Upon editing this video, I had the chance to revisit Ren’s ‘economics lesson set to a nursery rhyme.’ It’s an intriguing take, using a specific example to critique corporate practices.
However, it's important to remember that not all successful companies operate solely on greed. Many have genuinely innovated and created indispensable products that enhance our daily lives-from smartphones to vehicles to efficient healthcare systems. While profit can sometimes fuel greed, it also drives innovation and allows for continuous improvement of the products and services we rely on.
Thanks for watching, and let’s keep the conversation going!

      Hi again!
I loved what you said about local business support! I'm in Chicago burbs, and they're slowly taking the once quaintness of the downtown area and making it cookie cutter high rises. My favorite sandwich shop is yet ANOTHER Chase bank 🙄 & my buddy Freddy's coffee shop is now Starbucks. I'm not implying he was chased out if there in ANY way!😬
Some businesses weren't willing to sell on one strip, and there was a mysterious fire. I laugh that maybe I'm just old now? "I DON'T LIKE CHANGE!!" 🤣😂 That's not it at all, change is great, but this is SAME change, money grabbing scumbags change! It's such a damn shame!😉
A Chicago hot dog place opened RIGHT before Covid hit, I became fast friends with the owners & was "essential" at the time, so I'd throw $100 at them every time I went in, just hoping they stayed afloat! They not only made it thru the storm, they're rockin' it now! The owner started buying my cookies & cakepops to sell there, and now I work PT there as they need me. Lol we are QUITE the love story 😆
Sorry to be so long winded lol, just thought you'd like to know your words matter, on that support of your community! ❤️✌️

Greed has metastasized and has infected every level of our society. Capitalism is broken, it is no longer working efficiently, too much is getting to the top and not enough to the bottom. The solutions are not going to be easy or painless. We have to start realizing we all cannot have the same things in a world of finite resources, but we all should and can have a stable food supply, stable and affordable housing, affordable educational choices, and equal opportunity, maybe not equal results.

True but the initially iphones were built in Chinese factories with "questionable" ethics to reduce cost, which was not the decision of the innovator(s). I would suggest profit drives all decisions at the top of corporations, but not the individual creators within those companies and Ren's not talking about the innovators but those that made their money off the back of them. My two cents and yes I've worked in corporate culture my entire career so I'm 100% biased.

I laugh a little bit when every American/Canadian comments 'His gun safety is terrible' but that is exactly the point, a reckless finger on the trigger of a money game. Also a deactivated real gun and a very clever bullet switch out where the camera couldn't catch it. Watch the behind the scenes on your own time, super interesting.

Watch Samuel being interviewed by KonxHill! Day after video release. Shows all cinametography, choreography. Speaks about rain set up, Rens suit, the gun story and getting a 45 into the UK. They only had one shot for everything to go completely right! Notice the progression from #1 with practically no budget to almost a year later and 8 or so videos in between to #3 with the largest budget he’s ever had! Paying extras, better mics lighting, rigs for the rain, the space, the suit, the piano, all technicians and travel. He made a masterpiece quality of a video like a high end movie!!! Imagine what Ren could do with a real budget for a movie, documentary, Netflix special etc!?? With his mind and directing skills! He blows my mind. FYI I feel like he’s definitely talking about crony capitalism but how society today influences young minds to believe more is always better and how cutting corners just becomes part of the game. Means justify the ends. Also I feel the the bags in the heads are like actual money bags that are usually tied up with rope.
All wearing them, all wrapped in the game or being used. ❤

    Ren's solution:
    1) The people accepting they're part of the problem.
    2) Better parenting, not teaching children everything is about money or not to care for others.
    3) From Eden, the people should work together and put their energy into something more valuable and important; a utopia.

