- It'll feel like you're in VH and not UH with the hits you're tanking.
Although Etoile's my least-played successor/scion class (yes, my playtime on Hero overtook it in the last couple months), I did a lot more research to get this out the door proper. I also took the feedback from the Phantom quick guide into consideration; while I didn't slow down the pace too much, I tried to tidy up the presentation a bit. Definitely far from the best Etoile player though, so pardon any jank gameplay you might see.

Pretty important note: In a week or so from the initial date of this comment, Etoile will have received a buff on the JP servers in the form of a shorter charge timer for Overdrive (240s -> 180s)! Yes this guide will be outdated a bit for JP, but unless Sega pulls another wacko balancing choice the guide should still be up to date on the Global servers for now.
As usual, nuances I glossed over or excluded from the video (will be added to as time goes on):
- *Same Arts PP Save/Preservation*
An Etoile combo passive in the same vein as TACB, Same Arts PP reduction does what it says on the tin: it reduces PP costs every time you repeat the same PA. For regular Etoile gameplay (and for something like HuEt), you'd leave this at 3 points to make the most out of TACB. However there are cases where you _could_ max it out, such as running Bow BrEt (even then most BrEt players make do with five points).
- *PP conservation*
On a related note, do be careful about spending PP with Etoile! It's definitely more of an issue with Wand as it's the most PP-hungry weapon out of the three, but spamming PAs without slipping in the occasional normal or Focus usage can lead to an empty PP bar pretty quickly regardless of weapon. PP efficiency is also why the rotation I used in the video is [Combo starter] -> [DPS] -> Normal attack -> [2x DPS] -> repeat; you can save the normal for later and do [Starter] -> [3x DPS] rotations, but you might also find your PP bar empty more often by doing so.
- *Easy Full Connect ring*
Yes, Etoile does have a ring that allows you to do a Full Connect with 1 bar of Focus if you charge the initial Connect long enough. This still doesn't change the function of Full Connect itself though, and in fact somewhat enforces it: You're going to need some time to charge up that Full Connect, so ideally you should do it when the boss is unreachable while winding up an attack or if your target's going to stay in place for a good while.
- *TACB vs. TAJA/TAPA*
Overall, Etoile's TACB is generally more versatile than Fighter's Tech Arts Just Attack (or its arguably less cool Global name Tech Arts Perfect Attack) Bonus. While Fighter's TAJA+PP Save combo gives you more PP usage reduction (85% as opposed to TACB's 90%), TAJA needs _different consecutive PAs_ to stay in effect. That means using a normal attack or two of the same PAs in a row breaks the combo effect, so you have to do another combo starter PA to get the effects up again. Etoile's TACB, on the other hand, allows for normal attacks to be used as part of the rotation; the only thing that breaks TACB's multipliers is stopping your combo or going over the repetition limit, which is pegged at 3 repetitions at skill lv. 10.
...no, that does not mean GuEt is viable. Gunner is the exception. You need S-rolls, which Etoile doesn't boost. It's like playing Bo/Br. Don't sin D:<
- *Double Saber... chase normals?*
I mentioned this in the guide but didn't really explain it, as I think it'll eventually become second nature as you play DSaber Etoile. The flash of light after executing a PA as Etoile? If you normal attack or Deflect with weapon action during that flash, you'll close the distance between you and the target you're currently locked on to. Think of it as Phantom Katana's Quick Cut, but without the slash projectile or PA alteration afterwards. You can also hold down the Normal Attack button after to cast an enhanced normal attack faster than you normally would from pressing it mid-PA combo.
ahah just last night I found another discrepancy with around mate up. Turns out you can siphon pp from other ppl who are using items on JP with around mate up but somehow that's not available on NA cause sega

I love how it says "Negates Healing" Yet the Etoile still gets 1hp per heal.. their still able to be healed it just takes a crazy amount of time..
Shouldn't you leave Same Arts PP Save at 2 points? You'd end up with the same amount of PP reduction over 3 PA uses, but you save a skill point.
At Lv 1 the first use costs 100%, the second 90% and third 90% (280% total)
At Lv 2 the first use costs 100%, the second 91% and third 85% (276% total)
At Lv 3 the first use costs 100%, the second 92% and third 84% (276% total)
@@Danjiano If you're looking to save a skill point and consistently do TACB rotations then yeah, leaving it at 2 is also an alternative. The third Same Arts point mainly just increases the PP reduction limit to 25%, which can be a bit of a helping hand if you have a tendency to miss the rotations by over-repeating every now and then.

love using wand and blades but didnt feel like i was damaging fast enough compared to hero, phantom, or bouncer. so this is good, i know some combos to keep up now

I just wish this class would interest me more than it does. Ever since I first saw it I was already too hyped for Ph to care. And now I look at it and... I dunno. I'm a dodging over blocking/DPS over solid hits kinda guy in RPGs so it's easy to see why I would prefer Ph over Et, but there's something about the latter that makes me wish I could bring myself to sit down and play it.
Just tried using etoile and this guide really helped. I'll go for wand.

