Its built to last forever and not give the buyer any issues. im seriously contemplating trading in my civic that's giving me a slew of issues for a corolla because I know it will never fail me.

Toyota's CVT has a physical 1st gear then "second gear" is one continuous gear, which is why it felt like it shifted, because it did. It's an interesting transmission.
You'll only find that on the SE and XSE versions. They call it the "launch gear". The SE version also has a manual available with Toyota's smart shift feature that really helps prevent people from bad shifts, etc.
I'm just wondering why it doesn't have low and 2nd like other auto's or am I getting older where they don't have that any more i just got a a cd player in the car last year from having a cassette stereo system in the car for years before it stop working

Unfortunately that's the MSRP while at the dealership, almost at any dealer in different states the price will be like an additional 1.5 or 2k more over the MSRP. That's the reality. I have my 2022 Corolla LE White-pearl since December 21 and I love it. Sometimes I get 41-45 Mpg on the Highway. 39-40 just easy every time at about 70-75 Mph, up to 45 Mpg only if I drive ~65 Mph which is enough in most cases.

@@nickpgr10 when I got my 2020 corolla LE, didn't buy extra stuff that came with it, you can skip those. The corolla is way better than accent and all the other ones. When you buy one, don't expect to be faster as it wasnt meant for that. The mpgs are good, on highway I got 38mpg easy. Since you buying for your daughter, the LE that you guys have won't come with blind spot monitoring as it is an extra upgrade for you guys, however there is enough safety features in it that most competitors won't give you. The corolla is also better for financing because not too many things break past the warranty date. The LE trim is the perfect balance between the old school tech and new school tech. The only thing I added on mine was the aftermarket remote starter, thats about it for the cold winters

It has only a little more power, but the 2.0 engine has the CVT equipped with a standard first gear, so going from a stop isn't as harsh, and less of that torque wearing on the CVT.
The 2.0l is honestly the best option if you're just going for the gas models (there is also a hybrid version he didn't mention). The 2.0l has more power and even has the higher fuel economy. There really is no reason not to get the larger engine.
Ah, Younger. Now you're in my neck of the woods. I live just west of Hagerstown. Was actually looking into these some myself. Tho I'd probably go with an XSE hatchback with a manual. And good to know you can fit in the back. Im 6ft myself, and would occasionally have to haul around our teenage girls.
Just a heads up, the Corolla hatchback has 5 inches less rear legroom than the sedan. You're better off buying the Corolla SE sedan with a manual or an CVT model.
I’d like to get a Toyota Corolla to start with, since a Tesla is way too expensive to own right now. It would be fun to drive an electric car, but it’s better to just start with a gas car for now. I know a Toyota Corolla is a good car to have. It’s good on gas and can last forever.
This is listed as having quite a bit less rear legroom than the previous generation Corolla (2017/18/19)- with that gen having 41 inches, and this new gen having only 35 inches. Have you sat in the back seat of both generations- and if so, did it really feel tighter in the 2022, or is it honestly not a noticeable difference?
The current generation has decent rear legroom. It's just that the past generation has crazy huge amount of rear legroom. To put it into perspective, even the 2022 Camry only has 38 inches of legroom.

I checked out many cars in this class and Corolla gave more bang for the buck, the Kia Forte and the Hyundai Elantra had lower MSRP but out the door MUCH higher. I got the LE out the door for $21,183. I like the look of the car I'm taking off badging and blacking it out, car is black to start with, the only thing style-wise that irks me is the screen inside. 8" great functionality, but it just sticks up and out of the dash like it was a total afterthought. Maybe it's just me it just doesn't even look designed to be there just stuck on later. It obviously did not bother me enough not to get the car it just kinda makes me go wtf Toyota every so often, I'm sure I'll get used to it only have 500miles on car so far.

Don't want CVT TRANS. They are cost cutting measure manufacturers are putting in that cannot be fixed. Must replace whole new transmission. Cannot be repaired. Will cost THOSANDS of $$$$🤑 to replace. Not cost effective compared to gas mileage savings. They do get better gas mileage but I need a transmission that will last past warranty period and is fun to drive.

the 2.0 has about 30hp more but only 0.1sec faster 0-60 than the 1.8?
It also has the higher fuel economy oddly enough.

Keep in mind that the Corolla SE/XSE with the 2.0 liter engine is about 250 pounds heavier than the Corolla L/LE/XLE with the 1.8 liter engine.

Not in the USA. There is a L manual in Canada. In the USA, only the SE sedan and the SE & XSE hatchback have manual variants.

It will last past warranty, dont let CVT Reviews from Nissan fool you. Cvts have improved greatly and the driving is smooth actually.
