That song "El Secreto" is so addicting, reminds me of an altered version of the HOUSE M.D. theme song.🔥
Probably the only person in existence to complete this whole thing in flip flops…. Nicely done, Sir
😂 thanks for watching man!
@@JoeyMontalto thank you!
Did you or anyone ever happen to find a solution to the rear axle length? One of the factors from holding me back from doing this swap lol
I haven’t had any issues with the axles. Done a few hard launches too and they seem to be working perfect.
They should still offer the sti 6 speed in these cars.
I agree!
Did the rear diff bolt straight in? no other processes or parts needed?
Yes. It bolted directly into the wrx subframe. No special parts or process 👍🏻
Brave man to do this in flops😂love the vids man! Keep it up bro🫡
Ikr 😂🎉
Lol no toes were lost in the filming of this series.
Informative vid your patience is commendable👍
Thanks for watching! A lot of patience and breaks when frustrated lol
I seriously love that you make these at home. It's awesome man.
Thanks for watching!
Your garage floor is so clean. Looks nice to work in
Thanks! It was the first house mod when I moved in. Commercial grade shop floors.
Good luck to you buddy. Excited to see the final results.
Thanks man! Just finished it up! Check out the video series!
Oh I wire make plug and play harnesses for rear diff temp and dccd controller. You have to but the dccd controller too.
Nice work! Please take this as no hate but two concerns: hopefully you torqued the axle nuts to factory specs otherwise your wheel bearings won’t last as long, and my year STi takes Motul 90 PA in the rear diff not Gear 300. Not sure if they’re different later on. Excited to see your trans swap next!
Hey thanks for watching. Axle nuts are torqued so no issues there. Surprised you’re the first one that asked haha. The motul gear 300 75w-90 is also an approved fluid for the rear diff.
@@JoeyMontalto Right on!
Love your videos man -- nice work! Can't wait for the rest.
Thanks for watching!
Did you check if the STI diff is wider? That’s why you have to get rear axles for any other STI swap. It’s because the R180 is wider than the WRX.
The diff is about the same size. The car is wider than previous years so the STi are slight shorter but work fine. The oem axles do not fit in the STi diff
Great content as always just got my first map for my new tune, so I'll be ready towards the end of next month for us to hit the track if you have enough miles on that clutch.
I have about 150 on it now. I’m not in a super rush to rack up miles but I’m sure I’ll be at 500 in like 2 weeks. Then I’ll get a quick revision from mikey since we have the clutch and trans to push that torque number up. Still on 93 though. I’m really holding out for a flex kit lol.
@@JoeyMontalto Where can you get ethanol fuel around here?
Where did you get the entire kit from and how much $?
Picked up the swap from MD JDM Motors. About 4k for the swap. Then I had to buy a new clutch for the new transmission
@@JoeyMontalto damn! I was thinking it would be like 6K +. good to know. I'm just outside of Philly.
Are you selling the wrx transmission and diff brotha!?
Yea I’m selling stock trans, diff axles etc.
you interested?
Message me on instagram if interested @joey_montalto
Nice work bro!
Thank you! Cheers!
Should be strong enough now to handle whatever you throw at it.
Facts!
You always impress me with how easy it looks. Off topic question but what kind of LCA’s are you running?
Thanks for watching! I’m running SMY alu rear lca and their rear toe arms as well. I have a video on my channel of the installation of both! Check it out
where did you source the swap kit from
I picked up my kit from md jdm motors. Maryland shop. There are a lot on eBay too.
I see you haven't managed to sell that r400 yet!
That is correct. No one wants an r400 i guess. Free install too if local.
@@JoeyMontaltor400 you say? How much?
Lets go!
Could you share where you got the parts? I'm thinking of doing this myself, but it'a hard to find a place selling all of it. If anything, a list of all the parts would be nice.
I know you went over this on the past vid, but maybe a written list would be appreciated. Are you planning for upgraded turbo?
Parts were from md jdm motors. The misc oem parts (bolts, drain plug gasket) I ordered were from Subaru dealer.
Upgraded turbo is definitely in the future!
