Hi Mentro! I love this game - I've ran it a few times, but a big killer is that I end up getting stuck in a sea of blue tiles that last even after switching screens. It happens a lot, but really breaks down fighting Genbu Leader. Have you had issues like this? If so what did you do to fix it? I see it happening more in the beginning of the run but yours is never as bad as mine lol.
I assume you're playing it on emulator? If so, I can't really help you with that. I'm playing on console, and I have that same issue in just one area, in Seiryu City when going up the tower. That's because of the disc, another runner (Hdot) has it in the Protocol Forest. So if you are also playing on console, you might wanna buy a new disc.
I have DMW3 for PS1 and the blue tiles were a lot worse on the native hardware than on an emulator. I have 2003 on an emulator just so I can have postgame, but it also happens there. I also have big issues going up Airdramon’s tower.
@@SchoolAppropriate Yeah, if you happen to play it on console, you should definetly go with a PS2. And for emulator, try using ePSXe 1.9.0, it's a very reliable emulator which doesn't cause those issues for me.
I've been following along and playing and am like man his movements must be perfect i'm getting left behind often, then realized i'm playing 2003 which is also international and runs at 50 frames, game feels like it's running a good 15-20% slower we both we on bulbmon in fact i started the scene before you and you entered the battle before me, also the healthbars are inverted, mine deplete left to right and yours right to left, are you playing an american version? or also a 50fps version? maybe it's something else if you're on PAL and not NTSC
I have to say i swear my encounter rate is like double or my rng is just bad, i need to look up version differences and maybe just switch to the NTSC version i think the last boss fights are a little different though
ok nvm there are huge differences that make running this game take a LOT longer, i suppose i will switch to world 3 and drop world 2003 for a bit to see how it feels, apparently more encounters, more ambushes, counter crest doesn't always work and you get crit more in 2003
AYYY, same. I saved it right before everyone turned back into Oinkmon on my emulator tho. So I'm just training everyone else to 40 before I fight galaticmon.
After a lot of testing that was done throughout the years, Guilmon is the best pick nowadays for WR attempts. You can pick Kotemon, the one that was used before that, and is also way more consistent, but lacks things like Picking Claw or certain strats on certain fights. You can also pick Monmon or Agumon, but those are rather slow compared to Guilmon or Kotemon.
I actually have thought about that, because I really enjoy the card game of Digimon World 3. It's not a thing yet, noone has ever specifically gone for such a speedrun yet. I'd imagine it being pretty fun aswell. Pray for good cards in boosters, and pray for good draws in battles. But first, you'd need to even get there, so you still need to advance up until Digiegg of Sincerity, so that's at least 2 hours already. Maybe I'll route it soon, see what minimum deck I need to beat the Divermon and actually run it.
Is it possible to finish the game with partners like kotemon, renamon and patamon? Im having difficulties facing these boss since my metalgraymon don't counterattack. Im 95 with metalgraymon and im getting wargreymon
Omg when i was kid i remember i played this game with ps1 cd on ps2. And i remeber the start of the game cause i played it so many times. The reason is that i couldn’t save the game on the memory card because that was a ps1 game. My mom saying: “turn off the playstation!!!!” And everytime i had to start a new game.
Yes, it's because of that. By training Spirit, we can 1 shot all early random encounters except Dokugumon. Most importantly, Minotarumon is a one shot. But Spirit also decreases magical damage received, so it helps us survive higher crit ranges from MaterTyrannomon's Master Fire. It also increases damage dealt by WarGrowlmon's Atomic Blaster, so it also helps to defeat MasterTyrannomon faster.
