494 WGW - “Father forgive them, they know not what they do”

‘Father forgive them. They know not what they do.’ These were the first words uttered by Father Jude Fernando following the bombing at the St. Anthony Shrine, the National Shrine in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he is the rector. The shrine was one of three churches and three hotels popular with tourists attacked by a group affiliated with the Islamic State on Easter Sunday, April 21st, 2019. The final figures counted 264 dead and over 500 wounded. Today the islanders are still harbouring fear and nursing both physical and psychological wounds. Father Jude Fernando, the rector at the Saint Anthony Shrine in Sri Lanka, is guest in today’s WGW episode and a witness to all that happened on that sad Easter Sunday 2019.
