Never get tired of seeing the floor with all the STGs it always hypes me up. Thanks for making these you’ve been on a tear lately. I have a few people now waiting for me to visit Japan and I can’t wait until it’s the right time to go. You can bet I’ll want to be stopping here.
All these new videos are great quality Jim. Almost feels like I’m watching a tv show about awesome places in Tokyo. More on camera time from you too! Sincerely loving them. You keep postin, we’ll keep watchin!
Great video! I have been to Akiba hundreds of time and have seen that arcade before but I always figured it was just crane games, so I never went inside. Next time I go I will check it out. Thanks for the upload!
Kinda bummed to not see any footage of the rhythm game cabinets or more of the 4th floor as that stuff is the most “Japan-exclusive” arcade gaming we don’t see here in the west but love these arcade tours and looking forward to more vids! Awesome t-shirt too!
Always love the arcade tours, and doubly so when it's one that's so focused on good games as opposed to claw machines and the like. While I own the PCBs for most of the heavy hitter shmups that I've wanted at this point, there's just something about the spectacle of seeing it all set up in a dimly lit arcade that never loses its appeal.
Great video Jim. I love Mikado but Taito Hey is still my favourite arcade in Tokyo I just hope they can survive until tourists are allowed to return I would love to visit one more time.
Slightly off topic, but you passed along great information here. When you started naming off other arcades I recognized those names, but not as arcades. I watch the IIDX Beatmaina tournament and didn't realize the teams were named/sponsored by the local arcades. Makes perfect sense, I just didn't put two and two together.
I was there, last May 19th and 20th of 2018 - 4 years ago before my Senior High graduation. However, only for "window arcade shopping" - it's called for only looking arcade cabinets (at any game), not for playing; similar to shopping in a supermarket or department store, but not buying anything else, just pure product viewings. Another reason why (for doing window arcade shopping) is due to no more 100 Yen coins in my pocket (limited budgeting), I just decided to stop playing from one of Sega's game centers, also in Akihabara. Unfortunately, due to time constraints (and due to 3 days only for country visit visa), I and my mom had to go somewhere else (like going to Ofuna area in Kanagawa Prefecture) in the early evening for resting, although it was the best experience to visit game centers in Japan. Maybe someday, I'll come back there for more (or somewhere in Japan), who knows?
HEY arcade was definitely my favourite arcade to visit during my Japan trips. The only thing that's lacking is there rhythm game section is a bit on the small side comparing to other arcades around
Hey is awesome. Would visit almost every night playing Super Space Fortress Macross or R-type. The Japanese who frequent this arcade are crazy good too. On a side note this arcade was featured in the anime Steins;Gate 0
I love the Taito arcade I can always spend the whole day there, always try to play Darius burst, initial D and way more. Looks like they added dividers since 2019.
10 yen super turbo on the third floor and playing my favorite shmups and the TGM series on the second floor was always a vibe... I legit can't wait til japan let's me in again
Love the 3 Floor Part. Glad to see games from the MvC series on that floor. What caught my attention on the top floor was that Battle Conductor game. Looked like a mix of the Gundam Versus series, J-Stars, and Anarchy Reigns/Max Anarchy.
I was always more a beat 'em up guy than fighting game fan. From what I saw on my 2019 visit and in Jim's videos since, those games seem to be hard to find these days.
Street Fighter The Movie for sure. It’s a bit of a rarity. Definitely not the best of the SF series but it’s still fun. I’m a big JCVD fan. Fighting games and beat ‘em ups and shmups are what pumps through my veins lol. Excellent video sir once again.
Arcade closures make me sad! How bad has it been? I have been looking to visit Tokyo post pandemic if we ever get there. Love the video but please make them longer! More footage of you playing would be just fine.
2:18 So I did notice the setup they have for Darius and I keep thinking we really don't have a lot of things going around on showcase style cabinets like you do with fighters. Do you think this would be a cool concept to try in the states, especially since EXA is a building brand? Might do it at home though.
wow man they've got a little of everything! any shmup you could want, racing games, fighting games (especially that SF The Movie game, I hear has quite a cult following lately a lot of fans of that one!!) even all those 'etc.' games definitely wouldn't know what to do with any of those!! but overall pretty sweet arcade! also love the DARIUS JAWS shirt I may have to cop me one if I can find a way to get a hold of it!!
Very cool video Jim I live here in south East Asia to but there no arcades like they have in Japan and I love fighting games I should go there sometime 👍🆒🤘
The lower floors always seem to be just crane games (the sign outside this one says "1F Crane Game"), so I assume they get enough traffic from teenage girls, little kids, etc. to make up for the lack of traffic to the floors with the retro arcade games.
Wow! it's like arcades just kept on going on in Japan. I am curious, is there a cover charge or do you drop a coin/token per play? how does it work nowadays and whats the price a pop?
Wow, not only did you play Street Fighter The Movie The Game, you even featured a music track as a background. Nice. It's a terrible game but I did get enough enjoyment out of the PlayStation version to have some nostalgia for it.
out of all the arcade closures during the last 2.5 years, I'm glad HEY is still going strong
Indeed, one of the former Sega arcades was announced to be closing today. It's a damn shame.
@@Taranchule which sega arcade is going?
@@Bazzickles Building 4, I believe. I'm not familiar enough with Akiba to know precisely which one that is.
@@Taranchule I'm surprised the one right by the station isn't gone as it's tiny in there. They probably get a ton of foot traffic

Yes! Now this is an arcade! I wish there was one like this where I live. I'd be there everyday, believe it!
I really wanna go here someday. Hope they open up the country soon

Your videos get me so hyped to visit Japan again! I’m definitely checking this arcade out
Great video Jim. I love Mikado but Taito Hey is still my favourite arcade in Tokyo I just hope they can survive until tourists are allowed to return I would love to visit one more time.
Can't beat another great arcade tour vid!