@@mentro6412 ok ty for the detailed explanation I'm doing a play along using save states so I can experience the route, I love the game but regularly play with kotemon and it takes 20+ hours, the steal ability from growlmon seems helpful for getting the items needed to reduce time
Yeah, a lot of people have trouble with many story triggers, whether it's Sepikmon Mask, the Agumon Costume or Digiegg. The people you have to talk to are just so random sometimes, you need to talk with a lot of people, they'll tell you where to go... sometimes :D
It's not TNT Ball per se which is giving advantage, it's just how Galacticmon works. After every 3rd hit he receives, he enters a "weakened" state in where he will not attack you, as long as you can hit him once every turn. So as soon as he will not receive damage in that state due to evasion, or you just not attacking (healing or something like that), he will leave it and launch a big attack. He receives way more damage in that state aswell. We use TNT Ball because it can't be evaded. That means, we hit him twice, and the 3rd hit we just secure with TNT Ball to send him into that weakened state. We could also, of course, just continue attacking, but he tends to evade a lot sometimes. We don't grind it for this reason tho, it's for the TNT Chip which we need it for. But for some reason, the game decides to just let us have it after Baronmon "uses" the TNT Ball to craft the Chip. They probably forgot to code that in.
@@mentro6412 oh that's interesting and what do you think about the unused key item called Recovery CD 3? It was supposed to fix the Amaterasu server in the PAL version
@@mentro6412 I think some guys found it in the PAL version too but the description was still in japanese. It would be awesome if this game got remastered. How low can this game go with current strats?
@@DruidVorse Yeah, either that or a completely new remake would be dope, though I would also be plenty satisified with a remastered port for the PS4/5. Regarding how low the time can get with the current route: Sub 6:30 is where I'd draw the line. If anyone gets a time below 6:30 with the current route, I'd say that's about the human limit. But who knows, route changes may happen.
For Agumon, I'd go full Speed and then Strength. Weapons will already increase Strength by a lot, no need to train it too much. Then finish off with Defense. If you're going all in, next step is Wisdom and Spirit. Try to keep both of them at the same level, given both are pretty important if you want to deal damage with magic attacks or receive less damage / evade them. Patamon is hard to train, because if you want to go for the magic pproach of using magical attacks entirely, you'll have to spend way more TP at the beginning. So you don't need strength at all if you just use magic attacks, but for exhanging Strength, you need to train both Spirit & Wisdom, do deal damage and hit your magical attacks. But you still kind of need Defense and Speed, to not be a glass cannon and also not to get double turned by everything. TL;DR Agumon: Speed>Strength>Defense>Spirit=Wisdom TL;DR Patamon: Spirit=Wisdom>Speed=Defense>Strength (don't have to go for Strength)
Spirit also reduces damage received fron enemy magic attacks, even more so than Wisdom does. I do that to have a greater probability of surviving MasterTyrannomon's Master Fire crits.
Mentro oh that’s really good 2 know! I did some testing on the PAL version and spirit seemed a little buggy since it never raised the damage of Renamons tech but I never knew that it also increases mdef which atk somehow did. Ty for the answer :)
I bought the game and I play it on a PS2 (SCPH-90001). You can play it on emulator on your PC, I'd recommend ePSXe 1.9.0. For the ISO of the game and the bios you'll have to be on your own, can't help you getting those. It's not hard to find tho :D