I edit everything using Adobe Premiere, with the occasional bit of graphics & drawing work done in Clip Studio.
Final 11 points but unsure where to put it. My options are same art pres. (1), hp restoration (1), +pp (0), or +def (0). Great video tho. Originally thought that tech arts combo was like fighter where I had to string different PA’s in a row. Not only did I not know it applied on the initial PA, but you can spam the same pa throughout the stock!
it's definitely a lot more lenient than Fighter's combo system since you can connect the PAs with normal attacks and still have the multiplier in effect until you run out of repetitions for a PA. That said, it also lacks Fighter's stances, so using Etoile as a subclass might not work for some classes that use them (most notably Gunner; GuEt is a quite a bit less viable than GuFi)
I want to let you know I pirated this look (Et with this jacket and Lu with sophis raynal) back then and is still rocking this look

if im looking to use all the weapons atleast Dual/wand how should i do my augments for damage like should i go 50/50 on attack/tech or all in on one?
Etoille scales purely with melee, but if you use a wand, it will scale with the highest attack stat on that wand. So if you've modded your wand for hybrid damage (maybe for Techter), then it's ok, it will scale off whatever number is biggest.
What’s that base west?
Any tips on practicing parries? I'm just spamming it most of the time hoping to parry something for focus...
If you haven't, just think of Etoile parries as a Katana Counter or Hunter Just/Perfect Guard with their own gimmicks; DSaber parries need one more press for the counter, SBlades parries won't interrupt your attacks, and Wand parries are extendable Guards. Spamming them won't always work because there's a recoil period afterwards where you can't parry. Other than that, I think it's just a matter of learning enemy attacks and telegraphs.

I seen players just float with the double saber instead of running. Does anyone know how to set that up. I done it by accident last night 😂
step dodge twice and you'll start gliding(it's one of the double saber skills in the skill tree).
What kind of s augments would you recommend for this class?
You can't go wrong with damage SSAs on your weapon; 6-7% extra damage is good, 10% is solid. PP reductions are also an alternative if you're finding yourself running out often. Etoile's utility S4 options are pretty limited for now though, so you can skip on that until S4 Raising Pursuit (whatever it gets translated into) comes out.

Anyone curious as to how to build a mag most people say 50 50 50 for melee tec and dex
Then "most people" would be a tad misinformed; Etoile's mag skill is exactly like Hero's, which takes the total amount of attack stat your mag has and applies it to all three states (example: 200 Melee is converted to 200 Melee, 200 Ranged, and 200 Tech). Splitting the stats like that and including Dex would just bring the stat boost you get from it down a notch.
The best mag to use in the game would be a pure 200 attack mag for a corresponding class, or a pure 200 Dex mag if you're playing Bouncer, Braver, or Phantom. Etoile's mag is not an exception; any 200-atk mag will work.

Most guides for Etoile I've seen recommend that Beam > Beam > auto attack 3 combo for wand, yet to me it seems like Beam > glitter snipe > auto 3 would be better in a lot of cases. You can always cast black hole or backdash to lower altitude, and place a DoT on the target in the process. Or is that a bit too in-depth to cover in a quick look?
I couldn't really find a good place to put it in the guide, but Glitter Stripe is definitely viable as an alternative to Luminous Flare; it's got more or less the same amount of damage while being slightly faster on the cast. It's just that the awkward 45-degree downwards angle that it shoots might a) make it hard to hit certain enemies that don't stay in place a lot, and b) possibly miss the enemy or weak point completely if they're too close to you.
@@vyrde Kind of related, but would using wand teleport (without directional input) to lower yourself interrupt TACB? Teleporting down puts you at roughly the right height for another Glitter on the same target area.
It's probably less efficient, but also would be more protected than Flare spam.

The camo here is the signature Etoile camo Aile Starlight, iirc all Global players are going to get it along with the signature Phantom camo on the 23rd(?) of December.

Mag stats won't matter because Etoile converts the ATK total and applies them to every stat, as long as you have a 200-attack mag you're good
