- I've got a fun challenge today, folks. I've been asked to pick a great whisky from each of the scotch regions. I tried to find bottles that would be widely available and affordable. I hope you enjoy. Cheers!

You did Phil dirty😂
😂. Maybe I need to return the roast
@@FirstPhilWhisky please make this a thing.
I woke up my sleeping pets laughing at this. My first thought-“what happened to Phil??”
Should I return the roast with a Gwhisky distrack song?
But seriously, great picks and that was funny as hell 🤣
@@FirstPhilWhisky Oh hell yeah, whisky tube needs an Oceana rivalry. Where's @McIntyresMalts Wade? We need a three way rivalry to see whose accent is the worst. I'm abstaining because my name might bear similarities to a certain Canadian who over pronounces every French term he can (you can definitely use that).
I'm only stoking the flames because I'm a follower of all three accounts and I love you all for your unique qualities (but there's a reason some of you have less subscribers). There's another feebee! Oh God, I can't wait for this!
Cheers!!
"Southern Australia" - lol😂😂😂😂😂😂
Kilchoman has taken over Islay. They destroyed Lagavulin.
Lagavulin all the way! Cheers!
You will never stop the slap Cheers for the Karl Urban compliment & great picks.
You should call spoiler alert😂
I thought you looked different, but just assumed it was just you without glasses 🕶️. Same arms, though.
Who's Karl Urban? Searched Jeff Whisky that was the first picture. 😉🥃
This right here is why GWhisky has become my favorite whisky channel.
He’s unusual
Dude you have a knack of challenging me at the most inconvenient times 😂 You caught me away from my usual set up and at holiday with my family yet AGAIN! but hey I rose up last year and by God I will rise up this year! Challenge accepted!
Hah well there's no rush man. It's not like you need to crank a video out right away. We can all patiently wait for you to get back. 😉🥃
@@Gwhisky Don't you know the WhiskyTube is like a junkie waiting to devour the latest content, it waits for no man! Wait for Friday 😃
"Southern Australia" 😂 Shots fired my man. Commonwealth on Commonwealth violence right there haha. Great list man 🥃
Great video and humour Geoff! I knew you would pick Talisker. By the way, I understand Phil perfectly without subtitles and I'm pretty sure Karl Urban would too. 😂
I'm only a few minutes in and I'm just laughing...this is good stuff
If we accept Islands as a region (and I think we should) then Oban and Ardnamurchan have to both be classed as island whiskies for me. Apart the the screamingly obvious issue with that position 😂, both the character and location of those whiskies puts them firmly in the island region with the rest of the actual island whiskies
Totally agree. Coastal salty maritime. They belong on the islands! 😉
I'm sure I've done lists for this before (even including unpeated Islay and peated Speyside, just to be awkward!), but my single malt open bottle count makes it difficult:
Highland - 146 bottles
Speyside - 129 bottles
Lowland - 37 bottles
Island - 36 bottles
Campbeltown - 13 bottles
Islay - 45 bottles
I also have bottles from 34 other countries besides Scotland... but not (yet) Papua New Guinea!
Gotta get your hands on that Papua stuff, man. 😉🥃
@@Gwhisky Well, I have now added Romania to the list of countries...
It's hard, but:
1. Lowlands: Kingsbarns Doocot
2. Highlands: Tomatin 14 Port Wood
3. Speyside: Craigellachie 13
4. Campbeltown: Springbank 10
5. Islands: Raasay Single Malt (Standard Core Range)
6. Islay: Ardbeg 10
Fun video, mate! 🙂
Great picks. Cheers! 🥃
Very strong post. Funny & solid whiskies! Keep rolling.
Thank you, sir! 🥃
Highlands- Deanston 18
Lowlands- Glencadam 15
Speyside- Glendronach 21
Islands - Arran 10
Islay- Laphroaig Lore
Cambelltown- Springbank 15
Yeah deanston 120
Glendronach 346
Lagavulin 9870
Great whiskies, but I'd say that Glencadam and Glendronach are both Highlanders. Not that it really matters, of course... 🙂
Good list, would have kilhoman over laph
@@duncs3850 which one?
Loch Gorm I reckon
I like the way you defined the challenge as available representatives of each region with the limited edition list at the end. Nicely done!
Thank you! 🥃
Lol, the piss taking in this video is almost more entertaining than the recommendations!