Only issue is a utopia is literally impossible until we have the technology to replicate matter into any form like in Star Trek. As long as there are haves and have nots, Utopia is a fantasy. Who will willingly do the grueling manual labor while others do cushier tasks? It's would be great if every human on earth could somehow come together and split all tasks evenly but we have free will and with free will means there will always be people who will refuse to contribute evenly. Maybe if we get to the point of AI and robotics doing EVERYTHING for us, then we could have a Utopia. But without greed and a money game we would most likely never advance to that level.

We're parasites in the Petri dish with cannibal mind

It's funny because after Hi Ren many thought ... how do you top that? Personally, I think this did. Not because he had a bigger budget or better equipment but because Hi Ren was his story, MG3 is our story. It's just a compelling reminder that while money matters it can't be the goal. If you chase money just for money you will never have enough. If you chase money to provide for your family, money is a tool. If you chase a career and you make a lot of money, the career is the goal, money is, again a byproduct. It also reminds us to be careful of the message we give to children. What we say vs. what they hear can change the course of their life. I've seen this video dozens of times now and it still works.

Oh, rain, rain, rain, rain...A storm, it comes our way
“Jimmy comes home out of the rain”
And those who rise through distorted lies...Poison in the veins
“soaking wet upon a wheelchair...Drinking again” ( alcohol is the poison in the veins)
But we like to point the blame, blame, blame, blame...It's easier to blame
“Here's the words of his father, it's such a damn shame”
But point the mirror at ourselves...We're all part of this old money game
“Then he presses on the trigger of a money game”

Eden was the culminating summation piece to the money game treaure hunt which was a week of puzzles designed to encourage the participants (anyone who wanted to join in) to work together as a community and as a hive mind to solve the puzzles and claim a monetary prize. This happened in the week running up to the release of Money Game 3. I feel it was intended to demonstrate the power of community and working together to find solutions and fulfil our potential as a human society. The message I take from all of this is that we need to re evaluate how we value things and each other, and money is not a good wau of doing this and keeping score. Good deeds and care for others would be a much better measure, plenty of examples in human history of the endurance and reverence of such a legacy

The real one is loaded with more bullets, then the camera moves away during which time, Ren and the assistant swap the real for the fake clip. The famous quote "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" sums up a lot of what goes on in this story as well as what goes on today imo. Ren composed all the music in this piece. (except for the very beginning of the piano piece which is from Grieg). There are 2 Behind the scene videos on this. A short version on Ren's channel and an extended version on The Wolf Johnson's channel who used to react to Ren's music a lot. Ren saw his reaction and saw his talent is photography as well as the kind of person he was. So Ren brought to the UK to film the BTS. This also won an award for Best Music Video (Ren) and Best Director (Ren and Sam). He had a vision and a budget.