I was just in Tokyo this past week and I made it a point to go to HEY because of you, and it was so great. Thanks for the vid!

That second floor with the shoot-em-ups... 🥰

Loved all 3 floors! Thanks for sharing.
Darkstalkers anyday! Did also enjoy playing Kinnikuman when I was there.
I was delighted that they had Street Fighter the Movie lol it's bad in the most wonderful way.
@@MadPanicGaming It was certainly awesome to see, I'll make sure to try it out aswell. Can't say no to play as JCVD right?
Jaysus I'd love that place. Great track too, fave track from the Andro Dunos OST.
it's just something about fighting games i can't get enough of awesome video buddy

Best UA-cam channel on the interwebz!
Everything seems to be in really great shape
I love these videos at arcades!
I was always more a beat 'em up guy than fighting game fan. From what I saw on my 2019 visit and in Jim's videos since, those games seem to be hard to find these days.
keep doing these great videos !!! thank you
Agreed this new tourism gaming format is winning formula
On my first Japan trip I'll probably spend 90 percent of my time here and at Mikado in Takadanobaba, I just know it.
I would love to go to that arcade and to visit Japan and see you Jim it be a fun vacation and I most likely wouldn't want to come back to the states
Oh man I wanna go, play IDAS and WMMT literally all day
Sooo many shm'ups... A thing of beauty...
Me: "Is this heaven?"
Jim: "No, its Hirose Entertainment Yard."😏
Though, I can't imagine heaven being much different.

I of course would just move into the shoot em ups level 2 and never leave!

Man I wish I was in Japan. I haven't been to an Arcade eversince I was a kid.

Was that one of these old Earthworm Jim tracks in the beginning?! haven't heard that one in a while! :D
Well, some bad news today as GiGO Akihabara Building 4 (the one right outside the JR station) is closing in September 2022.
I came here for games but stayed for Jim’s sunglasses 😎
it's great to see karous in its original format, does it have a headphone jack? your music is great! excellent video
Did you end up at Star Kebab? Great video, miss it so much :( :)
great video bro👍👍
Street Fighter The Movie The Arcade Game was unexpected to be there. How popular was it overseas?
The question I have to ask, how are these places sustainable? They're always pretty much deserted lmao
The lower floors always seem to be just crane games (the sign outside this one says "1F Crane Game"), so I assume they get enough traffic from teenage girls, little kids, etc. to make up for the lack of traffic to the floors with the retro arcade games.
@@mooncaketin Ahhhh ok
Cool 😎 Shirt Jim !
8:32 Wish we could have that.
Great Video Jim! What shooter were you playing at the 3:36 mark of the video?
That was Crimzon Clover
If i live in Japan, i would always head for the shmup sections to spend my coins
I really want that shirt, I can't find it anywhere online
So many Egret II...im salivating ahah :Q____ Btw my Egret II Mini will suffice, i think, lol xD
The lack of tourism at the moment must be hurting the arcades.
Jim, I'm curious, was there any of the Melty Blood games or even P4AU there on the 3rd floor?
I don't know if it's still there but Round 1 is in Japan as well right!?
Did just see primal rage arcade game at 3.57 of the video
Well that Arcade does look like good money well spend there.
I thought that was a Jaws shirt at first
Does the arcade of G Darius?
Wow! it's like arcades just kept on going on in Japan. I am curious, is there a cover charge or do you drop a coin/token per play? how does it work nowadays and whats the price a pop?
Always been 100yen per play with exceptions for like strategy & gacha games like fgo.
What shmup was that at 03:55?
What is the music you used in this video?
Wow, not only did you play Street Fighter The Movie The Game, you even featured a music track as a background. Nice. It's a terrible game but I did get enough enjoyment out of the PlayStation version to have some nostalgia for it.
How long you reccomanded for me to stay in Japan I've never been but this is on my list I can just eat and live in there
I'd say at least two weeks
@@MadPanicGaming thanks
Me wanna go
In my opinion, best arcade in Tokyo
Do they have a Super Dragon Ball Heroes machine in there? I'm going to Tokyo this spring. And, can I turn that shit to English, lol
It sure is Jim. Amazing looking. 8^)
Anthony..
Question…. Does HEY still reek of tobacco smoke? It did when I was there in 2008
Lit
TOKYO以外のいなかではゲームセンターが日本では少なくなってしまい残念です。
And still endless masked faces everywhere ... sigh
great video ! by the way, do u know if japan is still open for foreigners ??
