It's so true about what we say! Our words are so powerful. I tried my best in the beginning to speak life and light and love into my hair. Even if I wasn't feeling them. I called them my little plant babies because thats what they remind me of. lol I still speak love into my hair and myself. It really makes a difference. If you aren't feeling your locs in the beginning just fake it until you make it. You'll get there eventually. ❤️❤️

Your locs are dope, i rock with it, ive been freeforming for almost 3 yrs now and i agree everybody's locs are different and will grow and form differently, just be patient and be confident in the process

I'm almost a month in so I'm taking notes. So far I only use rose water and oil dassit... I love how easy it is. I tried using deionized water and it was a no. I'ma stick to rose water.

My wife commented how good my hair smells too.. the consistency I find a bit sticky so a little goes a long way and I like to add oils like jojoba on my scalp and hair. My hair loves all that natural stuff and yours def will too!! 😉❤

I just got my locs done last Friday❤ I see a lot of people put water in their hair too soon . My hair is 3b/c and I’m only letting my loctitian touch my hair for the first year.

Ooo that’s a tough one! It definitely took me a minute to embrace my natural edges! For a more “tamed/sleekesque look, I would suggest using water + leave in conditioner and oil!
I’ve also heard of people using natural aloe gel as an alternative to edge control!

What do y’all moisturize y’all hair with cuz my scalp been itchy lately even after washing my hair and oiling my scalp
This is a great question! Although I don't have the answer, maybe somebody in the comments will be able to help 🥺
Try moisturizing your scalp with peppermint, or spearmint oil. Works best for itchiness, and leaves a nice sensation on your scalp.

I am new to locs and have been going strong for 2 months now. I have a loctician who does my wash and retwist every month and she put them into a style. I started with two strand twist and growing out my undercut. So I have little coils on the side. I have the curly ends which she tucks in and I leave it this way until a week before my next retwist and fully wet them and flat twist them back down to keep them from being all over the place. I work in a pharmaceutical warehouse so I don't want that dust in my hair. Any advise on how to clean my scalp between washes. Also, when you first started your journey, did you have very dry scalp? I am starting to notice this now and I didnt have these issues as a loose natural.
How exciting! I love your routine! Ahh gotcha...I would suggest using diluted castile soap. 3 parts water: 1 part castile! It was the only soap that made my scalp feel cleansed when I was first starting out! I actually never experienced dry scalp buuuuut here are some of my favorite UA-camrs to watch on my personal channel that may be able to help!

Maybe your babies are too heavy for your parts! I would definitely talk to a loctician to prevent further thinning 🥺

Hmm I'm not quite sure what you mean 😅 Technically our new growth never locks and it's over time that we see the accumulation of shed hair that forms the loc. However, if you're meaning your locs around the perimeter are not forming, I would definitely suggest talking to a locitcian!
What I'm having trouble with is I just got locks but already (since day 6) I could tell that my scalp was dirty. It's itchy like crazy, and although I'm not using products on it, there's a ton of build up on my scalp. Also, my hair is beyond brittle without products in it. Now what confuses me is that I was told to not put anything on my scalp or hair, so as to not unravel the locks and to not have build up. I was also told to not wash my hair for at least 2 weeks. So, how can I treat my locked hair like I would my loose natural hair if I'm advised to not wash (as often as I usually do) and moisturize my hair (for at least 6 months)? Help!
whaaaaaa???? I'm so sorry that someone told you that information but, I would absolutely advise that you wash your hair and moisturize it as you see fit. This process is about allowing your hair space and room to naturally coil and curl as it would without detangling. Most people suggest not washing and/or conditioning because it softens our hair and thus "slows" the locking process. However, in order to have healthy hair, you must have a clean scalp so it's vital that you take care of your hair regardless of locking it or keeping it loose.

I wish I could video chat with you for a minute or two about my starter locks, I’m about 4 months in and I think something is extremely wrong, i dont want to cut them off, I would really just like advice on my situation as it is. I have fine hair, i believe it’s matting instead of budding, yet I’m aware that budding is matting just that mines are marring each other so early on. I’m confused and scared that I’m messing up by beginning process. Please help.
