.. I love these kind of videos, no matter the mixup.. :D Shit happens :D Love the fact that the 2 most expensive by far ( in sweden ) came last. Actually thought the bruichladdich would win after all good things i heard. Then new bottles get hyped.. Blinds are true
I recently picked up a Ancnoc 18 in Alberta on sale for $124 CDN, was surprised as to how dark (sherry influence) it is compared to previous releases, same as the 24.
Cohiba Dillion now needs to do a at least 30 day dry out and give his palate a rest and his liver. He has put on some weight and looks a little booze battered. Alcohol is not good for the body.
I love these guys but they try to get so fancy with it and it’s not good… it’s literally just Arran like the name “Erin” or “Aaron”. Maybe with a slight “Ah” but not whatever they were doing, their research is always spot on but this episode missed. Saying Bruichladdich is peated too
I much respect your previous videos/content but this one - you guys are way off the mark on ranking and pronunciation. 😂😂😂 hilariously funny and baseless at the same time.
@@jasonmay6565 FFS. That is absolutely NOT how you pronounce it. "ERIN or "AARON" is utterly wrong. The locals pronounce it "Ah-rran". ie Scottish gaelic. Dutch calling Bruichladdich as peated is wrong though.
@@rangeradams I’m sorry to bust your bubble but the master distiller from Arran even acknowledges that pronunciation is ‘Aaron/erin’ otherwise he would have corrected everyone when he received the online whisky award.
Awesome video guys! Love the concept. Can' go wrong with anything in that lineup. 🥃
Thanks - cheers!

You had nme at "Best 18!" I love Part I -- there's always the possibility of finding a brilliant dram around the 18yo IMHO. Well done guys!
Haven't had those 18s but favorite so far is the Bunnahabhain 18.
CHEERS!!
Give the Glendronach 18 Allardice a try if you can get your hands on a bottle. It will not disappoint!
@@Zmann86 GlenDronach Allardice isn't just my favorite 18-year, it's my favorite scotch, period. It's wonderful

Bruichladdich 18 is very much unpeated… I’m very curious how you all picked that one out as the Bruichladdich because “obviously it’s the peated one”?

Yeah not sure what they’re talking about. No peat in Bruichladdich 18🙄
AnCnoc was my favorite of the distilleries I toured in Scotland.
Great video fellas. Keep it up please
When you said peated and funk, i thought that it would be the scotia. Think bruichladdich is unpeated
Yeah - I realize that now. I think it was the briny aspect making me think of peat.

Knew there had to be a tie coming one day. Great stuff as usual!
Really enjoyed my ancnoc 18. It didn’t win of the blinds I put it through, but I did drink the bottle relatively fast. Great sipper at $150.

yeah - I think we were just picking up the briny aspect

you have to go back and redo the top three in a blind to settle it
Yes - that is a good idea!

Can't wait for the part 3.. (the top 3 of today and Glenlivet 18y..the champion of part1.. love this blind tastings...keep up the good work..

didnt see the video i would bet on Arran number 1 , now lets see
All three of you say Arran and anCnoc very strangely 😅
True. Very peculiar pronunciation.
where is the new Port Charlotte 18 ? Cohiba Dillion should have bought a few of them at $180 each

It's a wonderful and underrated whiskey! 46% ABV natural color and non chill filtered! Just what the doctor ordered.
It’s pronounced air-un guys. And it’s the best whiskey you had there. AnCnoc is very good as well.

Stop calling Arran, "ERIN" or "AARON". That is an idiotic American pronunciation. I see this in other UA-cam channels too. It's AH-RRAN.
