In this video I will be replacing the broken side door Handle on a 1999 Toyota Sienna Mini van URL Amazon Door handle (affiliate Link) www.amazon.com...
Thank you showing this video! I also watched the video replacing the exterior front door handle. It seems like quite a few Toyota's have the same problem with door handles. I have the same van, and all the door handles are broke off the exterior and one of the interior handles broke. It started off like the handle in your other video, just a crack. Thanks for showing all the oops that could happen. I'm sure that it will help me avoid dropping the bolts. :)
Yep, the door handles seem to wear out after 15 years of use. Oh and one good idea for not dropping the bolt is using blue tape to tape the bolt to the socket (that was suggested on this video or the another one I did by a youtuber)
Well i guess aslong as the front matches the back it looks ok. Just like all the other old hondas where they don't have the handle painted. Good video once again.
I can tell you how to turn this relatively easy fix into a real PITA....drop something into the door. In my case, it was my 10mm socket with the extension. I couldn't even SEE the thing, and the space is too small to reach. I was ready to just leave it in there, but finally I got one of my old Sonicare electric toothbrush heads. These things have small but incredibly powerful magnets on them; I have used them for stud finders, and its funny to see them just sticking there on the wall. Anyway, I broke all the plastic and brush parts off of one and stuck it in a flexible tube. And duct taped it; I didn't want to have more stuff in the door. Voila! Took about a minute to get it out. I also taped the bolts to the socket when putting the new handle on. I took some picturesof that operation, but don't know if I can add them here.
I like the video, nice light, clear image and zoom in w/o moving the image. The video is very explanatory and anyone should be able to do this job. However, the problem I have at Sienna 2001 is that the interior push button is locked and I cannot open the power sliding door from inside or outside. The power system is disabled. The door just locked and I have no clue why or what could be wrong. If you make a film with fixing such problem would be great. Thank you.
thanks so much!! do you still have your van? howz it doing? i just bought a 2002 sienna so really appreciate your videos on interior repairs i need to make. nice.
