    Not a fun project. The challenge of rusty bolts means you likely are going to need new ball joints and swaybar linkages, as you destroy those bolts getting them off. Putting the new strut back into the hole in the hub is a bear. The hub with the rotor and caliper attached is VERY heavy and hard to maneuver. The little wedge tool creates minimal clearance for the bottom of the strut to insert, and you will fight to get it in-- and it pops off as you have you hands full. Get a chisel punch to use as a wedge instead, and knock that into the crevice where the bolt goes.

    Are the axle bolts single use or should they be replaced? as they are torque to yield in the oem repair guides

    What is the purpose of the copper grease?

    • @autodocuk
      @autodocuk  2 роки тому

      Hi! The main functions of copper lubricants are: simplifies the assembly of threaded connections (greases maintain a constant tightening torque), protects metal parts from corrosion (greases repel water well and “preserve” surfaces)

    Those spreader tools did not work for me. Got a car in bits while I wait for a new one to arrive. The new shocks are going to be slightly wider due to the fact they haven’t been pinched down and had paint worn off.
    This job ended up being a lot harder than UA-cam videos highlight

      The replacement procedure may differ, you can familiarize yourself with all routine replacements directly in the technical documentation for your car or use the help of a car maintenance service.
