Me personally I’ll trust him, seeing how he’s the expert. It’s silly how many people assume they know more about this than him.
Now I didn't watch the whole video but the problem with the jump scene is conservation of momentum. If dom is flying with some velocity vector v and letty is flying with some velocity vector u, and u and v are not (anti) parallel, then, after the crash, the direction of motion of dom+letty would change. Now dom is more massive and maybe he was flying faster (making his momentum much bigger), but given the fact that dom's initial path before the crash had such a small angle relative to the gap between the two roads, I think he should've fallen through the gap, or at the very least his path should have changed enough to miss the car.
Nah! It's not impossible, just improbable. 'cause Quantum Mechanics Magic & stuff.
Sure, but that's a typical scientist's response. "Theoretically, that could happen. Providing all of the best case scenarios were in play at the same time (fresh fiber rope from a particular plant, ideal friction, ideal timing, ideal impact, etc." Dude's not gonna say it can't happen when it "could."

the physics just LOOKS impossible, but people that understands physics know it could be possible
I'm a theoretical physicist and go into most movies with the assumption they must have different laws of nature (or at least different material properties) than we do, so I'm rarely bothered.

Why'd the physicist not mention after Dom covers the gap and catches Lettie, that they crashed onto the car? More than likely noone would survive that
It's possible that Lettie would survive. The windows braking would absorb some of the force, some more would be absorbed by Dom which would probably kill him. The leftover force, might not be enough to fatally wound Lettie.
Because he’s talking about physics not health. I don’t recommend asking a physics teacher medical questions. Save that for people who practice medicine or at least biology.

That is quite unsatisfactory. Everything is so half-baked and no concrete statements, although there is clearly more to physics than just whether the energy is sufficient.

i didn't think so grabbing someone at 70 miles in the air going to opposite direction even if you are the hulk and can hold onto them without it snapping your arm your still stopping someone going 70 miles an hour and dragging them in the opposite direction even if it doesn't snap their body in half it would turn their organs into jelly