Hahaha solid jokes on this one brother 👌😂
As far as Hazelburn being easier to find than Springbank, I can say my experience has been the opposite here in Scotland. Springbank 10 does pop up now and again (albeit briefly before selling out) and I can get Longrow quite easily, but I've never encountered a bottle of Hazelburn 10 in the wild.
Odd. It's the opposite in my market, with Hazelburn usually sticking around on shelves longer. Longrow is the easiest to get here, too, though. 🥃
Excellent! Challenge accepted and mission accomplished
I like your rules/framework. That's the first step I've been considering... (Your list is great, of course). Cheers!
I like Bladnoch ,, Talisker , Hazelburn , Laga , Glen Scotia , Laphro , Kilkerran ....)))) Good job Geoff . Gaumarjos !
Good list, liking the fact that you went with something different. i was almost certain that some form of Arran/Lagg would make the list.
Thanks, buddy. Yeah the Lagg was a serious contender for island whiskies. Cheers! 🥃
Great job! I mean, Phil owned you on this one, buddy, but... yeah, great job! 😂😂😂
No need to reinvent the wheel here. If we're going with value and available, here's my list:
Highlands - Ardnamurchan CS
Speyside - Craigellachie 13
Lowlands - Dream to Dram
Islands - Ledaig 10
Islay - PC10
Campbelltown - Victoriana
BONUS LIST!!!!!! Woohoo!
Best Irish - Powers John’s Lane
Best bourbon - Old Forester 1920
Best Canadian - *pass* LOL
Best Japanese - Nikka Yoichi
Best Indian - Indri Trini 3 wood
Awesome picks! Cheers buddy! 🥃
Phil got done 😆. Brilliant content as always G
Lol cheers. 🥃
You were on top form for this one Geoff! 😂
Thanks for the great recommendations, (always too many whiskies, not enough space)…😉
The ultimate first world problem, eh? Cheers! 🥃
Great list. I was looking forward to you doing this after Phil challenged you.
Based off what I’ve tried:
Highland - Edradour 10
Speyside - Benromach 10 Imperial Proof
Lowland - Auchentoshan Three Wood
Campbeltown - Glen Scotia 15
Islay - Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2014
Island - Talisker 18
Keeping it real... Highland Park Cask Strength, Port Charlotte 10, Craigellchie 13, Glen Scotia 15 (because Springbank 12 CS really isn't an option any longer), and The Epicurean Glasgow Edition ✌️
That Kilkerran Sherry is really something special, absolutely delicious. There's a few left in my area and I'm extremely tempted to go over budget just to have a few on hand for the future.
Highlands: Deanston 12 (I know you're not a Deanston fan, what is wrong with you?😉)
Speyside: Craigellachie 13
Islands: Arran 10
Islay: Bunnahabhain 12 (preferably Cask Strength)
Campbeltown: Tough, as I don't like peat, so I'll go minimum peat with Glen Scotia 15 (it's ok. I have had a sample of Hazelburn and I swear it was slightly peated...maybe it just picks up that character from the Springbank atmosphere, or I'm just hypersensitive to peat)
Lowlands: I've only ever had one (Auchentoshin...I don't care if I misspell it) and I hated it. Therefore, I will cheat here - Since their warehouses are across the street in the Lowlands, I am going to count Glengoyne Cask Strength as a Lowland, with all apologies to their Highlandsness.
Thanks for another great video. Cheers!
I think First Phil speaks that Gaelic dialect which is ever so popular in Southern Australia 😂
Good video. Definitely agree with you about Glenglassaugh Sandend and Tamdhu 12. Tamdhu 12 reminds me of Macallan back in the 80’s and 90’s when Macallan still used good casks and was priced reasonably. The Sandend makes me excited to see what Rachel Barrie can do in the future as she bottles more or her own distillate. She got the Sandend right. Not a fan of Lagavulin or Talisker, but that’s because I’m not a peat fan. Haven’t tried Bladnoch or Hazelburn. As always, it is fun to watch your videos, whether I agree or disagree with your conclusions. Keep up the good work!
One of your funniest videos to date. So good 🤣
Lol thanks! 🥃
Again a good video, Geoff.
Good picks and variation.
Thanks, buddy! 🥃
Great humour.
I was searching for the new Papúa New Guinea whiskies.. I think I found some, but they are made from Molasses and not Barley… Hmm.😊. Another great video.
Some countries have a different definition of whisky than Scotland.
