Making stem cells with chemicals.

  • When people think of cellular reprogramming, converting a differentiated cell into a stem cell, they often refer to the overexpression of Yamanaka factors [Oct4, Klf4, Sox2 & c-Myc]. Rightly so. But what if i told you that stem cells could be induced with just chemicals. Well you would reply "show me the data". So, let's take a look at this recent Nature paper that showed how combinations of small molecules/chemicals converted human differentiated cells to stem cells.

There's a rumour that if you subscribe to my channel cellular reprogramming efficiency will increase.

lol - and who started that rumor?

Well, perhaps there's a way to reprogram my UA-cam account, using small code snippets to improve plasticity, allowing me to subscribe multiple times to your channel?
Joking aside, this is way cool. Imagine the possibility of counter-acting stem cell depletion.

The rumor is true! No sooner had I subscribed to your channel than my wife walked into my study, looks at me and says: "I never noticed but you are looking younger. What are you doing?" I replied: "It's a Sheekret!"

I wish I had your content when I was in conventional school. If this type of content is freely available, then university status quo may go extinct, finger's crossed

Great explanation on this subject Sheekey. I started thinking with all these ways of triggering regeneration you would think cells in humans and animals have a mechanism that does this automatically now. This question might have been answer perhaps on the subject of diet, exercise or sleep in some of your other videos but I thought I would ask anyway.

This is... groundbreaking. We are really enetering a new era. Give it at top 20 years and some few hundred million dollars and we'll see it in vivo working just fine and dandy.

Yay Cambridge! Go plasticity go! Although they did forget eye of newt and liquid frankenstinium in the potions. Please continue your rhetorical musings, Dr. Sheekey. I'm compiling them for the faithful and therein we shall find the *pattern* of divination.

They used such complicated combinations of chemicals. It made me wonder if they are trying to manually go through chemical processes that are normally done biologically, but in reverse order? I wonder how they came up with them?

Based on the panoply of substances used in pharmaceuticals and how few of them have known methods of action. I wouldn't be surprised if a similar approach of try anything and everything is the most fruitful.

Apologies for asking an off topic question. I imagine the answer would be yes, but I wanted to be sure to ask and not rest only on my assumptions : Does extended fasting clear senescent cells? Thanks for all you do!

To supplement, in early 2023, the new version of small molecules has successfully increased reprogramming efficiency by dozens of times. The highest reprogramming efficiency has now reached 30%! Moreover, the time has been shortened to 16 days, and serum has been removed, now only chemical small molecules are used. They have developed a reprogramming kit, and now reprogramming can be done in the simplest way.

there is a drug thats used before stem cells iv, a injection. that triggers stem cells from bone marrow before harvesting. i wounder when that will be sold in powder form. never heard anyone talk about it before

In vivo, would we really want to go all the way to pluripotent? That would be very risky, I would think. According to David Sinclair, et al, we only want an in vivo *partial* reprogramming to re-set the epigenetic program. So does this mean that anti-inflammatory supplements (like curcumin and/or senolytics) might aid in partial de-differentiation?

So using a load of complicated multi stage chemicals we get 2% conversion rate to some un-defined end point? - That's all I got from this video.

What shocked me is fact that your video is only one I found in UA-cam describing such breakthrough in human history. Regarding that there is no intrust on such fundamental and important issues means that western civilization must lose competition against China's civilization. Coming UA-cam i asa milions of stup videos ....