Loved your reaction, your captivated face as the story went on is how I imagine myself and others looking too the first time we saw this. It’s truly a masterpiece in every way, and I’m happy they received the recognition for the music video at least, with 3 awards.
I wrote the following while watching your reaction so I’m aware of you tying everything together (MG 1,2 & 3 + Eden) but I’ll let my thoughts stay the way they were at the time of typing them out, also since as I mention below - commenting from the phone is a pain in the ass 😅
Ren said in his live stream following the MG3 premiere “I don’t have the solution, WE have the solution” which was the point of the money game treasure hunt and summarized in Eden.
You don’t have to have a solution to be able to critique something.
I do agree that it is irritating when someone whines about something without offering a solution but the ones whining often remove themselves from being part of what they whine about so it usually comes off with the air of ‘everyone but me are wrong’ type attitude, however the way ren does it in the money game trilogy is he’s pointing it out to those blinded by the money sack without actually placing judgement on them for being blinded to begin with as he both visually (by starting out with the money sack on and showing his own eyes opening to the problem) and verbally (his example is exaggerated versions of *me* and it’s a…) beginning with himself.
In this case I actually prefer him not offering a specific solution as that would most likely have made the thought provoking message of the trilogy less striking if the listener wouldn’t agree it to be the best choice. Nor would it have started as many discussions and idea sharing as it did and continues to do.
I also believe that the job of an artist in general is to critique and question the status quo, the problems within the systems we have put in place, the structures in society that we’ve been conditioned to think are just the way life is and there’s nothing we can do to change them. Their jobs aren’t necessarily to come up with *the* solution but to bring awareness so that the listener might feel inspired to do what they can to change things. I can still criticise the way we are destroying our planet even though I’m not an educated scientist with the understanding of how it could be possible to not further destroy it, I can only offer the solution to not litter and to live as clean as possible but that won’t stop corporations in china, the us and my own country from furthering the destruction. That shouldn’t mean I should just shut up and accept it.
Also when it comes to artists with huge followings (that generally speaking about fandoms could be quite impressionable and putting their idols on a pedestal and blindly agreeing with their every word) I think it could be quite irresponsible to claim to have the answer to something as there is the risk of people agreeing just because they look up to you, there is a power issue there. Right now and when these came out, Ren’s still ‘just one of us’ even if his following is quite large, but the more he grows sadly the risk of people idolising him the same way a lot of other ‘celebrities’ are by their fans I love the fact that by removing his own opinion he makes sure the listener still engages their own critical thinking.
This is a long comment written on the mobile app which sucks and also thoughts written and translated right as they come to mind so I’m hoping this all makes any sense and won’t be too choppy and all over the place to read 😂
Again, loved your reaction and your thoughts during/after. And again “crucify your culture” would make a great follow up even though I feel like it’s more of a prequel to the money games.
As always I’m looking forward to your next ren reaction!
All the best till then! :)

Great reaction. Many people mention the trigger or trigger discipline. The gun is a replica 45 and cannot fire. Even still, one of the cartridges kept popping out the handle. Its interesting. I feel like plenty of people aren't able to come up with solutions to everyday problems they might be having. They simply haven't come from a background that encouraged problem solving.
They should still be able to raise legitimate issues that they're experiencing in their life, and have their voice heard.
A grounded example of the above. Many of us go to the doctor with an ailment. We don't know what it is or how to resolve it, but we should very much be entitled to raise the problem and have our voice heard. Doctors are trained individuals who have greater expertise in that area, and are able to apply it to their patients in a beneficial manner.
Transferring that notion to other areas of life seems valid. We shouldn't discourage people from raising issues that they've observed imo, and ideally we should have compassion toward them even if they cannot see a solution.

You asked what the bag/sack over their heads signifies. Here's my take on the Money Game trilogy along with factual statements made by Ren & others, on the messaging & performative aspects of Money Games Part 1,2 & 3.✌❤
Part 1: & 3 are in a similar format to Ren's Tale of Jenny & Screen & Hi Ren, which can be considered live performance pieces that are shot in 1 take.🤯 Ren has commented that this was his first attempt at this style of one take video production & it took them nearly 180 takes to get this shot right, especially with all the choreography & music involved. In essence, Ren is introducing everyone to all the hypocrisy in the west & the seeds that have been sown around the world that created this money game & how we all live blind to it daily, with a metaphorical money bag tied around our heads. 💰🤑💰In part 1 Ren portrays the character of Judge, jury & executioner for those who are blinded by the money game & the corruption that steams from the greed of everyone involved in it. He even draws eyes on the bagman to help him see his own errors & that of society's. When Ren attempts to carry out the final death sentence, the bagman's eyes reflect back to Ren, revealing his own complacency in the MG. The lyrics of his hook echo's in his head (Hold the mirror to ourselves, we're all part of this old money game). The ending carries a double meaning, 1) like a Buddhist Monk Ren burns himself in effigy as a protest of the MG & 2) This act of burning represents how we are all as a society, just dooming ourselves in the end. Like Ren's lyrics conveyed earlier (As the world turns, the whole world burns).
Part 2: is a studio recording with Ren & his videographer Samuel Perry-Falvey creating an artistic LYRIC VIDEO to assist in the messaging/storytelling. Pt.2 shows the money game through the narrower lens of corporate greed & government corruption & its effects on our present day society.🔥🔥I won't get to descriptive here, but it's much less abstract in its presentation & easier to absorb & decipher.
Part 3: Is Ren's magnum opus, once again returning to his one shot live performance format with Samuel Perry-Falvey behind the lens, but this time on a grander scale then anything they've attempted to date. Ren has even stated that this video in scale & technicality was his most ambitious project yet. Ren wraps up this trilogy telling us the life story of a single fictional character named "Jimmy" who was raised from birth in the money game mentality & therefore tightening the focus even more on the MG. Instead of just singing the hook "Point the mirror at ourselves, we're all part of this old money game" he chooses to bring the mirror to life & show us through the life of Jimmy's & everyone around him who have their own money bags tied around there heads, exactly where the pursuit of the MG leads. 🤯🤯
Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber shared Money Game 3 on his Instagram and said Ren is one of the best storytellers he has seen in a very long time. Film maker Jonathan Hiller was blown away by the story, as well as the cinematography & choreography that Ren & Sam created. By the end of the video Jonathan say's "This is the genius of Ren, by the end of the video his art transcends into a spiritual realm. Ren's use of negative space is captivating making MG3 utterly transformative".
    Cheers my friend.🍻

