  • This wasn't too bad, had a few electrical and hose connectors give me a fight but not too bad for how much you need to take off to get to the part.

Thanks for the video. I watched this and a couple more and think I can tackle it.

Only thing I see is didn’t undo negative battery cable….rule of thumb is always undo negative ground cable before any maintenance is done….but considering what is being done it’s not a pressing issue and all around good video

I am going to be doing this myself tomorrow but I was told by a mechanic that the oil needs to be changed afterwards due to antifreeze getting mixed into it after replacing the housing. Isn’t there a way to stop the antifreeze from getting mixed in the oil? The oil was just changed on the vehicle and I would hate to have to change it again.

Mechanic is not entirely correct. Depends on where the failure is on your oil cooler. It is most likely leaking coolant externally which is dripping from the center of the engine then over the transmission housing. If this is the case, like mine was, prior to installing a new housing check your oil dipstick to see if it looks like a milkshake. If not, I believe you can change the housing, then top off coolant and oil levels. You should lose very little oil when doing this housing swap. Remember, most of the oil is in the oil pan.

This is an "okay" tutorial. It would have been far more helpful to show the screws, bolts, and nuts to the camera before you reinstalled them, perhaps even take a moment to point to (and move the camera) to where they were being reinstalled. At least include the parts tray in the shot.
I am "handy," but I have never done this job before and there were 3 days in-between disassembly and the arrival of the part I needed. A little reminder before each one would have been great.

I didn't, just let it leak a little and topped it off when I was finished.