Once Galacticmon enters his weakened state (receive 3 hits), you can attack him for how long you want until he dies, as long as you hit every hit. Once he evades, or you simply don't do anything in that turn (like healing), he'll leave that state.

For me, digimon world 1 & digimon world 3 are the best digimon game ever, I just don't understand why they keep changing their genre/ gameplay.
It's always nice to keep a good amount of variety in a game, but I agree that it works best with a turn-based system, the story games nailed it.
I have to say i swear my encounter rate is like double or my rng is just bad, i need to look up version differences and maybe just switch to the NTSC version i think the last boss fights are a little different though
ok nvm there are huge differences that make running this game take a LOT longer, i suppose i will switch to world 3 and drop world 2003 for a bit to see how it feels, apparently more encounters, more ambushes, counter crest doesn't always work and you get crit more in 2003
@@JH-ye8fd Idk about the ambushes and getting crit more, don't think that's true.
I just watched the whole thing lol, well played sir
i played this game on my quarantine time.....😉😄
AYYY, same. I saved it right before everyone turned back into Oinkmon on my emulator tho. So I'm just training everyone else to 40 before I fight galaticmon.
Is Guilmon like the best one for speedruns like these? Or you can attempt a record with something else?
After a lot of testing that was done throughout the years, Guilmon is the best pick nowadays for WR attempts. You can pick Kotemon, the one that was used before that, and is also way more consistent, but lacks things like Picking Claw or certain strats on certain fights. You can also pick Monmon or Agumon, but those are rather slow compared to Guilmon or Kotemon.
@@mentro6412 I've never attempted a speedrun of this game, but Kotemon is my boy
Very nice, good run man!
oh cmon guys subscribe to this guy, he's good at speedrun!
Damn you....now where's my DW3...i'll have to play this again...
:D It's amazing to replay after some years, have fun!
Ever thought about doing a digimon 2003 card speedrun? Like beating the champion on the card island. Idk if that kind of speedrun is even a thing.
@@mentro6412 I am highly interested in this! That sounds super unique
Are you still running Digimon World 3 ?
Yes I am, I'm live with it every now and then. I might even run it today.
I love this game so much my childhood
Question, why do you train spirit first? is it just to deal enough with your special ability to get through certain fights early?
Yes, it's because of that. By training Spirit, we can 1 shot all early random encounters except Dokugumon. Most importantly, Minotarumon is a one shot. But Spirit also decreases magical damage received, so it helps us survive higher crit ranges from MaterTyrannomon's Master Fire. It also increases damage dealt by WarGrowlmon's Atomic Blaster, so it also helps to defeat MasterTyrannomon faster.
@@mentro6412 ok ty for the detailed explanation I'm doing a play along using save states so I can experience the route, I love the game but regularly play with kotemon and it takes 20+ hours, the steal ability from growlmon seems helpful for getting the items needed to reduce time
@@JH-ye8fd Yeah, Picking Claw is a big reason for why we pick Guilmon, other than having access to an early Ultimate Digimon ofc.
Wow super FAST man. AMAZING!
Not fast enough ;)
damn, ngl, at around 1:36:00 cousins and I never gotten past here because we just didn't know what to do afterwords
Yeah, a lot of people have trouble with many story triggers, whether it's Sepikmon Mask, the Agumon Costume or Digiegg. The people you have to talk to are just so random sometimes, you need to talk with a lot of people, they'll tell you where to go... sometimes :D
Dost Kayaoğlu beats the game in 6 years u 6 hours congrats dud.
Does anyone else agree that they should remake all of the original Digimon World games with the new console releases?
Digimon next Order maybe almost same
I Just star this game again bro
At 6:36:28, why does Galacticmon get stunned by TNT ball? This is the least expected item to give advantage against him
It's not TNT Ball per se which is giving advantage, it's just how Galacticmon works.
@@DruidVorse Probably something they added and then forgot to add a function to, was it not like a japanese item only tho?
@@mentro6412 I think some guys found it in the PAL version too but the description was still in japanese.
It would be awesome if this game got remastered.
How low can this game go with current strats?
@@DruidVorse Yeah, either that or a completely new remake would be dope, though I would also be plenty satisified with a remastered port for the PS4/5.
Regarding how low the time can get with the current route: Sub 6:30 is where I'd draw the line. If anyone gets a time below 6:30 with the current route, I'd say that's about the human limit. But who knows, route changes may happen.
hello mentro I want to ask if you choose agumon / patamon in the gym what skills do you advance first sped / mediation / damage
TL;DR Agumon: Speed>Strength>Defense>Spirit=Wisdom
TL;DR Patamon:
Spirit=Wisdom>Speed=Defense>Strength (don't have to go for Strength)

i wish the video is HD :)
my first childhood game 😆
Had a lot of fun watching this :)
Is there a reason u go for spirit on the first training rather than speed or atk? I though spirit raises only magic damage .

Ah...one of my memory when i was a kid
Hi!! Nice run, could you please tell me where did you get the game? Please i want to re play it again
I bought the game and I play it on a PS2 (SCPH-90001). You can play it on emulator on your PC, I'd recommend ePSXe 1.9.0. For the ISO of the game and the bios you'll have to be on your own, can't help you getting those. It's not hard to find tho :D
Had my PSP laying around and emulated it on it.
You can download the ISO and emulator in the internet. You can easily find it. I played it thrice already in different years. I still come back to it. I love these old games.

If you can't understand what NPCs tell you and you generally don't know what to do, you'll have a bad time for sure. For story progression, some or one NPC(s) always tell you where to go, what to do or at least strongly hint at it.

Once Galacticmon enters his weakened state (receive 3 hits), you can attack him for how long you want until he dies, as long as you hit every hit. Once he evades, or you simply don't do anything in that turn (like healing), he'll leave that state.