Getting the deal, Ren was on a path to success and riches, playing a part in the ol’ money game. When he got “substituted out” it left him with time to reflect (he looks in the mirror/point the mirror at ourselves…) and he realised he had been blinded by the money game, and he choose to reject it - he took off the hood that was blinding him…(sick boi: “Don’t you wanna be a rich boy? F’ck no!”).
Now I’m almost certainly projecting too - but I do like this idea that the swap out at the piano may go back to his own experience with the music industry - how dispensable and interchangeable we are in the money game.
      Food for thought.

After seeing this maybe 100 times I think the terrible trigger discipline on the gun is intentional, that it represents the money game being used recklessly. And the dry fire at the end is maybe that Jimmy was spared because he learned from his mistakes, but I'm definitely unsure of the latter, more confident of the former

Loved your analysis of this video. This popped up before I remembered that I haven't seen your MG1 or MG2 reactions, so I'll have to go back and check those out.
I do disagree somewhat with one thing you said early on (I think before the reaction started), about people not complaining if they aren't also proposing a solution. I think that complaining is (frequently) valuable. Often, particularly when we are talking about issues on the scale of society, the person who is experiencing the worst effects of a problem is often not empowered to make necessary changes or even in a position to understand the full scope of the issue. Their thoughts on a remedy can be valuable, but it is very easy to get too focused on the first solution that you come up with, implement it, and then find out that it doesn't actually work.
One example of this is something like car traffic on highways. When traffic gets bad, most peoples' instinct is to ask for adding more lanes to the highway. More room for cars should mean that they can move more easily and quickly. This is intuitive, but it is also wrong the vast majority of the time. No one needs me to go into a diatribe in this comment section, but suffice it to say that adding lanes to highways often makes traffic congestion worse in the long run (and at great expense). In this case, if I were an official or a planner, I would really want to hear about where people are experiencing pain points, but most of their solutions would be a distraction at best.
In Ren's (or any artist's) case, sometimes shining light on a problem *is* a solution. Or the beginning of one. Getting people to think about their lives and their choices may be enough to create lots of small changes that add up over time. Eventually, maybe it's enough to influence people who are in a position to make larger changes.
I don't think there's anything wrong with complaining. I *do* think there's a problem with complaining and then being unwilling to make changes in your own life if a reasonable solution is presented.

