    Honestly... I don't moisturize my locs at all. I went to all natural loc salon a few months ago and my loctician told me to stop putting products in my hair. She told me just eat healthy and drink my gallon water everyday and that will moisturize my hair on its own internally. Now everyone is different but I can attest that I've been drinking my water daily in my los are not dry! the only time I put anything in my hair is every 6 weeks after my wash I oil my scalp one time and that's it.

      I need to follow these rules Coz recently my locs have been itchy and flaky. So I did a ACV rinse to strip all the products and just use my natural shampoo n conditioner( instead of including the oils too) but I'm back to itchy again 😩
      I've had my locs for around 9yrs using same products but it's never been this itchy

      Same!!!! People think I’m crazy that I don’t spray and oil my hair while it’s healthy. My hair is tailbone length and it’s VERY moisturized and does not look dry at all.

      Thank you so much for sharing this!! It makes a lot of sense considering that our hair is an extension of our health on the insides! I’m definitely going to test this out and see how my babies react! 🥰

    I started my locs journey 2 months ago and for my moisturizer I use water and then use either tea tree oil or Jamaican black castor oil to seal the water in and my hair has grown and it works! and sometimes I do a rice water rinse

      How exciting!! Thank you for sharing!!

    • @juliaseazar
      @juliaseazar Рік тому

      I used to do that when I started until I noticed my hair was so scratchy strangers might have thought I had lice lol😭😭😭😭😭 rice water is no good even though your hair feels so silky after use and black castor oil is also dangerous (the mango and lime) because since they changed the formula it's not giving like it used to😭😭😭😭 I'd say sweet almond oil is the best best replacement!!
      And I don't know about you but I used to wash once a week at the start and yes my hair locked fast with that method but it all turned into scraggly ends 2 years later and I didn't keep any of it😢😢😢. Sorry for the paragraph but I really saw my 2020 self in that comment and I felt the need to tell you the tea😭😭😭😭
      Ooohh (edit lol): BEWARE OF ESSENTIAL OILZZZZ!!! They smell nice and make your hair feel sooo fresh but they can clash in between them and the other oils you use (thus f up your scalp ph) but they can also have an effect on your hormonal balance so really don't use more that 2 drops per bottle at a time and find the right oil for you (body, face and scalp)! I'd say minimalism really is the key here. You finally have a hairstyle which allows you to forget about your hair and I know how counterintuitive it is as a black woman but trust!!! Most of the work is done inside!!

    GREAT TIPS!! HAVE A QUESTION, IS IT SAFE TO TRIM YOUR LOCS? OR DOES THIS CAUSE THINNING? OTHER QUESTION, CAN YOU USE HENNA FOR COLOR OR IS IT HEALTHY? I READ, THAT IT ALSO CAUSE DRYNESS TO. I AM JUST 1.5 LOCKED SO FAR AND WILL LIKE TO ADD JUST A LITTLE COLOR, BUT I DO NOT WANT TO CAUSE ANYMORE DAMAGE TO MY HAIR. OUR HAIR IS NATURALLY DRY ALREADY AND WATER ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH. SORRY FOR ALL THE WRITTING, I KNOW THAT EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT HAIR. THANK YOU

      Depends on your hair. I used it when I was a loose natural and still use it now that I have locs. Just make sure you use a little bit since it goes a long way. To be safe, make sure it's whipped, which adds air and makes it not as heavy.
      It makes my locs super soft!!!! But again, everyone's hair is different, so proceed with caution.
