Simple: that's because Dom's got Protagonist Privileges. The same thing that allows his car to drag around a ten-ton vault by itself and emerge from a large bus crashing unscathed. Hobbs is not yet one of the good guys so he's at an automatic disadvantage.
No Protagonist privileges put a street fighter up against someone like Hobbs, Growing up the way Dom did, going to Lompoc, a high security prison where I guarantee were a few fights, surviving Lompoc, getting into other Street fights, meanwhile Hobbs is basically an over qualified Security Guard.
Did you know the actors that play the main protagonists have it in their contracts that they are not allowed to lose a fight on-screen?

Yeah, if you're driving a sensible family car. Once you get into drag race level torque/weight ratios the driver has to do a shit ton of work to keep the car from flying off the road and killing him or her, let alone getting the fastest time out of the car.

No, that's not how it works. If you blink when you're firing a weapon, you are flinching. And you should not be flinching when firing a gun. It's very difficult to avoid flinching though, so it's not unusual to think someone would, even after training.

Like when someone gets shot and can still function fine, that's alright, because although it is not all the way realistic, it COULD happen. Maybe. Someone falling a long way and having their fall broken by something like a tarp, or a corpse or something like that, also fine. It's just for a few seconds, and it's unrealistic, but presented in a way that makes it look like it MIGHT be possible. Dragging a safe that weighs ten tonnes (or tons, depending on what he was using to measure it), behind a single car, and having full control for minutes on end is just stupid.

I have a problem when a movie changes rules of physics as it wishes from scene to scene. Where a car needs to be indestructible it is but in the next scene it is damaged by some minor thing. That just showes that they are lazy writers.

This you can see where I live in Argentina. Where not that poor people (as in India) have as you say stacked houses by the railways, and every house has a Sat dish... ONLY THEY ARE ALL STOLEN... And so is electricity and internet and any kind of service you can think of...

The weight would be less, but the physics of motion would still go against him controlling its motion.