    • @teckreactions
      @teckreactions  Місяць тому +2

I see your point and appreciate your traffic analogy. It's true that individually, there's only so much we can do to change the frustrating conditions on the highway. However, the key lies in how we respond to that traffic. We know it's there, yet we still react with annoyance.
What if we shifted our mindset and approached the highway with a positive attitude? For instance, I could use that time to catch up with a friend, listen to an uplifting podcast, or use that moment for personal growth. We might not be able to control the traffic, but we definitely can control our reaction to it.
On a personal note, my wife and I have taken proactive steps in our lives where many just complain. We've lost 150 lbs together and paid off over $120,000 in debt. It's easy to complain about problems like being overweight or in debt, but taking action to change those circumstances is what truly makes a difference. It’s fine to express frustration initially, but dwelling on it without attempting to find a solution doesn't lead to progress.

You can become aware of a problem without having a clue how to fix it. The problem could effect you personally, and critically. All you can do at that point is complain, whine, or shout in frustration.
Telling people they need a solution or they're going to be ignored is cold, mean, and short sighted.

    • @teckreactions
      @teckreactions  Місяць тому +1

I think there was a misunderstanding. My point was that while it's acceptable to initially express frustration, if people continue to complain without proposing any solutions, it just turns into meaningless noise. It’s important to move beyond just airing grievances and start looking for ways to resolve them, as simply dwelling on problems without action doesn't contribute to progress.

Money Game I, is about the history of the game and how money has been used to divide and enslave people and once those people ae divided how that money then creates power in individual hands that nourishes greed. The greed turns children into killers, it's throws walls up between countries and peoples (this is mine you can't have it mentality, these resources are mine I was here first go back to your own country), keeping people divided keeps all the wealth and power in the minority's hands, and they perpetuate that by getting the masses to hate each other...... everyone of the masses wear's a bag over there heads and plays to the tune of the oligarchs.
Money Game II, This is how the Oligarch's keep the masses inline, they hold the carrot of illusion in front of them, they consolidate their grip by creating a system that turns the masses into consumer driven rats, desperate to have the next new thing, and it doesn't matter to the corporations how many resources they use or what mess they make of the planet, because their greed exceeds their compassion it's all about the idolatry of the almighty $.
Money Game III, Ren is shown from the start wearing a hood and being one of the masses, it's only when he removes the hood that the story of Jimmy starts, Jimmy isn't one of the masses he is intelligent and smart and could succeed in life from virtually any starting point, unfortunately he is pressured from a very early age to think of money and power to be the only things that have any value in this World, Jimmy strives to live up to his fathers expectations and will go to any length to get that approval, it is only when his father dies does Jimmy realise he will never get that approval and from then his life declines, the saddest part of the song for me is that Jimmy's first passionate thing in life is at 38 when he spends the night with a prostitute (I think that was deliberately put there by Ren) Imagine being super rich and powerful, having built a financial empire, stood at the side of the rich and powerful, having power and influence over others, yet the first moment of passion you have in your life, you have to pay someone to give you!.
Jimmy starts as a metaphor for society in general and his father represents the goals set by the Oligarchs and Corporations that control the financial strings that the hooded masses of society are forced to work towards, their is no sharing of wealth in those goals.
Ren is not Anti-Capitalist, he recognises the value in individuality and human needs for self improvement and progression, Ren also recognises that "people" are being forced to give up on their passions simply because they can not afford to pay rent or put food on the table.... How many Mozart's have never been heard, Poems/Novels never been read or Paintings never been seen simply because the people who would have written that music or that book or painted that scene had to give up on that passion because they simply had to eat? That is where the line between what the Oligarchs/Corporations desire for themselves and what Society "needs" to grow and develop has been crossed, we as the human race are stagnating in an enforced consumer driven society and Ren is simply highlighting that fact.

I think Ren likes to leave his music open to interpretation (duhh, i know), to me the sack represents the populace. The people are blind, or desensitized, to the workings of the world. Ren represents the system, regardless of whether it is working or not. He is the ideology. There is conflit within the ideology, which is why he wanted to rail against the populace, but realized that it is him, the ideology, that is the problem. He thought he was showing the populace the problem (the drawing of the eyes, opening them but they still dont really see). And his solution was to destroy the idology.
