Thanks! You gave me the newrve to try this, after replacing my outer sliding door handles. Very simple. However, I suspect it wasn't the plastic being worn (at least mine wasn't)- that seems like HDMI, which is known for its anti-friction and long wearing properties. I had a lot of friction in the cable, and when I loaded it with WD-40, and lubed the latch mechanism as well, it moved much more freely. Powdered graphite would have been better- WD-40 doesn't last that long. I'll do better next time.
Thank you! Update: still sticking so am going to just leave the cover/ handle off so I can get to the button and pop it out when needed. Either that or will have pliers behind the seat to use when it sticks. The part is too expensive for me to justify replacing.
If the button gets stuck will that make it so I cant unlock the door? I've got my sliding door open and I can't get it to unlock so I can close it.... Oh yeah did I mention I'm at the store, fun times!!

my current solution is to have driver or front seat passenger open from the outside.