Great list! Super funny video 😆
I am also really enjoying Bladnoch 11. Definitely some excellent cheese funk in there. Cheers!
Hah thanks. Yeah that Bladnoch is definitely unique! 🥃
That's a fun challenge! I'd probably be a little different:
- Lowlands: Bladnoch 11
- Highlands: Clynelish 14
- Speyside: Benromach Organic
- Islay: Octomore X.1
- Islands: Ledaig 10
- Campeltown: Kilkerran 8CS
- Irish: Redbreast 12 CS
Great picks! 🥃
I enjoyed your Jeff/Geoff episode. - G’oph
😂😂😂
I have the kilkerran 8 sherry cask. What a fantastic whisky! Not like any other sherry bomb I've had before, very dirty and funky ha ha!
Agree! 🥃
Yeah…but..JEFFREY the Giraffe: NO indeed. Sandend is just so good and still reasonably priced; thanks (I think) for calling attention to it. Laphroaig 16 IS available in the USA; like it muchly as well as their Sherry cask expression. Thought you might go Ledaig for the Islands. Overall, as usual, great/helpful vid.
Bladnoch went in the completely opposite direction i had hoped.
A few years ago i had the 10 year old bottle and it was fantastic. Up there as one of my favorite 10's.
Since then they have decided to pump out dozens of non-age statement bottles with completely random prices (none of them good prices either). I cant see myslef buying another bottle, which is a shame.
My main library kind of follows the same format but with some cheating
Highlands nut: Deanston 12
Lowlands-style delicate floral: Glencadam 10, (and need to find Bladnoch or Kingbarn)
Islands-style salt: Ardnamurchan AD, or Highland Park 12, or Rasaay
Cambeltown-style funk: Craigellachie 13, or Glen Scotia 15
Islay smoke: Ardbeg 10
Speyside fruit: Glenallachie 12
Irish: Powers 12 (but need to try Teeling pot still)
Japanese: Nikka coffey malt
Indian: Amrut classic or Kamet classic
American: hard toss-up between Westland AO or Balcones lineage
Bourbon: Old Forester 1920
Rye: Pikesville 110p
Pupua New Guinea got me 😂
Great content, keep it up!
Thanks, will do! 🥃
Dude I'm not even sure where to begin.
This was probably your best video for the past few months. Great dynamic, timing, everything was perfect together! The list is as funky as you are my friend and totally makes sense hahaha
And the dogs with birds bodies just took it home at the end....😂
My list would probably be something like this:
Highland: Glencadam 10
Lowland: Kinsbarn Docoot
Speyside: Tamdhu 15
Islands: The Hearach
Isla: Port Charlotte 10 or Caol Ila 12
Campbeltown: Kilkerran 12
Thanks again for the great content!
Cheer Buddy 🥃🥃
is harris really doing that well? I wanted to check them out since they opened but never got around to it.
Reaaaaally gotta try that Hearach...
Cheers buddy! 🥃
Don't loop First Phil in with us South Australians, okay? We're better than that 😂
PNG being real silent since this video dropped.
Some great picks here Geoff! 🥃 cheers!
Thanks so much! Cheers! 🥃
Those biceps look pumped lad!
Don’t sleep on the Glenglassaugh Sandend. Terrible strain on your neck - not ergonomic at all!
😂
Another great video, thx Geoff. I thought you'd pick Port Charlotte from Islay at some point.
Sandend!!! Yes.
I absolutely love the humor in your videos. The straight face you keep as you say the funniest shite cracks me up each time.
Im curious: how many retakes do you need to do on average?
Greetings from the Netherlands!
Hah thanks. Appreciate the kind words. As for the retakes... I don't do many. Half the time I just decide to keep any blunders in. Cheers! 🥃
I'm surprised you didn't pick a Ledaig for your Islands selection.
Too funny as usual, thank you. Do a lot of folks here find whiskies online? I can find some sporadically in stores but wondered if its just my location and was curious. Guess I should get my backside over to Scotland more.
It would be interesting to hear what your view would be on the distinguishing characteristics of whisky from other regions of the whisky-verse and give them their own defined status/classification by reference to the Scottish categories. Example might be that Taiwanese whisky is similar to say xxx which is not unlike say Speyside.
Interesting concept. I'm not sure I have enough experience with world whiskies to make that kind of association but it'd be a fun concept to play with. Cheers Michael! 🥃
Looking along my shelf…
Highland: Glen Garioch 12
Speyside: Craigellachie 13
Lowland: Bladnoch 11
Campbeltown: Killkerran 12
Islay: Bunna 12
Island: Ledaig 10
Can't argue with any of those! 🥃
Nice challenge list. My little list is Arran 10 for islands, kilchoman Sanaig for Islay, kingsbarns docoot for lowlands, glenfarclas 15 for Speyside, glen Scotia double cask for cambletown and glencadam 10 for Highlands. It was fun watching your video. Thanks 🙏
Good picks. Cheers! 🥃
Love the choices!
Thank you! 🙏🥃
I'm new to your channel. I was actually taking notes here (serious student, serious Scotch drinker). I found your pacing through the regions uneven. But I'll be back.
Macleod’s Islay Single Malt.
great choices although i would pick prot charlotte 10 for islay. Same price for me in the uk and with a higher abv and age statement. Plus with bruichladdich its guaranteed non-chill filtered and natural colour. Still lag 8 a good 2nd
PC10 makes perfect sense! 🥃
I love, love, love Laphroaig16!!! With the exception of your Highland choice I loved your selections!! Fabulous! :-)
Hah thanks Christine. Not a Sandend fan? 🥃
@@Gwhisky Sorry Geoff! No. But I love everything else here!! 🙂
@@christinecamley Hah no need for the sorry. The world would be a boring place if everyone agreed about everything! 🥃
@@Gwhisky Lol! Awww thanks Geoff! I appreciate it!! Have a wonderful weekend!! 🙂
Excited to get my hands on Bladnoch 11!
Love from Mumbai India! ❤ 🥃
It's very unique stuff. Hope you enjoy! Cheers from Taiwan! 🥃
Jeff speaks perfect English, what do you mean? His different dialect?
Great choice. Could you do a review on Ballentine 15 single malt?
6 Diageo bottles…did you sell out 😂
Intro: 😂 .... 'nough said
Rest: ok choices (but not mine of course... and don't worry, I will not spoil this comment with that)
Slàinte mhath
😂😂😂
I would have whisky regions in Japan, I'd like to start that journey 😂
You did do phil dirty man, good god the buck teeth! Did you edit that pic yourself? I'm just curious.
Anywho, I can get Bladnoch 11 for about $65 here in Missouri. I'd say that is an affordable price. I ended up getting it thanks to your review on it, and I gotta say, one of the best bottles I've had.
It is about the same price with a lot of entry-level scotch at the stores in my area. I can only find that specific bottle and any other bottles from that brand at one local store chain, though.
Can't believe no PC10 😱
And we shall call you THE DIAGIO BOY! Just kidding. Just being bitter that you skipped kilkerran for any campbeltown picks. 😢
The Kilkerran 12 would have been my first choice, but Jeff already picked it. 😉🥃
@@Gwhisky haha they picked up all the good ones and left you with diagio. Just like everytime I go to a whisky shop 😂
@@mevech 😂😂😂

Highlands - Inchmurrin Aged 12 Years
Kudos. Good content. Great choices.
What impressed me is that you went through all the regions without once using the word "quintessential".
L8 is a waste of money. For $10 - 15 more the 16 is wayyyyyy better.
$30 more in my market, and they do very different things.
Papua New Guinea 😂😂😂😂
'Southern Australia'??? Absolute blasphemy!
First Phil photo is on point though..
Appreciate you choosing to remain a member after that joke. 😂😂😂
Are we on the brink of another beef to be resolved in a freestyle rap battle?😂
didn't like any of them so keep up the good work ;; ha ha , ;;
Phil speaks Roo-English, mate ! ---------------- "into nothingness", is THAT Buddishm thang-ee ?
I think the consumer needs to protect the industry from itself sometimes . First it was caramel , then chill filtered , now its non age statement.
Even if you find one that tastes good it should be boycotted at all costs . Why? Because the industry is run by suits in the city who don't give a stuff about the product . Higher turnover i.e. bigger profits.
A product the take 10 years or more before a return is made sells itself.
Welcome to the Club 💪👏👏👏🥂🙋♂️
The number one whiskey is Lagvalin 16
Highland: Glencadam 10, Speyside: Glenturret 12, Lowlands: 1770 Peated, Islands: Talisker 10, Campbeltown: Kilkerran 16, Islay Port Charlotte 10
